Vick may get out next summer.......
keepthefaith replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see the Raiders hiring Denny Green as coach and then signing Vick. They and Al Davis all deserve each other. -
Until he plays well in those conditions, there will be worry.
-
Hey, I left Buffalo in '94 and have stayed loyal to this team all the while through some pretty crappy years. The faith continues. Bills are playing quite well, and there is value in keeping expectations on the lower side. Like a number of coaches have said, "you're never as bad as they say after a loss or as good as they say after a victory". Best to under promise and over deliver in football and in life.
-
A win in the playoffs. Until he delivers that, he's still the same Dick Jauron to me. Heck, if this poll were done after the AZ game, the numbers would likely be much different on this subject. 1 week or 6 weeks is not a trend. A full season and a playoff game is a reasonable sample. What kind of approval would Tom Coughlin had last year after the Giants first 6 games? Not very good. A super bowl victory and a great start this season make that a different story.

I don't like Wilfork, but to me he looks tougher than anyone on the Bills in many years. Where's Conrad Dobler when you need him?
-
You're watching Dick Jauron football and yesterday's win was a perfect example of his recipe. Run the ball effectively, throw short high percentage passes, control the clock, win the turnover battle and capitalize on late mistakes by the opponent. Win the game at the end. That's his way. It's not always exciting, but it's working so far this season.

Whitner disses JP in a roundabout way...

You my friend sound like the loser. Did you watch the AZ game? The QB play was not the difference in that game. Please. -
Whitner disses JP in a roundabout way...

\ JP could still go and have a very nice NFL career somewhere. Don't count the guy out. Those of us that supported JP as the starter last year did so in part because Edwards didn't do much last year (particularly in the last few games of the season) to show he should be the starter. What I said during the off-season was that the debate about Trent being the starter could be easily resolved if Trent played on the field like he deserved to be there and so far this year he's proving that he deserves to be a starter in the NFL and that's great. Trent's play has no bearing at all on whether or not JP is also a capable starter. Only JP's play (in Buffalo or somewhere else) will determine that. -
Trent's agent would probably like to get him signed to a competitive contract. He's making about $400K this year. Another concussion or two this year or next (if he's not re-signed) or other injury could be devastating financially if he plays out his rookie deal much longer.

Calling Crayonz! Can we win with glove boy in January? Cold weather wasn't kind to him last year.

TBN / Bob DiCesare: Bills Froze at the Gonzalez table

I'm surprised he didn't blame the McCargo flop on JP as well. -

Git 'er done! -
Not bad. What's amazing is that the JP/Trent debate is now a year old and still going strong. Thousands of posts later, it hasn't even come close to an end. Good stuff!

Sirius "Movin' the Chains" predicts a 9-7 record
keepthefaith replied to Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would say it hinges on the overall play of the defense and the offensive line. -
Relax, there is a double standard around here. Edwards is only praised for the good things he's done and JP is only criticized for the bad things he does. Trent has had a few stinky halves of football this season, and has at times looked every bit as ugly as JP. He's been sacked after holding the ball to long. Has overthrown and underthrown receivers, had poor touch on some passes, has thrown too high and too low. He has also thrown interceptions. JP had far more good plays than bad on Sunday, but 2-3 plays along with poor blocking up front and the season's worst defensive performance all fall on his shoulders. Trent had he been in there for the entire game would have taken a beating as well and would have made some bads plays of his own. Fortunately for him, he was spared with an early exit while the rest of the team got whipped.
-
Expect Trent's agent to knock on the door soon. No way he wants his client starting at QB and making only about $400K and risking injury. He's far underpaid as a starter and if injured for the long term is leaving millions on the table.
-
Way too much common sense and logic here.
-
Warner's a very good QB. What's very clear to me is that the Bills defense plays poorly when JP is in the game. Both last year and again last Sunday. The conspiracy should be investigated. It's uncanny.
-
I give Trent Credit for completing his last pass under pressure. On that play, Hardy is wide open over the middle right in front of Trent. Not the case on most of the plays where Losman was sacked, although on one play JP missed a hot read receiver open to the right. Trent would have taken a beating yesterday as well IMO.
-
After replaying the game, it looked obvious to me that any QB in there would have been getting his butt up off the turf several times yesterday. If Trent had played the whole game, we'd probably be talking today about the lousy game he had.
-
If you have the time watch it. It will help you separate fact from much of the fiction on the board today.
-
Careful, the Bills have yet to beat the Dolphins.
-
I felt that many on this board were too euphoric at 4-0. Now we'e seeing the knee-jerk in the other direction. 4-1 is near the top of the league. Stay tuned, more wins and losses (highs and lows) to follow.

There is more to this loss then people want to see
keepthefaith replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As painful as it was, I watched every one of what people on this board would call "bad plays" by JP again last night. All in slow motion. He had a couple of stinkers, but had Trent been in the game to the end, he would been drilled to the turf more than a couple times as well. Any QB would have. Trent in each of his games this year has had ugly plays. All QBs do. Give the Cardinals some credit, line stunts and mismatches in pass protection (like asking Fred Jackson to block a big rusher coming up the middle) resulted in sacks. The defense's inability to stop the Cardinals took away any running game the Bills might have preferred to use. The Bills were badly outplayed yesterday on both sides of the ball. Heck, it even looked like Mike Gandy handled Aaron Schobel pretty well yesterday. Who would have thought that at game time yesterday? -
No way the Royal fumble gets overturned

By now Jauron realizes he should have challenged the call.
