  1. In addition, $42 million was given to the Chiefs for Arrowhead improvements...the Washington Post is reporting that the G-3 account is now dried up. Wash Post
  2. Seems like a lifetime ago...and it will seem like another lifetime until the Bills are back in the playoffs. Look at the stars, Kelly, Smith, Reed...and the stars in waiting, Thurman, Biscuit, on that team...this current crop is light years behind.
  3. Case 1: Thought that myself, but you need the TD eventually...that was the coaches thought-process as well, I guess. Case 2: Packers actually did something like this in the SB a few years back vs. Denver. With the game tied, and the Broncos down near the goal line, Green Bay thought it better to let Denver score a TD then to run clock down and let Denver kick a chip-shot FG. Denver indeed scored the TD and Favre got the ball back with a little time, but they lost it on downs.
  4. Um...your math is a little fuzzy...go back to the calculator. While you're at the bar boasting on how your screwing the big guy, make sure you don't order a Bud or Coors product (NFL sponsors, remember). And the car you drive to get to the gin joint? Better check that too. And don't forget to leave your Reebok-manufactured jersey or cap at home. I admire your spunk and tenacity. Your protest though is a little misguided. If you truly feel the way you do, give up on the NFL and its sponsors entirely. This would have a better net effect on the bottom line. Good luck on having others follow, however.
  5. "There are two people who have ever died for you. One was Jesus Christ. He gave you your soul. The other was a U.S. Marine. He gave you your freedom." Anonymous
  6. Go to the bus lots...paid as low as $5 for a ticket there...there's always some dope(s) who overslept or was out late the night before, and didn't make the trip...and the group leader is stuck with the tickets. Usually they're already paid for and the leader is glad to get rid of them.
  7. Hmmmm....Tasker doing the game, and it is blacked out in WNY. Wonder if he'll be even more critical of the Bills!
  8. Some good stuff on the "trivia" link: Yano Anaya, who played Grover Dill (the toadie), appeared in only two other films but is probably best known as the evil paperboy with the war cry, "Two dollars!" in the 1985 John Cusack comedy, "Better off Dead." Trivia page
  9. And only four cars were burned in College Park the other night...
  10. I believe the lack of late-season sellouts will come back to bite us, I really do. I think there is some merit in the poor marketing charge...Ralph has never really had to market this team in the last 20 years. He's had Kelly, Super Bowl runs and Flutie do it for him. The last marketing campaign I can remember was the "You can make it happen!" or something like that, sponsored with Marine Midland Bank in the mid-'80s. But half of the home season being played after Thanksgiving does not help either. Out-of-towners make plans and generally go for the games where they won't get frozen out, and who can blame them. Tennessee would have been a good late season draw six years ago, but not in 2006. I hope I'm wrong, I hope I'm dead-wrong, but I see this as just another reason the Bills will not be around WNY five years from now. The economy, population drain, and the lack of sellouts is just too much...again I hope I'm wrong and I admire others who believe the opposite. But I just can't see the Bills surviving in WNY much longer, especially with Ralph pushing 90.
  11. 11. Bills will be in their throwbacks, royal blue jerseys and white helmets with the classic standing red buffalo.
  12. So Ted Marchibroda is the Colts color guy...and of course, Bill Polian is the GM. Those two should have never been allowed to leave Buffalo.
  13. Jeeziz, Scott, didn't you know that when Ehrlich served in Congress, he supported Bush 90 percent of time?!?!? And that Bush lied?!?!?!
  14. Besides getting the finger-pointing out of the way quickly, Republicans better not walk away from basic conservative principles. This loss was about: 1. Page-boning, and the subsequent failure to do anything about same 2. Tom DeLay and his cronies and the lobbyists and the um, stealing 3. Spending big $ on stupid stuff for the folks back home, for the sole purpose of maintaining power 4. The arrogance and corruption that comes with entrenched power 5. Bush and the war didn't help...but the Republicans could have held on if it weren't for items 1-4.
  15. His full name is "Robert Royal Ahold."
  16. Heavy turnout reported already in Virginia...waited 35 minutes to vote in Arlington.
  17. Heavy turnout in Virginia...waited 35 minutes to vote in Arlington, and early reports are this is the norm throughout the state.
  18. Men Without Hats...hosed yet again.
  19. Sounds like the old joke, where a guy and his wife finally show up at a baseball game in the top of the ninth and there's no score. The wife turns to her husband and says: "Good, we haven't missed a thing."
  20. March 19, 1981 "...12...13...14...we want 15!" And I was there...
  21. No, and I would expect the same question from Bettman. That's not the point. I just think the shoot-out is a post full-year-work-stoppage "contraption," designed to appeal to people who weren't hockey fans in the first place. But, we need those people you ask...really? There are some who appeal to this scheme, but improve the first sixty minutes of play, i.e. the two-line pass, and you improve the product and you "gain" fans that way. Don't cheapen the product. Christ, I've been walking in and out of hockey barns for over 40 years, and I never once heard anyone mutter: "Jeeziz, a tie, do I feel hosed."
  22. I hate the shootout...hate it. I know the Sabres have benefited from it, but I still think that ending a 65 minute (with OT), hard hitting, physical game with a finesse-filled shoot out is the wrong approach. I say extend the OT to ten minutes...and if there is a tie, so what. You paid to see hockey and this is it. You lose in OT you get NOTHING and like it...I know the hot-pockets crowd wants to see either a winner or a loser, but I just don't like the shoot-out...it's too European, and too out of line to what the NHL is about. "We lost but we got rewarded with a point!" Socialism at it's finest. I don't buy it. Kinda like the Seinfeld episode where they're watching the NYC Marathon from a friend's apartment and some dope yells out the window, "You're all winners!"
  23. The same people who buy those Calvin decals for their trucks...the one where Calvin is pi$$ing on the [insert rival truck manufacturer here] logo. Many of these same folk have an adjacent decal that reads: "Driving in Memory of Number 3."
  24. House D: 220, R: 215...if northeast Rs go down early (Johnson, Simmons, Bass, Philly-area, upstate NYers, etc), R losses could be in the 30s Senate R: 52 (Burns (miracle), Allen and Talent hang on, Santorum, DeWine, Chaffee lose) D: 48 (Ford loses in TN, Menendez wins NJ)
  25. Will Nick B, Jim Mandich, Larry Csonka and the rest of those overrated 72 Dolphins be on the sidelines?
