Senators Urge N.F.L. to Act on Redskins’ Name
keepthefaith replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. The Redskin story is a nice diversion and one that the mostly leftist media will jump on. Anything that steals page space from real issues is a good thing. -

There has been a conspiracy or two. When it was reported a couple years ago that scientists fudged the data to better support their GW view, a conspiracy occurred. When media outlets that typically make supportive reports on man-made GW chose not to report that the science was bunk, another conspiracy occurred. -

Disagree. Respect works both ways. Our President deserved respect upon his election and for a period of time, but IMO he has not been respectful himself to whom he serves and has forfeited that respect. -
You know, there comes a point when the smell of dog **** is indisputable and everyone nearby has to admit, yeah it smells really bad. I'd say we're at the point where supporters of the President have to admit they can smell it, it doesn't smell good and the time to temper the criticism of the opposite party has come because the stench and the evidence of the problem have become obvious.

Veterans Administration Scandal Widespread?

Meanwhile, it's off to Cooperstown to attend the Baseball Hall of Fame ceremony and a couple fund raisers in Chicago. http://www.usatoday.com/story/theoval/2014/05/22/obama-tourism-agenda-baseball-hall-of-fame-cooperstown-new-york/9428895/ -

I know that's one hell of a stretch. Had we elected Romney I think we may have experienced some of that. -

This is just an example of typical government performance. When you don't have to compete with anyone and you can't be fired short of assaulting someone on the job, you end up with a service level that sucks. This is a great example of why we don't want post office, DMV, IRS or VA style healthcare. Government culture all but guarantees crappy service with few exceptions. -

I for one would like to see our beloved government tackle some of the more tangible and immediate issue with well crafted common sense solutions before they try to take control of the weather. -
It wouldn't be a leap at all to accuse Obama of spending like a drunken sailor (more like 2 drunken sailors), holding nobody in his administration accountable for anything and for being an international relations buffoon. We can add to that his dishonest portrayal of nearly everything he speaks about.

Just Who Are the PC Police?
keepthefaith replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Obama and his entire regime have emboldened the overly sensitive to speak out on such trivial matters. Probably best to Blame Bush, though. He damaged the Republican brand so much that we've got to suffer through 8 years of Barry and co. Next President needs to tell everyone to STFU and get to work. -
Why would we applaud turning blue a state which has one of the best business climates and lowest unemployment rates in the country? Don't we need more states like Texas?

Don Esmonde article about new ownership
keepthefaith replied to vegas55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My mistake, I meant Jacksonville and not Cleveland. The Jags sold for under $800 million. We have no idea what Mary Wilson's priorities and preferences are on the sale of the team or how Ralph advised her and others. Let's see how this plays out. -
Don Esmonde article about new ownership
keepthefaith replied to vegas55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think your comments on Ralph are a bit harsh. If Ralph was only concerned about the money he could have sold the team before he passed and very possibly to an owner that would have relocated the team. He signed a lease which due to financial penalty almost assures the Bills staying in Buffalo for a number of years and also makes it much harder for a new owner to relocate the team. To me that was a gift to the community. We also don't know the private thoughts that Ralph expressed to his wife, team management, the league and NYS politicians. It's quite possible there will be more to learn on that as the sale of the team unfolds. As for Esmond, you're right that he doesn't speak to the economics of the team. My hunch is that a new owner committed to keeping the team in Buffalo will not be willing to pay $1 billion. The price may end up being closer to $700 million (a bit below the Cleveland deal) and a new stadium that can produce more revenue will have to be a part of the deal. Ego might drive someone to buy the team but they have to get a return on their investment too and yeah the math for a new owner will be different than it was for Ralph. -
Setting up the Global Warming lies to come

A very relevant question. I haven't. My mind isn't made up on the subject. I simply haven't been convinced yet that climate change is mostly man made because the climate has changed significantly over the past 10,000 years mostly without Man's impact. When people like Obama state that anyone who doesn't agree is wrong, I become even more skeptical. The man doesn't realize how not credible he is apparently. If climate change is significantly man made, then the questions for me become how realistic is it that we can stop or reverse change? At what costs? How much can we realistically impact the rate of change which appears to be ever so slow anyway? How else can we adapt to slightly warmer temps over time? How do we get all on the globe to cooperate? Are we more likely to be wiped out by disease before we all drown in the boiling ocean or frozen by the next ice age? When someone reports "if we melt Greenland and part of Antarctica over the next 100 years we'll add 40 feet to the ocean level which will mean bye-bye to Florida", and they don't report any reason or facts to believe that those areas will melt over the next 100 years, I turn the page. The climate change folks continually hurt their own cause when they get caught manipulating their research and make outrageous claims of impending doom.
