  1. You'll have to wait until tomorrow's transactions. Not everything has a link before it's official.
  2. Don't kill Paul Maguire before his time. He is still alive.
  3. If Morse goes down Bates will move to C, Quessenberry to RG & Brown back to RT. He's going on IR & he won't be back unless someone gets injured.
  4. Teams don't get rid of 1st or 2nd round QBs unless they've seen enough to know the guy doesn't have it. Either that or he's got a substance abuse problem like the time Carolina cut Kerry Collins for drinking too much and he was able to resurrect his career. Outside of Collins I can't think of any QB who got released or not offered a 2nd contract who ever made it. All these attempts at rehabbing the careers of highly drafted QBs have failed. Now guys have been traded early in their careers like Steve Young & Brett Favre but they had enough value to get a 1st or 2nd rounder in return. It will be interesting to see what happens with Baker Mayfield, since he really hasn't been a total bust up to now & was traded for virtually nothing in return. He could prove the exception, but the odds are against him. Arizona recognized Rosen didn't have it & robbed Miami. Even though Miami hedged their bet by trading down in the 2nd round, getting an extra 2020 2nd rounder and traded the lower 2019 2nd rounder they obtained, mitigating their risk. Trading Rosen that early probably saved Steve Keim's career as a GM. I remember in past years bringing up the fact that a team can't polish a 1st or 2nd round QB and turn around his career. I told people that JP would never come back to haunt us like some were posting & when we plucked Brian Brohm off GB's practice squad and his fanboys were bashing me for saying that there was no way Russ Brandon outsmarted 30 other GMs who let him sail through waivers before his sophomore season. Some gave the credit to Buddy Nix-think how ludicrous that sounds today-Buddy outsmarting 30 other GMs. I saw replies that I hated Brian Brohm & they "saw him play in college and he was a potential #1 overall pick." Logically, Russ Brandon, or Buddy Nix, was not capable of outsmarting guys like Ozzie Newsome & Bill Polian, among others. I've always believed that it's tough to ruin a talented QB short of getting him injured, and that almost all QB busts are the result of bad scouting & not bad coaches. My theory is bad QBs ruin coaches, not the other way around.
  5. Only players who haven't been able to practice since the start of camp are eligible for PUP.
  6. Rams to NFL: This is why we haven't had a 1st round pick since 2015. All they do is make you look silly.
  7. Years ago one of the best punters in the league was Randall Cunningham, but they wouldn't let him punt except once in a while. He had 20 punts for a 44.7 average but while with the Eagles he punted 12 times averaging 51.7 yards per punt. He never had a punt blocked and has the 3rd longest punt in NFL history at 91 yards:
  8. Every time the choice is between 2 Joshs, Rosen always loses.
  9. There's a Tweet posted with 55 guys who were at practice. You can find it & do the math.
  10. Marshawn asked to be traded because the Bills drafted Spiller in the 1st round and cut his playing time.
  11. The big problem I see is that SF went to the NFC championship game last year and is viewed as ready to win now. If Lance struggles, do they act like a team with championship aspirations, or do they accept that they're in a QB rebuild and take the growing pains which might cause them to go from the NFC championship game to out of the playoffs. We've seen coaches bail on young QBs during the drought. In 2005 JP got yanked for Kelly Holcomb & more recently EJ got yanked for Kyle Orton. In each case there was talk of the coach having to make the switch in order not to lose the locker room. So, does SF have the intestinal fortitude to keep sending out a struggling Lance, or do they go for more instant gratification with Garoppolo? Interesting that both Mularkey & Marrone quit after the season that they pulled the young QB.
  12. Jimmy has seen Lance play in preseason & is thinking to himself "I'll be starting by week 3"
  13. I'll side with Schefter's conclusion: The contract contains no-trade and no-tag clauses, assuring Garoppolo will remain in SF this season and have the freedom to leave in 2023.
  14. I guess you missed the no trade part of the contract.
  15. That's only because neither one has ever come out of his mom's basement.
  16. I've never seen a Pierre Kingpin rumor about the Bills before that didn't end up happening,
  17. Martin is the guy who hurt his ankle before the Bills game & couldn't play. I don't know how well he is. Might still be hurt but not bad enough for Denver to have to keep, but we might not want a P with a bad ankle. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/broncos_punter_sam_martin_suffers_ankle_injury_during_pregame_warm_ups/s1_127_37793727
  18. Interesting you brought up Al Davis. When Matt Millen was GM (Technically title was CEO) of the Lions he interviewed JaMarcus Russell and called his friend Al Davis & begged him not to take Russell because Russell was so bad in his interview with the Lions.
  19. Maybe times are different now but I remember the 1st thing they stressed in freshman orientation was the age of consent in NYS. They wanted to make sure we knew that if we picked up a local high school girl we could get in big trouble.
  20. I had the Giants radio postgame show on a few minutes ago & the guy said he expects the Giants to cut down to the mid-high 40s so they can pick up guys off waivers.
  21. Just wait until we sign the new punter. 300 page minimum.
  22. He & about 850 other guys who get cut by Tuesday will all be filing a class action suit Wednesday morning. 😄
  23. Beane & McDermott have arrived.
  24. They're in the fieldhouse. If you see part of a field & a door, you've got the right stream.
