  1. I'm having flashbacks of the wailing and knashing of teeth from when we let Josh Reed go.... Would you take Chan Gailey and David Nelson or Marrone and a couple decent pass catching tight ends? Seems to me that those routes against lb's/safeties will be taken by te's in Marrones offense and the number three receiver will need to do a little more. Can anyone tell me why with all these wonderful measurements Mr Nelson didn't get the #2 spot locked up in the 2011 season and beyond?
  2. That may be true of nfl boards, but early in the process phrases like "if he's there at 8 you have to take him" were bantied about on this board. I thought at one point (kiper?) had him top 5, maybe even close to #1 overall? Mayock was right in that mix also, and he saw every game so it wouldn't suprise me that coming out of the end of the regular season T'eo was pretty high (top 10) on some nfl boards, maybe not all of them. I agree that his other games were not that impressive athletically, but he does seem to have a good set of instincts. I also agree with you that he is more of a 2nd/3rd round player. I think he is probably best suited to being the run stopping ilb in a 3-4.
  3. If you're going to do it, may as well get their 2014 1st rounder for the 22nd overall and maybe a 3rd or 4th this year.
  4. I'd rather see this next year. Seems like the talent pool is deeper and the chances are better.
  5. Since he is back (and Corp) I think there's an idea of who liked him and who didn't.
  6. Question is what do you pay him, just as it was with D Bell. Moore probably wants to see what the open market holds for him while the Bills want to pay him what they see - a backup DE with some promise. And that's assuming Pettine sees a role for him in the defense which may not be a given. So really, what do you have at DE? Williams, Anderson and Kelsay. Maybe some other players depending how Pettine stacks them, maybe a rookie or a FA.
  7. Now you're just being silly. There will always be something to complain about. Always.
  8. I don't think merriman or moore are currently under contract.
  9. Well, I think if we do that and start him it could be a good way to pick high again next year. So there's that....
  10. I think it's going to be a very interesting draft with regards to the players taken. Everyone's talking about all the defensive talent, but with all the offensive coaches hired this offseason I wouldn't be surprised if the offensive players are overdrafted in the first round. It seems most of the front offices are looking to improve their offenses instead of their defenses. It may leave a decent lb for us in the second round, but maybe not a wr or qb.
  11. I remeber when they drafted him Buddy mentioned safety was a possibility but they wanted to try him at corner first. http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/Buddy_Nix_on_2nd_Rd_Pick_Aaron_Williams/475aa86b-553e-4568-b4f6-ddd5df7b8ef1
  12. Sure, let's go db/db in rounds one and two this year
  13. According to PFT, we tried to pick him up but didn't have waiver priority. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/24/jaguars-put-three-on-ir-claim-pair-off-waivers/
  14. I thought occurred to me - maybe he spent a large amount of time studying for his classes instead of extra time with the football side of things.
  15. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I haven't looked at his gamelights, but it seems to me everything under the bad section could be attributed to doing the "above and beyond" work that's needed in the nfl, practicing the little things until you don't have to think about it for example. If he has the physical tools, it sounds like he would be an extraordinary 3rd qb so that if he gets it he could be a valuable member of the team.
  16. I agree with you on Nassib. I'm hoping that Marrone's system will make whatever qb we start in 2013 better, but I'm hoping for a free agent to compete with Fitz and drafting a guy later to hopefully be a backup. Then get someone in the draft next year.
  17. They'll be as tarnished about as much as the steelers of the 70's were tarnished for their early adoption of steroids - not much.
  18. I don't see the difference between this and what Suh did against that GB olineman. He chose to raise the leg up with no other intent than to hurt reed. I loved seeing the looks on brady's face pretty much the fourth quarter, and especially after he threw the one pick. I could see in his mind "that couldn't have happened to me, I'm Tom Brady". I'm glad the pats* continue to prove they can't win the super bowl without cheating.
  19. I think what you're saying jw is Brandon is making his mark already, and I doubt the cloaking device will be getting better from your standpoint. I believe (hope) Russ has learned to stay out of the personnel decisions from his time at gm and he was pretty adamant during the presser regarding his involvement. Probably because he wanted to make his mark with those first round picks and it didn't work out so well. As for the coaches, I think the ownership situation is still tenuous enough that the "retirees" are not attracted. Also, why take a job where the organization has shown they will not do what it takes given the fact that we haven't been in the playoffs for so long? I think some very qualified people would look at the risk and say why bother. I don't think OBD will have enough time to prove they can put a winning organization together before the ownership changes and the coaches that have their choice probably don't even want to get involved. At least the roster brought in some interviews, but I think we're still 4 starters away from the playoffs and a few more from contending for the super bowl. So I guess what I'm saying is either we're going to catch lightening in the bottle or just be bumping along as we have been for the last 13 years. This job is not one of the premier jobs in the nfl at this point. Thanks for spending time with the rabble.
  20. Well, Danny's learned from Scott O'Brien who's special teams are usually among the best, so you've got that going for you. If you want to talk about coaching trees and all.
  21. I'll throw my hat in for Ogletree being better also. After watching him against alabama and a couple other teams he looked much better. I'd like to see him on the team but I don't know where his value is. I watched a couple games of Te'o since his supporters are mentioning his body of work and he looks like the same player all year to me, he was just kept a lot cleaner against the likes of michigan and Miami.
  22. Hopefully we're not drunk.
  23. If I remember correctly there was concern the Bidwell's wanted Leinart to sell tickets, and that was not the only concern about owner "meddling". Haven't paid attention lately, but when Wiz went there I thought the situation reminded me of our own from the ownership standpoint. Haven't paid enough attention lately to say it's still the same or if it has gotten better.
  24. Seemed to me he went north to get some head coaching experience, not sure if he would take an OC job without exhausting all possibilities for a HC job at the nfl level.
  25. Maybe they're just getting Whaley some interviewing experience. Don't think Buddy will be around next time.
