FIFY. He hasn't been good. He's been very bad. He's 25 years old with little NFL experience. He may never be good or even a good backup and may be out of the league soon but he's at an age and level of experience where he still has time and a lot of room to get better and people that work hard at something can get better. He had to leave Buffalo for the good of both him and the team but to declare him not competent or to say that he will never be competent (even if that turns out to be true) is premature.

Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
keepthefaith replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Why wait for the election and risk losing all that time and further risk that Bernie doesn't make it and/or that Congress fails to act on your behalf. Take that sign to a busy street corner along with a bucket. -
Refugee Crisis in the U. S. (?)
keepthefaith replied to B-Man's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The old Democrat party would support better working conditions and wages for Americans working in those plants. Hot, dirty, monotonous and dangerous sounds like he's describing auto worker assembly plant conditions from the 60's. Not to mention that maybe we don't want our meat processed in dirty plants. -
Morse is a big risk at this point. Bodine likely stays put.

You know what's bad for the Raiders other than having 9 years left on Gruden's deal? Having Mike Glennon as their backup QB. That dude was here in Chicago in 2017. He's awful.

Good for Nate having a decent outing and fighting the good fight.

What is better, no guns, or more guns?
keepthefaith replied to Security's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Very complicated issue. Constitutional rights, states rights, federal jurisdiction over some of it and very few facts in the public debate. The issue or the challenge of reducing these incidents deserves a thorough look and if we can come up with some new rules that will help reduce gun crimes while not impeding the rights of citizens then those changes should be determined, supported by good data and implemented. -

At this point he'll take any support he can get. -
The soybean market is a global market, a commodity like many others. If China buys soybeans from producers other than the U.S. then other customers will go wherever they get the best price. There might be some short term chop in the market but the rules of supply and demand shall apply.

Possibly the Krafts or someone close buying the home for above market value?

Exactly and with only a 3 car garage?

Wanting more equitable trade between the 2 nations is stupid?

Yes but I have to give Trump high marks for making the effort to solve some things. Other Presidents just let ***** fester and kicked the can down the road. Trump is at least taking on some issues.

Agree and there is more at stake than just trade. A friendly and cooperative relationship with China will provide benefits in other areas as well. We don't want another cold war and it would be a plus if we can also convince them to clean up their environmental act a bit.

Do you think that if Trump loses his successor is gonna stay on the same path with China? Very doubtful IMO. What I do think will happen is that these current events will convince many U.S. CEO's that China is not the best place in which to set up shop. You can almost feel a cold war coming given the economic, technological and military rivalry that is developing. I just don't see the Chinese being as accommodating to the U.S. than as we have been to say the Japanese and the Japanese auto industry. That meaning that China is a lot less likely to welcome foreign companies to gain market share on their soil. Their style has been to steal/copy or buy their way in (Lenovo and Ingram Micro) to markets.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
keepthefaith replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not going to blame politicians for Dayton and El Paso but if we're blaming politicians for El Paso then we have to blame those that have allowed essentially open borders due to their lack of taking action on it for decades. Trump is trying to solve the problem left in his lap by others. -
The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

74 were shot in Chicago just last week. Not in the entire state of Illinois, not the Chicago area, just within the city limits. That, though, does not excuse what happened in Dayton and El Paso. -
Well that gives me comfort knowing the Chinese are willing to be best bidder for some of our debt and help us to fund the cocaine that drives our economy. On the other hand their investment in our stable currency + 2% beats the ***** out of their falling currency. All hail to Trump and Xi for making it happen.
