  1. I'll ask this question again: How many teams have a 5 year coach/QB combo to begin with? A team has to be winning a lot of games for both the coach & QB to stay that long without one of them being replaced. There were only 9 coaches who were coaching into their 5th season or longer with the same team in 2022. Right off the bat there's a 72% chance that the Super Bowl winning coach will be one with less than 5 years on the job. Of the remaining 4 teams, only Reid's QB has been with his team 5 years, so there's a 75% chance that this year's winner will fit the stat. If you count Reid/Mahomes as already qualifying, it goes up to 100% this year, which still proves absolutely nothing. Going into this season only 8 starting QBs out of 32 (25% including Garoppolo) have been with their team 5 years or more. There are only 4 coach/QB combos of 5 years or more-that's 12.5%. The percentages of 5 year coach/QB combos are so low to begin with, when you start a season with only 12.5% of the situation existing to begin with, it's pretty easy for a clown on TV to pull a stat like that out of his @ss and think it makes him look like he's uncovered something. The natural odds are it's more likely to be a combo that's been together 5 years or less than 5 years or more since there is such a high turnover rate for coaches & QBs.
  2. The fact that there are only 2 such combos currently in the NFL shows how stupid this stat is. Brady & Belichick actually prove the stat wrong since they won Super Bowls well into their partnership, so at least Brady/Belichick are a coach/QB combo that won a Super Bowl beyond the 1st 5 years of their partnership. How many teams have a 5 year or more combo to begin with? If a team isn't winning the coach or QB gets replaced, many times both. Unless there's a franchise QB, odds of having the same QB & coach aren't very high. Andy Reid coached a long time before he got his 1st Super Bowl win, but because Mahomes fit the 5 year window the stat is good? No coach has ever won a Super Bowl with 2 teams, so statistically, any team that hires Sean Payton is guaranteeing they will never win a Super Bowl as long as he's their coach if you start believing all the obscure things some clown on TV can bring up.
  3. Let's get real. We need O-line, WR, DB and RB help this offseason. Beane is going to have to truly be a wizard to get this team to next year's Super Bowl with all the holes we need to fill. If Edmunds leaves there will also be a hole at LB. Bass is on the final year of his contract in 2023 & needs an extension. Lots of FA's, this offseason who if they leave could create more holes. Poyer almost certainly gone.
  4. I can say the same thing the other way. For example, what is Belichick's record without Brady? I could name most "successful" NFL coaches & the truth is that almost all have had 1 thing in common: A franchise QB.
  5. McDermott needs to bulk up & play on the O-line. If Josh wasn't scrambling on every play because of turnstiles like Brown & Saffold, the team would have played better and there would be no need for the McDermott detractors to rise from the peanut gallery and call for him to be fired.
  6. I'm more interested in firing RT & LG than any coaches. Our O-line is bad & needs 2-3 new starters. Not firing Bates but putting him back on the bench & grooming him to replace Morse.
  7. Here's an answer to both not spending #1s drafting WR or O-Line: For whatever reason they prefer veterans over rookies at both WR & O-line. The team has signed veteran free agents over drafting those spots on offense.
  8. So if the Jaguars beat the Chiefs will they lose their motivation since there would be no chance for a game in Atlanta? Mixon should be afraid that the Bills know that Cincinnati already sold tickets to the AFC Championship game in Cincinnati and will be motivated to feel the lack of respect the Bengals ticket office is giving the Bills. Earth to Mixon: All potential playoff game tickets are sold weeks in advance, including conference championship games that will never be played in the stadium of the team that sold the tickets. I remember one year when I still had seasons & the Bills sent out playoff ticket purchase orders when the chances of any home playoff games were slim & none. I remember opening the envelope (yes it was before e-mail) & laughing at the Bills for sending them out.
  9. Statically, Josh had virtually the same season in 2022 as he did in 2021.https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleJo02.htm
  10. The only team in their division they beat was Washington. What does their division have to do with anything when their record in the division was 1-4-1? A team whose coach goes 1-4-1 in the division & beats up on bad teams for two thirds of their wins is not going to have their coach win COTY. 3 wins were gimmes vs 3 horrible teams. Not mediocre, horrible. Those 3 teams are drafting 1,2 & 4. That's 1/3 of their wins. Also, in their final 8 games they went 2-5-1. Anyone who truly believes Daboll should be COTY is homering more than Barry Bonds on steroids.
  11. The 49ers won 3,5 more games than the Giants. 6 of the Giants 9 wins were against sub .500 teams. 3 of wins were against the worst, 2nd worst & 4th worst teams in the NFL. Those 6 games were against teams with a combined record of 32-68-2. The Giants 3 other wins were against Washington, Baltimore & Jacksonville. Most of the tough teams on the Giants schedule, they lost to.
  12. It's obviously Shanahan & the playoff game was after the votes were all in. All the Daboll is a lock folks will be sorely disappointed when the voters from the entire nation & not just followers of east coast teams vote. I wouldn't be surprised if Daboll finishes behind a coach in his own division, Nick Sirianni, who is the likely runner up. Daboll might also end up behind Kevin O'Connell. A 9-7-1 record while finishing 3rd in the division is not Coach of the Year material. But they vote when the season ends, so the playoffs don't count towards Coach Of The Year. If they waited the Super Bowl winning coach would win every year.
  13. When was the last time one of the Super Bowl final 4 within a conference or a top 2 seed has started a rookie 7th rounder or UFA QB? I can't think of any prior to Purdy. To have a late round/UFA rookie QB this ready is unheard of. Even Brady was a 2nd year player as a 6th rounder the year before and had a full season riding the bench as the team's 4th string QB.
  14. Shanahan turned Mr. Irrelevant into Filet Mignon.
  15. Let's get real. The clear winner is Kyle Shanahan, and when the real votes are in that's who will win in a landslide. Shanahan won his division, got the #2 seed & was undefeated in games started by the last player taken in the 2022 draft, QB Brock Purdy. He's on his 3rd QB and winning with a guy who never started an NFL game before he went in late in December. The poll above is the ultimate homer vote. Daboll did a good job, but he had the 3rd best record in his own division. Here's a dose of reality: The Giants were closer to last place in the NFC East than 1st place. The biggest thing Daboll did was prove that Joe Judge had no business ever being a head coach in the NFL. Daboll got a decent season out of the #6 overall pick, it's just not the same as winning with Mr. Irrelevant in his rookie year.
  16. What prior QBs at a school did in the NFL has nothing to do with the latest QB. How many NFL franchise QBs came from Wyoming prior to Josh?
  17. She was 85 when the game started😄
  18. We're not playing a divisional opponent next week. Before last week I wanted both NE & Miami out since a divisional opponent knows you better and can be your toughest playoff opponent regardless of record. We fans got complacent after blowing out NE last year and forgot just how tough a team that knows you can make things.
  19. Damar is staying home & watching on TV.
  20. This is similar to Bill Belichick who pronounces his father's name differently than how his name is currently pronounced. The discussion starts around the 30 second mark in the video.
  21. When I see stuff like this, it is assuming that Tua is done & will be retiring. That's really a stretch right now. If 2 weeks from now Tua announces his retirement, this makes sense, but right now it's premature.
  22. He's real and he's spectacular! He's a good fit in Shanhan's offense and that's all that really matters.
  23. At 24-0 I switched to the season premier of Your Honor on Showtime On Demand. Fortunately it ended before the Jags 2nd TD & I was able to watch the rest of the game. i
  24. I'd fire Staley in the locker room and put him on a separate plane home. i
