  1. Ah, but there is a difference. When the ball is snapped, the Bills defense retreats. The Titans defense attacks.
  2. A strong pass rush is fundemental to a winning defense. When you're not getting pressue on the QB as the Bills didn't on Sunday, it's time to try something other than the vanilla 4-man rush. Seems like the Bills did more of that (sent a 5th or 6th rusher) earlier in the season.
  3. 5. The head coach chooses number 3 above and the results say he should have made a change in strategy. I'll save you the reply "hindsight is 20/20".
  4. This is frightening if true. It means either: 1. The head coach is not willing to overrule a coordinator. 2. The head coach doesn't overrule the coordinator because he doesn't know what to change.
  5. Last year I thought the Bills braintrust learned that Roscoe can make plays and that he drives defenses crazy with his quickness. I thought I heard the coaches say they need to get him the ball more. 7 games in he's got 10 catches. 35 catches last year. Hardy not playing much, so they've gone away from Roscoe for some reason. They have thrown more to the backs. Lynch and Jackson have 42 catches combined.
  6. Good info here. Fewell is not the problem. It has to be Jauron. If Jauron didn't agree with Fewell's strategies, he would certainly tell him to change it. Particularly for the defense since Jauron's coaching experience is mostly on the defensive side of the ball. The Bills IMO gave the Dolphins "O" far too much respect yesterday. The only way Pennington beats a team is by playing the short game. He's done that most of his career. He's not a QB that will beat you deep. So what do the Bills do? Gave him exactly what he wanted. Gave him the short stuff all day. Rushed more than 4 guys very sparingly. The cover 2 depends upon a good pash rush from the front 4, BUT when you aren't getting pressure from the front 4, there has to be a plan ""B". Plan "B" probably didn't get used as the Bills were winning the game until late. You wonder if the Bills were behind at the half whether or not any change in approach would have been used. Jauron is a very polite man who deploys a polite game plan. It's a "we'll take what you give us and we'll give you a little bit" approach. He has never expressed publically to my knowledge a desire or intent to dominate the opponent. Too risky for this coach. Time will tell if he is able to direct and lead a team to a playoff victory. Certainly the Bills are in a very good position this year to gain a playoff birth. How they respond to this loss both as coaches and players is what matters most.
  7. Makes you long for the long ball.
  8. They're out-trenting Trent.
  9. Sooner or later, a defense looks at what you like to do on offensive and takes it away from you. The Bills can expect more teams to better defend the short passes until they find a way to beat that coverage.
  10. I'd rather look at your avatar pic.
  11. Are you kidding? They must have averaged 6-7 YPC on the Wildcat runs. Fish have beaten both division leaders this year. It'll be a dogfight to win the AFC East and make the playoffs. All 4 teams are in it.
  12. I would have waited until the team got through this stretch of division opponents. Hopefully it's an incentive laiden deal with a big bonus for playoff success.
  13. Don't get me started on Barack.
  14. Unfortunately Toyota is kicking the ass of our domestic automakers. Big trouble within GM, Ford and Chrysler.
  15. He'll get things right with Davis. SF might not be the right place for him. The wine and cheese crowd loves a winner, but has never seen a coach of his style. Might be a square peg there. Detroit a better fit.
  16. Please. Trent held the ball in the end zone way too long. Take another look. You can't friggin stand back there like you're on the 50 yard line. He had time to throw it. He didn't. He threw passes in the dirt, threw into coverage, got sacked another time when holding the ball a long time and had 3 turnovers. Yeah, the safety is a turnover. A bad one. He's a good QB, but if we're going to crucify other QBs on this board for doing the same thing, then Trent deserves the same treatment. He played his worst ever good weather game today. He was bad. Period. Several players were bad. Now let's take it out on the Jets next week.
  17. By the way, love the avatar and signature quotes.
  18. I agree. When you're that close and in good weather that early in the game you should go for it. I don't know how the same coach can kick for 3 there and then call 3 straight passes from your own end zone when you're running the ball pretty well.
  19. You're right, 5-2 is a great start. Better than most expected I think. We all have our standards of success. Mine for Jauron is simply a playoff win followed by another birth in the playoffs at least. Assuming he has the talent (and it appears he has a good young team on his hands), anything less won't erase the poor track record of his past for me. I don't see the need for the front office to have extended him this soon.
  20. I'll say now that Singletary will be a very successful head coach in the NFL for a long time IMO. The guy has incredible guiding principles, leadership and determination. He's a proven winner as a player, a businessman and a man. A guy you root for.
  21. Well, there's no chance this coaching staff sits Trent. In fairness, however, JP was not permitted by most people on this board to have a bad game.
  22. Ginn had no turnovers. Trent had 3. The safety is the same as a turnover and that one's on him.
  23. Please. He was often awful today.
  24. Both the Dolphins and Bills coaching staffs worked all week to plan for this game. The coaches make the offensive and defensive calls during the game. The players carry out the plays and the plan. Yes, Bills players got beat by Miami players often today, but you'd have to say that the Miami plan and plays worked better than that of Buffalo. Certainly the coaches played a role in the loss.
  25. Go look again. He was pretty bad today. Turnovers, sacks for holding the ball too long, missed some easy throws, threw into coverage, looked lifeless on the bench between series. Sound familiar? He was not alone. Poor performance by many today.
