MNF: Chicago Bears at NE Patriots - with Manningcast!
Albany,n.y. replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. It's much better to see the Patriots get destroyed again this week and send the Jets back to reality on our own the following week. -
That golf game Brady & Rodgers vs Allen & Mahomes really ruined Brady and Rodgers. They used up all their energy winning it and have nothing left for this football season. 😁

The ESPN video of the PC was much better than what I originally saw on NFL Network. ESPN showed the beginning NFL Network didn't. -

I just saw some if not all of it on NFL network. Pretty funny, monotone the whole time I wish he had a sense of humor and said "The Bears are who we thought they were" but unfortunately he didn't. Edit: ESPN is covering the recording of the PC better. Much more complete. -
The ones who bought them at halftime are returning them before they leave the stadium.

How could they draft & develop where they were drafting? Prior to the 2020 draft they thought Andrew Luck was their future for many years. He abruptly retired during the 2019 preseason after the draft. They wouldn't have found anyone in 2019 anyway. In 2020 the only QB who has worked out available by the time they drafted was Hurts. They didn't have a 1st rounder, so trading up wasn't an option. They tried with Jacob Eason in the 4th but that didn't work. In 2021 they took a 6th round flyer on Ehlinger & now he's starting. In 2022 they blew their #1 pick on Wentz when they traded for him in 2021. Realistically, 2022 was Kenny Pickett and a bunch of stabs starting in the 3rd round. They like Ehlinger, so now they'll try him out. The Colts are still feeling the effects of Luck's retirement and there have only been 3 drafts since he retired and virtually no chance to get high enough up to draft a guy they could reasonably expect to develop into their franchise guy. Some teams spend multiple 1st rounders through the years trying to draft & develop a QB and end up like the drought Bills instead.

They better not switch the game, I'm going on a bus trip & I don't want to get home after 10PM. The odds are against it. The 4:25 game is Rams & Bucs on CBS & it's their only game. It looked a lot better before the season started but it's still a shot to see Brady's farewell tour. I've had a game flexed from 1 to 4 back in 2006. I went to Baltimore & had my flight home set for Sunday evening & I had to leave early to catch my flight. However, it was the last week of the season & they flex a lot of games that week.

Colts benching Matt Ryan per Reich Benched regardless of injury
Albany,n.y. replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
They signed Kerry Collins while Manning's availability for the season was still up in the air. Kerry Collins started the 1st 3 games of the season, not Painter. Collins got a bad concussion & never played again. They couldn't just dial up another QB a month into the season & were stuck with the guy who was originally their 3rd stringer as the starter. If Irsay was that serious about tanking & was in on it, why did the coach & GM both get fired after the season? -

The decisions have been based on being in win-now mode. They didn't want to take the time to reset & develop a QB of their own, so ever since the year after Luck retired they have been bringing in guys who were good once and hoping to get a good season out of them. Only Wentz had any chance of being there a while & they (correctly) dumped him after 1 season. -

The Colts have had 5 different starting QBs in 5 straight seasons if you only can give them a credit for 1 each year. Assuming Ehlinger doesn't start next year, 6 starting QBs in 6 straight seasons with a different guy each year could end up being a record that will never be broken. -
How did Allen not dominate in college?
Albany,n.y. replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't get the skepticism. The Tweet is dated before the draft as are some of the replies. It was confirmed after the draft by Beane that the trade to 5 with Denver was real, with those exact picks being a part of the trade. However, that Tweet was 20 days before the draft so the order may have changed a little after final visits. As it appears on the board, Mayfield's visit was scheduled for 4/9. https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/report-bills-meeting-with-quarterback-baker-mayfield-next-week/article_a1f6fc77-97c0-5d66-a385-a1528db47e25.html Mayfield will visit the Bills next Monday and Tuesday, April 9 and 10, according to Mike Jones of USA Today. If Rudolph was the only guy left at 7, the Bills wouldn't have traded up. Look at the board again, the only 3 QBs the Bills were willing to trade up for were in order, Allen, Darnold & Mayfield. Most likely with no trade & none of the top 4 left by 12, the Bills take Edmunds at 12 & keep picks 21, 53, 56 and 65. They could have taken Rudolph with one of the 2nd rounders or pick 65 at the top of the 3rd round since all of those picks were above where Pittsburgh picked Rudolph in the 3rd round. I doubt they would have used pick 21 on Rudolph based on the fact that he fell to the middle of the 3rd round and Beane has proven over the years that he wouldn't have overrated a player by 2 rounds. -
When KC won the Super Bowl he played a great game. As the game progressed I kept saying to myself "Please don't give Sammy Watkins the MVP", fortunately it went to Mahomes & not Sammy.

This was from Sal's Twitter. The reason I posted it is because Sal has been talking about going to NYC and Yankee Stadium with his son while on WGR the last few days. I though it was a nice story that Sal and Max made it to the game. If Sal hadn't been telling the story on the radio the last few days I wouldn't have posted it, but I though some of the listeners would be glad to see they made it to the game. Obviously the detractors aren't fans of Sal, who is one of the few people on WGR worth listening to.

Since I grew up in the NY Metro area I went to my 1st Yankee game with my father at age 9. I appreciate the joy Sal & Max had going to the game.

It was needed. Your response wasn't. Go pee in some cornflakes when you go to Wegmans looking for Howard.

I still remember the time one of our fellow posters thought you were Billy Shaw and got mad at another poster for not showing you the proper respect that a Bills icon deserves.

I was sitting at my desk during lunchtime (I would never go on the internet during work hours 😉) and since our office was in downtown Albany I chose my name. I made a typo not capitalizing the N & Y and just left it there all these years.

Motor on what is special about Josh as a teammate
Albany,n.y. replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's a sports reporter for CNN. -
A lot of times when a team unexpectedly trades or waives a player, people question why without realizing that the coaches see the guy all week at practice when the rest of the league and fans only see the guy on Sundays. I think it's easier for the team a declining player or a bust draft choice is on to properly evaluate him than any other team & all fans. Carroll saw him just about every day last year in a 7-10 season & very well could have concluded Russ' best days were behind him. All Denver had was gameday films and maybe a pro scout or 2 who saw him play live in a game or 2. Another possibility was Pete saw how swelled his head had become & no longer wanted to deal with the guy.

Bills fans help old man in Steelers jersey during game
Albany,n.y. replied to BoccesOnTransit's topic in The Stadium Wall
It should have been titled "Disabled Man" , not Old Man. -
It's still a QB driven league. Even if SF gets to the Super Bowl, it's going to be Jimmy G vs a franchise QB from the AFC (hopefully Josh Allen). This reminds me of the time back in 2019 when I looked at an upcoming December night game Bills at Steelers where Pittsburgh was favored and thought Josh Allen vs Duck Hodges, laughed and then raced to the casino to bet the Bills on the money line.
-
I think he'd clear waivers & end up on a practice squad. Maybe we'll find out within the next year who is right because as of now it's too speculative to be anything other than an opinion.

The only way that's happening is if we get nothing back in return but give them a 3rd to take Moss off our hands. OK, time to ask a serious question: Why are there so many posters who believe Zack Moss, who has no trade value and might not even get picked up if we waived him, is someone any other NFL team would trade for? His career appears to be following in the footsteps of Robert Foster.
