Mini rebuild. Why is anyone that surprised?
dorquemada replied to Blackbeard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely hate the bubble screen. Always seems to develop so slowly. And they always seem to run it at the worst time. Honestly hoping dogballs doesn't make it on the Giants and we can get him back as OC -

We're clearly not as good as anyone. We're better than the worst, and nowhere near good as the best. WC round or division, take your pick -
The next 5 games are very winnable.
dorquemada replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills need to focus like a laser on the Jets. If the Bills go into the game next week with the same pee wee game plan on O, the Jets DL is going to feast. In fact, if McD/Brady's plan is simply to do more of what's lost them the last 2 games, then it's absolutely a L and we're veering into lost season territory. Not because 6 games into the year is show over, but because that'll be going on a month where nothing is working and out coaching staff is fundamentally incapable of game planning, offensive creativity, or making a defensive stand when needed. Allen has had the Superman coached out of him, McDurrr has his boring run first offense, hates the downfield pass, so Allen has lost interest, and the entire team is reflecting that -

This is correct. If you've ever worked in a high performing organization, leadership are committed to continual improvement. Entire books have been written about it! When you work in organizations that are happy to get a gentleman's C, that's what you get. Steady as she goes, don't rock the boat because i still want to be able to sit in the suite at Madison Square Gardens and host customers, I really don't care what the share price is! Besides, constant improvement is hard and a lot of people don't like it. The Bills strike me as the latter type of organization. Anything can happen, a few lucky bounces and the Bills already would have made it to at least 1 superbowl so let's be very careful not to make any big changes.

Because we all allowed ourselves to believe that the Bills were the team they looked like through the 2024 Super Bowl against the Jags. With that monkey off our backs, we can resume the programming as per expected with JV receivers, a bad and undisciplined OL, and a D that loves to give up big plays on 3rd and long. There's relief in experiencing what we expect to rather than to be surprised! -
Always Bills first but there are other teams I follow. I enjoy young up and coming teams that have a buzz around them. Detroit is a fun team. It's fun to have another team that you follow but aren't as emotionally invested in. I even bought a lions hat when I was in Detroit a few months ago for work.

Smelly Jockstrap Awards (Not Game Balls) vs Texans

OK, would you replace McD with Bill Belichick? Or is BB too mystery box for you? -
Smelly Jockstrap Awards (Not Game Balls) vs Texans
dorquemada replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, because I'm clearly suggesting the Bills replace McD with Adam Gase. Because those are our only choices. That's literally the best defense of the current regime OH YEAH BUT THERE ARE LITERALLY WORSE COACHES OUT THERE -
Then he should sit. Heal up. Same with Allen. We know of at least 2 injuries, the hand and now the head. rest up, dont make it worse. Given the state of the offensive coaching, Trubisky can throw bad passes and hand off 30 times a game just as well as Allen

OK Coach McD's mom, we'll stop picking on him now -
The defense looked better when Nico Collins was out. How many 3rd and longs did the Bills give up yesterday? I guess we're just not going to agree and that's fine. To me he's one of the worst game day coaches in the league. His teams can never handle the slightest wrinkle.
-
If you really don't believe that McD is ideologically driven in his coaching style than it follows that you believe he's good at gametime decision making and in-game adjustments. Do you believe that?
-
His goal isn't to make the offense worse. The offense being terrible is a side effect of his monomaniacal focus on complimentary football and desire to field an offense that would have been perfectly average in the 1970s. His goal is to show everyone how brilliant his system is and isn't going to suddenly change course. He coaches by platitudes and when things go wrong he doubles down.

