They're not a very good team. How could they not run the ball on 2nd and 3rd down there? These coaches don't know when to take a risk and when to make the higher percentage call.
How can you rule out JP as a good starter in the NFL? You can't. Now maybe nobody signs him a contract and hands the job to him, but he may earn it somewhere. The NFL is full of guys that didn't get off to a fast start in their careers and went on to be starters.
This is all a part of the Jauron master plan. Eventually he wants 11 DBs on defense. In addition to drafting so may DBs, he's moved Wilson from WR to Safety and is now moving DBs in to LB positions. He tried it with Wire last year, but he got away in free agency. Right now tricky Dick is looking for more offensive players to move to DB and plans to fill more LB spots and even D-line spots with DBs. Evidence of this is the weak pass rush that the Bills have and dropping D-lineman into coverage. Just all part of the master plan. You can't give up 31 points to a bad team even when your offense scores 54. Too risky and too stressful.
A. He loves the game and will be in demand
B. His millions have been reduced in the stock market
C. Interest rates for cash investments are about 3%
D. Broadcasting probably doesn't turn him on the way coaching does
E. $4 million a year plus is hard to turn down given A-D.
It all hinges on Ralph. You would think that at his age he would want to win NOW and be willing to spend some money to do it.
Part of me thinks that he's managing the team to profitibility in order to help keep the team in Buffalo. If it makes profit in Buffalo, then there is a better chance of getting local buyers. If he were to throw caution to the wind and spend more (which might reduce profit) then it would be harder for a local buyer to rationaize the purchase if there is a poor return on the investment. Ralph is no dummy.
Would like to see him "go for broke" though.
Jauron apparently has a big say in personnel decisions in Buffalo. That's a lot pf power. Probably too much for a guy who needs to figure out how to beat a good team. What else would Holmgren want?
Tennessee about to be 11-1 with a castoff QB, 2 castoff WRs and a rookie running back. Sure they have some talent on defense, but they are a good example of what a difference good coaching makes. Bills front office, take note!
I could support your idea that he's not valuable as a receiver if the Bills offensive braintrust had any track record of success in the passing game in the NFL. They don't and as far as I'm concerned, any and all talent on the offensive side of the ball will be wasted by this staff.
And I thought this was a thread wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
A great holiday. One of the few times a year when most of the country shuts down for 4 straight days. Very relaxing. Enjoy it with or without football.
