Exactly. Football is a passionate game and passion sometimes creates some fireworks. If the players and coaches can't handle a little of that once in a while, they shouldn't be there. I've seen more inspiration and passion from some of my kids' football teams and coaches than from the Bills. No exaggeration.
It might more profitable to field a winning team than a loser. Winners get playoff revenue, sell more stuff and can charge more for tickets. Even Frugal Ralph should understand this.
Looks like Cohwer, Shanahan, Gruden, Holmgren and Billick might all be available next year. Each has at least one ring. I'd have those 5 on my list and would add a couple of younger guys as well.
Tough to do in a state like NY that is so heavily weighted to 1 party and when so many members of that party vote their party regardless of who the candidate is. Al Franken comes to mind in a similar scenario. Good thing for the Bills that both parties want them in Buffalo.
I believe that any rule/law/policy that favors any race over the other is just wrong. That said, Indy has had Caldwell on their staff for years and they obviously feel that he is head coach material. Teams should be able to hire whoever they want and interview whoever they want.
Jauron likes to use 3rd down to set up the kicking game. Usually to punt but sometimes for a field goal. 4th down can sometimes be used to get a first down, but only if it's really close. It's better to play it safe on 3rd down because you're usually kicking after 3rd down.
I don't think it's insulting. This is a place to vent as much as it is to be "rah-rah" about the team. Look to me like venting will be the dominant activity for a while.
Given the track record of this coaching staff, nobody should be surprised if JP plays well somewhere in the future. JP's biggest problem is playing in the NFL farm system (the Bills) for too long. Trent should make a move to the big league now if he knows what's good for him.
1. Identified the head coach as the weakest link on the team.
2. Retained the head coach to better position the team for the Cowher derby in 2010.
3. Maintained continuity and losing for next year to assure another good draft position and to keep the value of Bills free agents low due to lackluster individual performance (a brilliant cost saving move).
Agree, the roster makeover has done nothing and the coaching has not been improved and that's what the results say. It appears that Ralph has decided to wait another year before he makes any moves. If he can take a year off, so can the fans.