24 HRs Later Relooking At The Loss To HOU
dorquemada replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's certainly a must win, but probably more importantly it's going to show us if this team folds like a cheap suit or if there is any fight in them at all. If they're going to be tissue paper soft like yesterday and last week then i dont care if they win another game this year because it'll just be a quick playoff exit if we somehow manage to slip in. Maybe a real crash and burn type season rids us of coach mcdoofus. Who knows, in some alternative reality if Beane feels the heat he'll actually spend a high draft pick on someone that will help Allen rather than a bunch of stupid passion projects who all turn out to be JAGs -
Bad coaching will make merely adequate players seem terrible, and great players merely adequate The Bills have terrible coaching. Brady has nothing and is all out of ideas, meanwhile McD continues to pursue his system wherein the evidence of our eyes is ignored in pursuit of a ideological goal, which overrules common sense and the reality of the roster. Our defense continues to be unable to handle 3rd and long. Im sure someone keeps the stats, and maybe Ill go look for them later, but ive never watched a team, even a BAD team, that gives up as many 3rd and longs as the Bills the last several years. That's even with the massive investment year after year in the D. It's a fail and the sooner we acknowledge that the better we can all feel about being a .500 team

What O adjustments can the Bills make short of a trade?
dorquemada replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Also, if Allen actually has a concussion, they need to sit him for a couple games. Strait up there's something wrong with him and if it's nagging injuries, the time off will do him good, if it's something in his head leaving him in to get worse isn't going to help either. If we're just going to run run -2 yard pass punt, Trubisky can absolutely do that for a couple weeks -
The bigger issue is that our OL has completely collapsed. I'd like to think that at least some of Allen's poor play can be blamed on the fact that he's getting zerg rushed every single play. That's not going to stop either. Between the JV OL, and the laughable group at WR I don't see anything improving any time soon
-
Agreed 100%. Even his rookie year he threw some absolutely perfect passes to Robert Foster. That long ball touch is gone, I guess they coached it out of him in favor of throws behind the line of scrimmage that lose 2 yards. I sure am glad they invested so heavily in Samuel

dorquemada replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let's just stop pretending we have a passing game and go all in on primitive run concepts. Student body right, student body left, student body middle, punt. If McD is really serious about complimentary football he can punt on 3rd down so we can watch his vaunted D give up 3rd and long more often. So innovative, nobody will know what hit them! In all seriousness, Baltimore and Houston have shown the league how to beat the Bills. The chronic ignoring of the WR position has dictated this would happen, though I expect that Beane and McD were sniffing their own farts to the extent that they thought they could plug anyone off the street into this brilliant offensive scheme and it would work just fine. The front office and coaching staff must be exclusively yes men telling McD how smart he is, or they're just bad at football. -
We look like the slowest team in the league. To your point, it's going to be blitz blitz blitz and because Brady and McD are unable to alter their game plan to adjust, the blitzes will find home plenty. It's frustrating because the book is out on the Bills O now, and everyone knows it, but i'll bet my next paycheck that we see exactly zero adjustment on O. I don't think Brady is the guy, the moment is too big for him, and doesn't have the chops to counter punch. It almost feels like a scripted offense where they decided the plays beforehand and have zero interest in changing any of it regardless of the situation in the game. If I'm an opposing DC, I'm now licking my chops at the prospect of playing the Bills. It's embarrassing really and I get why Josh seems checked out.

10/6/2024 - Bills at Texans post game thread.
dorquemada replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I think we all knew the reality that they are lacking talent on O and the O-Line who looked good for a few games now have regressed to their historical mean. I'm not that enthusiastic about 2025 in that Beane will do what he always does; ignore WR, overdraft high motor DL, maybe some defensive backfield players bc I'm sure McD is nagging him 24x7 about that, and we're back in the hype cycle. They'll quietly get better and be a .500 team -
10/6/2024 - Bills at Texans post game thread.
dorquemada replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's a good point. McD seems much more driven by philosophical notion than simply doing what it takes to win. That's this whole process mantra, like you can boil human behavior and performance down to a few metrics, focus on those, and through the magic of complimentary football you somehow overcome all other obstacles. That's a long way of saying that we've seen McD's peak, and it is behind us. We're going to waste a generational talent on a set of theories that have already proven to be inadequate in the NFL to take the next step. Worse even than that is that we now have a team that's boring to watch, and every single one of us knew that when we flubbed the turnover and only got 3 points that the Bills were going to lose the game. In fact if I didnt have guests at my house for the game I would have gone outside at the half and enjoyed the day. We spend the rest of the year waiting for these games then the product on the field is amateurish, predictable, and boring. I don't know who needs to get benched or fired but we're staring down the barrel of a sub .500 season right now, with zero historical indication that McD has the ability to change course.
