Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe Jackson among others reinstated by MLB
Low Positive replied to Gregg's topic in Off the Wall
I'm torn on this. On one hand, Pete Rose is a Cincinnati institution. He is as Westside Cincinnati as a person can be. The westside is a weird place. It's a really insular working-class community that does not accept outsiders. Think South Boston or South Buffalo with all that goes with that. Except for the Irish thing, because here, of course, they are mostly ethnically German. Went to Western Hills HS. Graduated from high school (Western Hills) and got a tryout with the local MLB team and made the roster out of that first spring training. Really a local boy made good in every way. And when he opened a restaurant, he opened a diner across from Western Bowl (like saying "on Seneca by Caz Park"), not a downtown steakhouse (although he might have had one of those too). Pete Rose also lived in Western Hills. He never left the neighborhood. This was both good and bad. Pete got himself into debt. Everyone knows a bit about the gambling. but it was much worse than he admitted to. It has recently come out that he bet on baseball all during his career as a player, and owed lots of money to organized crime figures all around the tri-state area. Here is an article from the Dayton Daily News: https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/part-2-the-pete-rose-tapes/U7NP35XRMFAYTD3VBLQP5WMUIY/ So for his entire career he was in debt to organized crime because he was betting big money on baseball while he was a player (he owed $30,000 to one bookie 1973 and tried to pay it off by betting with another). This is a lot bigger than placing a few bets at Draft Kings. But then again, there is no evidence that he threw a game. In fact, he played at 100mph every second he was on the field. So, like I said, I'm torn. -

Great song and good playing. I don't like putting a Floyd on a Les Paul Classic, but that is the guitar player in me. Whenever someone tells me that there is no good music anymore, I usually pull out either Mei Semones or Yvette Young. Here's Mei

This song, like a lot of 70's Italian pop songs, was very popular in the Soviet Union.

My mistake.

Another one - Trey Hendrickson asks for a trade from Cincy

They spent all their money making sure that Joey Burr Burr doesn't feel like he's at home alone. -
And you didn't really care if they won or lost after October 1st. Fun times indeed.

This is the best plan.

I played EA College Football 25 this evening as OSU and Hancock got two sacks on safety blitzes.

The NBA does this a lot and they don't even try to hide it. Remember when the Pels traded AD to the Lakers and then, lo and behold, they won the Zion lottery? Or when LeBron went to Miami and the Cavs won the lottery the next year for Kyrie? Or how about back when Shaq went to the Lakers and Orlando won the lottery the following year. They use draft lottery promises to get stars to big markets. If the NFL were the NBA, Mahomes would be a Jet by now and Josh would be a Giant.

I really try to keep listening to new music. Here is a tune from 2025

I never want to hear someone here cite the number of catches and yards without the number of targets. Bowers was the ONLY receiving option in LV last year. He was 4th in the league and first amongst TEs in targets with 153 targets. Kincaid had 75. The great Bowers had 1.8 more yards per target than that bum bust Kincaid. And the most important stat? The Raiders won 4 games. The Bills won 13.

Weeks 2, 3, and 4. Week 1 against the Cards was 1:00 Sunday.

Burrow. But in general, you’re correct. Most of the great ones have some aspect of their game that can be improved. -
They simply have to trade for Cousins now. They have no choice.

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
Low Positive replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree, but they got 11 pages out of it. -

While we are engaged in our yearly WR complaint session, one of the key members of one of the best WR rooms in the league went on IG and didn't include his starting QB in his personal top 5. It's causing quite the stir this spring as the temperatures begin to rise in South Florida. You can read all about it right here: https://finheaven.com/threads/tyreek-reeking-again.387172/ -
Thought Exercise: Best Bills QB (99-2017) who'd be JA17 backup
Low Positive replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Both Bledsoe and Flutie wouldn't accept roles as backups. Flutie would cause endless trouble in the locker room because of this. Fitz has that whole history of the starter getting injured. I vote Tyrod. -
And my nomination for the most surprising cover of all time...

That's a shame, but I just checked Spotrac and he made over $250,000 for doing nothing and he got to use the Jets facilities for PT. Not too shabby.

So far in this thread I've been Brandon Beane and Dalton Kincaid. Can I be Josh Allen instead?

Shedur Sanders Make To Round 5? (Poll) - UPDATED x 3
Low Positive replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unless he wins the competition out of camp, I think the Browns will cut him. Too much of a distraction for a backup QB.
