  1. I stumbled accross it Saturday night when we were down there for a picnic...signs warning of "No Parking August 8th, Flags of our Fathers" were posted all around (like there's ever any parking around here ). Went down there at lunch time and stuck around about a half-hour till the rains came.
  2. Hollywood types are in town to film "Flags of Our Fathers" a movie based on the Iwo Jima flag-raisers (and a book by the same name...It's a very good read, highly recommend [christ, I sound like Larry King ]). Anywho, Clint's directing the film...got to within 50 feet, he's still in great shape. The scene shot today recreates the dedication of the Iwo Jima memorial in 1954. Lots of extras walking around in 1950s garb and alot of classic cars...neat stuff. The movie will be in theatres next year.
  3. Exactly. And until the Bills end their playoff drought, they're not going to be mentioned in the same breath of the Pats, Steelers, Chargers, or any other division winner. Period. End of story. Is it right? Maybe not. But that's life in the Hot Pockets media world we live in right now. Yeah, I heard the guy try and backtrack from his "better team" remark...but christ, let's just be realistic here. 12-4 vs. 9-7...Hmmm, maybe the guy jumped the gun on "better team" but let's not get our panties in a knot over a remark like this.
  4. I did see another guy in a Spikes jersey, but he was wearing a COMCAST hat...
  5. I was quite surprised in the attention they paid the Bills...the Vincent interview was pretty good, he being a Wisconsin guy and all...I had a feeling being a local feed they would pay the Bills some attention as an after-thought, but I think they did a decent job. Looks like Sharpe is filling up on the brats, though...
  6. The Spikes guy they showed on TV a couple of time was wearing the throwback jersey and a Bills hat...you?
  7. Anyway you could get these to Fezmid so he could make some DVDs?
  8. I've said it since it first went on the air: NFL Network=RJ. I give them props for showing tonight's scrimmage and I saw some of the Hall of Fame roundtable with Deacon Jones last night which was pretty good, but what will be interesting about tonight's scrimmage is that NFLN is simply picking up the Green Bay local feed...Sterling Sharpe is even playing the Michelle Tafoya role on the sideline. With the obvious local angle, I wonder how much of the hour and a half will be dedicated to the Bills...we'll hear stuff like "You know guys, Mike Sherman REALLY liked Losman coming out of Tulane..." That might be about it.
  9. Wow! I miss those Spy articles, that use to be, I guess, a weekly feature. Like seeing the Spy cartoon/graphic that I haven't seen in quite a long time And why isn't the Spy series linked from the TBD home page?
  10. You're always "sneaking up on people" aren't you?
  11. I'm actually crying looking at these GREAT pictures with the classic red buffalo. My next Blue will be hoisted in your honor, Mr. Macnmotion.
  12. Great pics...and what a let-down it will be when they go back to the current helmets/uni's....for God's sake, Mr. Wilson, make the throwbacks the standard uniform!
  13. Didn't Lustig admit later that he felt the mugging was well-deserved?
  14. December 7, 1980...Freddy Smerlas leads teammates back onto the field to dance with Jills after OT win over Rams. I can still remember the scene at Rich 25 years ago...christ, I'm getting old. Folks dancing in the aisles to the tune of "Talkin' Proud." That was such a great year...and if Bills win that game in SD, the AFC championship would have been at HOME vs. Oakland...think the Raiders would have had a chance? Alot of "what-ifs" that year...losing to Baltimore twice and Atlanta at home cost all-important home field. Bills win one of those three games, and it would have been off to the Super Bowl.
  15. For the money, again, for the money...you can't beat Outback.
  16. No, I don't get me started on the NFL Network
  17. Nope, Tiger's on the cover together w/Peyton Manning Evans as a second year WR looks right at 37...however, next year I am willing to bet the farm that he's in the top ten.
  18. NHLers will play in the 2006 Olympics and it has been reported that the 2005-06 season will start the first week of October in order to compensate for the league shutting down in mid-February.
  19. What's funny with these yearbooks is that NFL Films can make these things look like a 2-14 team won the Super Bowl What will be odd is that there will be hardly any mention of Drew Bledsoe as the QB last year...you will see virtually no TD passes...all touchdown highlights will be McGahee runs or ST returns. If Bledsoe's name is mentioned more than twice, I'd be surprised. The last ten minutes will be devoted to the rise of JP.
  20. usually the Monday after the first home preseason game
  21. I tried to get 10 together for the Jets....even got on early as a Backer, no dice. Jack in Syracuse, HELP!
  22. That is absolutely right...Hootie has come out publicly and said if Wie wins, she's in. God, I'm sooooo sick of this issue....Michelle Wie, Danica Patrick, and Tom Brady are the most over-hyped female sports personalities this century. When will the madness end?!?!?
  23. The article states: "The unofficial “legend” among long-time fans was that the number was not issued because it was reserved for the official team logo." Bills logo I just wish some more light was shed on the mystery: why number 31, and was 31 officially NOT issued because of the logo? Unless I missed it, and that's probably the case, Lynch does a poor job in explaining any significance of the logo. (Maybe it's like the Rolling Rock '33'? ) Mark VI? Rockpile? Buehler? Anyone?
