Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
reddogblitz replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The big headline is that Senator Harris put Uncle Joe in his place and schooled him and now Uncle Joe may be done because of it. I watched it and was glad to see Uncle Joe stand up for himself and not cower in an apology. I hate this whole thing now that you go find something someone did 30+ years ago when times were different and beat them over the head with it. He was actually making a case for states rights which was interesting but he stuck to it, AND HE WAS RIGHT. I saw it more as a screw up by Senator Harris when she called on him to denounce his 30+ year old decision and he didn't do it. Reminded me of the Lazio/Hillary moment when Lazio tried to get her to sign something. If the other person doesn't do what you challenge them to you look like a fool which she did at the end of that when Uncle Joe basically told her to pound salt. I don't like Uncle Joe and will not vote for him, but I thought he did well here. And on the busing, I remember busing. People didn't like it not just because they were racists (some were no doubt), but they didn't want their kids to wake up an hour earlier to ride a bus one hour each way and get home from school an hour later when there was a perfectly fine school within walking distance. I also read an article in the paper today explaining how men were interrupting (manterrupting) the most. I don't know. The lady on end interrupted several times they just wouldn't listen to her. Gildebrand interrupted almost constantly. Senator Harris sure got her share of interruptions in. And I wouldn't put it past the DNC to cut Andrew's mic. They learned nothing from trying to ***** 2016s primary which ultimately cost them the election. -
I remember in like 2001 or 2002 Rob was on one of those QB competitions where they throw at sleds with targets on them. Rob was ahead most of the way but at the end, the other guy hit a long one to go ahead by 1 point. All Rob had to do was his the short 10 yard one and he would have won. But what did he do? He wound up and tried to hit the longest one and missed. He lost. Afterwards when asked why he just didn't go for the short one for the win, he said he didn't want to win it that way. So he went long. Loser.

We do. Duh. Just like we did in Iran in 1953. -
I'm gonna just disagree with this. No way Flutie fumbles out of the back of the end zone for a safety leading to Tennessee scoring their only TD of the game on the resulting free kick. A 9 point swing. Flutie plays, we win it going away and probably go to SB. Flutie gets his number retired. Biggest shot to foot in Bills franchise history. And yeah, the kick off was really dumb too.

I'm going to have to trust your judgement on this one. It was before my time as a Bills fan. I was a Cowboys fan growing up in Dallas. The only exposure I got to OJ was watching him on every Monday Night Football half time highlights right after Howard said "Miami's got the oranges, but Buffalo's got THE JUICE". And, I did see him win the MVP on January 21, 1973 in the Pro Bowl at Texas Stadium.

Every year is different and you have to out perform other teams to get in POs. There have been plenty of years in the drought where it was a down year and 9-7 would get us in, but we couldn't even get close. The 2017 team DID out perform the other teams. I'm proud of that. There is no litmus test of playoffs beyond out perform everyone else which we did. There is better beer than this to cry in.

That was their own choosing and they don't get a pass for it. And yes, it was a choice they made. They weren't forced to. There were other options. they were hired for one reason, to win. they did the first year and then decided to have us season ticket holder fans who put their money where their mouth is suffer through a rotten season. I was at the Bears and Patises games and it was pathetic. I don't appreciate that. Doesn't matter how you do it, but it can't take 4 or 5 years. You won't last that long. It better work. Go BILLS !!

In today's NFL with salary cap and expensive veteran contracts, if you go the tear down and rebuild router you BETTER be ready to make a serious run in year 3 or year 4 at the very latest. After that, rookie contracts start to expire that must be either retained or new expensive guys acquired or draft rookies good enough to start. Decisions will have to be made on the Tredvian Nightmare as he enters the final year of his rookie contract next year for example. I don't see it working in 2019 NFL. This is year 3. We're behind in the rebuild timeline unless we totally break out this year.

he made more sense than most of them. Whenever he started talking about stuff going against the grain of the DNC like people don't care about impeachment or identity politics they tried to shut him up. Same thing happened to Ryan. meanwhile they had no problem with Castro butting in and hijacking the debate. -

i liked how Jay says his state believes diversity is its strength. HIs state is 23rd in the nation in diversity and 78% white. the Washington State Legislature has been passing some nifty green stuff and his "public option" this year that he was bragging about. -

Thanks, thebandit27, oh great arbiter of football knowledge. Still, I'll take my chances. -

Trent has the hardware. I don't care if he's an all time great or not. I suspect when he goes to bed at night with his Lombardi by his side he worries about if thebandit27 considers him to be an "all time great" or not. Big time players make the big time plays when they need to be made. Trent did. Josh not so much yet. We'll see. -
I understand where you're coming from sort of but just disagree. You win with studs. Sammy was a stud. I understand the injury concern, but WRs get hurt. That's why you need 2 or 3 top notch ones. Sadly now we don't have any even after the Cole and Brown signings. To my way of thinking if you want to develop a young QB you surround him with quality pass catching WRs/TEs that can catch footballs not perfectly throw and are expert route runners as opposed to surrounding him with Zay "Drop Zone" Jones, Ray Ray McCloud, McKenzie, Foster etc. This is my #1 beef with Beane.

Maybe it's just me, but I call 100+ yards in the AFC Conference game as producing. And as far as your scenario and mine is we don't know, so they both have the same odds of being right. To each his/her won. Sometimes the difference between winning and losing is very small and can come down to one guy on one play.
