Injury update: Ain't looking to good
keepthefaith replied to DaGimp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never did we think that Josh Reed was a guy we couldn't live without. -
That would be just enough of a tease to give hope that he can be winning head coach.

FAR too much baggage.

Losman should be our starting QB
keepthefaith replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The coaches should have been able to quickly realize last night that after the 3 picks, Edwards was playing scared. He basically threw it to Lynch for the rest of the game. They should have realized that his lack of confidence was holding back the team. You have a guy on the bench who plays with a lot of confidence in a game where it's do or die to keep pace in the division. Problem is, this head coach doesn't mind an overly cautious jittery QB who wants to make the safest play on every snap. Keeps this coach in the comfort zone too. What JP may have done last night was get the Bills in the end zone once more in the second half which would have won them the game. Trent was not playing in a fashion to do that. Only a superhuman effort by Lynch and McKelvin kept it close. Just a bit more from the QB would have made a difference and instead of sitting Trent down and coaching him through the bad stuff this week at 6-4, they're doing it at 5-5. Sure, no guarantee that JP would have won it but when Jaworski can sit in the booth and comment on multiple plays that Edwards is missing open receivers and not even looking at them, you have to assume the coaches know that too. They chose to do nothing. The Bills lost. Edwards was not playing winning football last night. Evans leaving the locker room abruptly says it all. -
I think the Bills have some very good budding talent. Still a few players away, but they have to start by getting a damn head coach that can get the most from good talent which is not the same as getting the most from questionable talent by playing a low risk game to minimize errors. Better players are capable of doing more. Do more with them.

ESPN Radio- talking about game last night
keepthefaith replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have done a bit of play action. Trent doesn't sell it well and you're asking him to take his eyes off the defense momentarily which is not playing to his strength (reading the defense quickly). I don't agree with it, but that might be part of the reason. -
how can Evans have no catches?

Basically after the 3 picks, Edwards threw most of his passes to Lynch. He didn't throw it down the field. He made Jauron like a drunken sailor in comparison. -
Turk Schonert Needs Some Blame Here
keepthefaith replied to TheChimp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lynch had a nice game to a great extent because they got him the ball away from the pile. That was a plus to take away from the game. Looks like the coaches learned something there. Should have been obvious weeks ago. I don't know how bad Trent would have to play to get pulled in favor of JP. I don't buy the thought that he would be emotionally damaged. Looks to me like Jauron's first objective is to not cause a controversy more than to win the game. I think it's no coincidence that the offense under Turk or Steve is getting similar results. The overall approach is driven from the head coach. Keep the game close, hope (pray) to win it in the end. Shame on the Bills for not figuring out how to use Roscoe more in the passing game. -
I think Hardy answered the question as to why. He doesn't know what's going on. Without the coaches saying so, it looks in recent weeks like he is not grasping the mental part of the game.

Time to give Cowher the keys to the kingdom
keepthefaith replied to cale's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Front office showed a lack of experience in extending him so soon when his teams can't beat an opponent with a winning record. Hopefully the deal is structured in such a way that he can be replaced without the expense of doing so being a big motivating factor to keep him. He's be OK if he had 2 very strong experience coordinators that bring great X' and O's to the party. He's got relatively inexperienced coordinators. -

Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer for him to do that. -
Is Jauron the worst head coach in the league?

Playoffs = pressure and risk. Jauron does not like pressure and risk. -

How bad does Trent have to play before they sit him on the bench for a couple of quarters? 4 interceptions, 5? Maybe a couple of fumbles too? -
Don't forge the center position itself. That needs an upgrade my gosh.

Hamilton repoting Evans wide open all game...
keepthefaith replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he isn't. Maybe he just over achieved earlier or maybe teams have learned how to now defend him and he has yet to overcome that. -
It's way too late to try and apply the same level of scrutiny to Trent as JP was subjected to. If there was a game this year where it would have made sense to put Trent on the bench, it would have been this one. Shows you these coaches have no intention of doing that even if it means losing the game.

You have supported your position with too many facts and too much common sense. Take it further out on the limb. -
I may be Jauron's biggest critic on this board, and I think I can defend him a bit tonight. I saw some good things. Running out of the shotgun was effective. You can see that getting Lynch past the line of scrimmage has tremendous value. They did some things to get him the ball away from the pile. Defensively they went after the QB with a bigger pass rush and made some plays. It hurt them on a couple but overall it was a plus in the game. On the last possession, you can question the 3 runs at the end. I think you expect to gain a few more yards than they did, but again you can see that when you plan to run into the pile and the other team knows it, not much is gained. Running left and putting the ball to the left hash is questionable unless Lindell wanted it there. On a tough night to kick at that end of the field, you really don't want it to be a 47 yarder. A short play action pass would have been low risk on 1st or 2nd down. Dick made some changes from previous weeks. It almost worked. Turnovers again were the downfall.

Steve Johnson looks to have some ability. Sure handed, open a bunch and made some blocks. I'm keeping an eye on him. Still not using Roscoe enough.

Had the kick gone through, it was the running game tonight and plays by Lynch that covered Trent's ass. -

I belive that JP should play in games under 45 degrees.

Sully's Article Raises Questions...
keepthefaith replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we learn a lot about this coaching staff tonight. Bills are at home against a weak opponent (record-wise). They have struggled to score points and to get pressure on the opposing QB. A win tonight keeps them in the playoff hunt. A loss puts them on the outside looking in. What they've done on both sides of the ball in recent weeks isn't working well. You would think that tonight playing in a crucial game at home against a weaker opponent (with a very young QB) that the coaches will be more willing to blitz more on defense and make some calls on offense that keep the Browns defense guessing. Run from the shotgun. More play action. Throw it at times when it looks like you might run and run when it looks like you might pass. It would seem to me that this is a game where you try to put more pressure on the other team. We'll see.
