Well butter my buns… the Bills might be forced…
Rockinon replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's exactly right. The Bill's are all ready spending very close to the cap. The only thing that is slightly different is that instead of paying superstar money, the wealth is spread out amongst the players. People like to complain about not paying big money for guys like Jason Peters for example, but the team as a whole is still being paid very well. The Ralph is cheap stuff is BS. This news is going to change nothing more than a across the board raise or perhaps add some quality depth at one of the weaker positions. Not a real big change. -

PFW: Bills hope to give Evans bigger role

And because Evans got hurt. Yes, Evans had a pathetic year(576yds), but people tend look at things in black and white only. He was practicing with Edwards at the helm instead of Fitz before the season started and up until Edwards was shown the door. Stevie spent a lot of time practicing with the second stringers and hence Fitz. How good a WR is, isn't all about how well you run a route. Having good practice time with your QB is critically important. Getting that timing down doesn't just miraculously happen. I also think that is why the other second string WRs had good numbers; they actually had a lot of reps with Fitz. -
PFW: Bills hope to give Evans bigger role

You guys are way off base. Evans is the best receiver on this team. The assumption that he is nothing more than a strait line burner is ludicrous. How is he going to break another 1000 yard season, if you don't throw him the damn ball? Captain checkdown sure as hell wouldn't do it and when Fitz came in to start after mostly practicing with all of the second stringers, Evans is supposed to just magically be in a rhythm with him? Evans has consistently been a top performing WRs on this team even though he has had to deal with a different QB nearly every year of his career. Bills fans are these days are about the most impatient lot I have ever seen. -
A bunch of positive comments about talks

Hey, we had some good seasons! Of course our biggest rival back then was Wilson. I didn't play football, but I remember going to your school for cross country. We cleaned house on your school. -

Good to see an article like this. Fitz had very few first team reps to get into a groove with Evans before the season started last year. The QB and receivers need to put that time in, get the timing down. It'll be fun to watch Fitz in sync with the starters. -

Man, you guys are way too serious. Am I the only one who read the thread title and then after clicking on it laughed? Good one OP.

Here's a good photo The Stache What a face.

At least it makes for a more interesting game. Some really good points. We would likely be having an entirely different conversation on this subject if Trent Edwards remained the starter for the entire season.

He said he met with Poz, Reggie Torbor, and Andra Davis. The mention of Poz leads me to believe that he will be re-signed. There is also this article By Chris Brown Edwards is talking up Merriman and how much he is expected to contribute. The hiring of Wannstedt was no mistake. His job as LBs coach may prove to be far more important than his Assistant Head Coach title. I can see some of the young LBs on this team making an impact too. In fact I'm really excited about our group of LBs.

Why does this sound like you are giving in? Wanna debate about it? I kid.

Now we're getting somewhere. Now go back and read my first post now knowing that I was actually at 2 training camp practices with my kids. You can criticize my assessment but it still wasn't your eyes at the practices. It was mine.

I wouldn't say everyone. Then there are also occasions where poster means one thing and reader thinks another. But you are right for the most part. I am leaning toward staying away from controversial subjects myself, because I tend to bring out the worst in people

Bingo. I have seen quite a few posts stating that Gailey doesn't use TEs. It's really amazing how confused some people are about the position.

Here we go again.

He's a pretty good poster and tends to get some good responses in return. Kinda jealous. I always seem to tick people off, though I can't imagine why.

Actually, it's pretty clear that it is I who is getting under your skin. As for the "nauseating" remark, I was not clearly referring to you. But like I said before, evidenced by this additional rant, I fully expected you would continue to blah, blah, blah. Also like I said before, seeing is believing. And what I see is someone who is full of himself. A blow hard, know it all. Blah blah blah. Go ahead keep going. Now your just amusing me.

I was just going to look for that info. Thanks. I am in no way whatsoever agreeing with the "Batten=Paup" in the thread title but people like to write players off as if they are insignificant to the point where it all begins to sound like white noise to me. The negativity is just nauseating. Batten is like having an extra draft pick this year since he never played last year. So is there something to be positive about? Yes, I believe there is. And he was one of the players that stood out to me in training camp.

OK, but don't spread that around.

I step away from the computer for a few minutes and come back to find that you are all ready repeating yourself. Wow. I love how you immediately assume that someone doesn't know what they are talking about because you can't find some internet resource to justify it. Maybe you need to step away from the computer too. You know, get out of the house and find something useful or entertaining to do. I saw Batten in person at training camp and the kid was flat out bringing it. I fully expect you to blah, blah, blah some more on the subject and to further repeat yourself because you don't seem to think before you start ranting. When you see something with your own eyes, things tend to be more convincing. Batten would have made the team before Moats and it is that simple. Seeing is believing. I'll tell you something else. Batten was projected to be an outside linebacker and was asked to learn inside linebacker last year. He is learning both and there is a very good chance that he will go back to the outside this year. Because of last years injury he will likely have to play second fiddle this year, but if someone goes down, don't be surprised if Batten is the first name called on to fill in.

Did it ever occur to you that letting Lynch go might have been the best thing for him? I really liked his running style and at the time, I also thought the Spiller pick was ridiculous. The thing is, once you have earned yourself a bad reputation, it takes a very long time to put that behind you. NFL careers are very short. He needed a second chance, yes. But maybe for all parties concerned, he is better off where he is, a place where he can get a fresh start.
-
Batten did have a roster spot locked up before he got injured. He was clearly one of the better looking LBs at that time. Will that actually translate on game day? We'll see. He has had a full year to learn the defense which will help, and he could be a pleasant surprise for us. But Batten=Paup is a reach.

I seem to recall Fletcher being missed afterward. It would be a mistake to let Poz go now. He is now entering his prime. Of course I also think we should resign Whitner, so what do I know?
