  1. Very possible as most have to spend more these days on energy, food and health insurance. Leaves less for entertainment.
  2. It is very difficult to play the QB position well in the NFL. That's why so few do.
  3. Yes, and lets make sure we send everyone the entire bill, not the watered down version after some of the money needed is borrowed.
  4. Nah, small potatoes. Obama will be more effective if he focuses his efforts on the continued brainwashing of 'merica.
  5. He's not even close to being a leader. There has never been a president in my lifetime who avoided the truth and put politics before country more than this guy. Nobody. He's in a league of his own every time his mouth opens.
  6. We're small and an S-corp so we don't pay the C-corp rates but pay ordinary income rates with one exception. In Illinois we get an extra 1.5% tax since we are a business. It's all part of the "you didn't build that" mindset. Job creators get to pay more than anyone else.
  7. If US corporations used only the tax rate to determine their home base, most would be gone. The US should not seek to be the lowest. It should adjust the rate to where there is the most economic benefit. Tax revenue can be part of the equation. I doubt any qualified analyst could look at US corporate tax policy and conclude that it is optimal for revenue or for economic activity.
  8. I think if you went out in public as the "man on the street" and showed this chart to people walking around, yes many (possibly a majority) would say they believe those numbers.
  9. That's helpful. I'll have to take another look at the map. I will rule out New Zealand for the Palestinians, however, because that's where I plan to go if another country overtakes the U.S. With Obama at the helm, I'm feeling like that has already happened.
  10. Seems like this situation would get a lot easier if the Palestinians (and Hamas) simply moved to Egypt, Jordan and Syria. Clearly they aren't wanted in Israel.
  11. This would all be fine if we didn't have to be concerned with the stupid things people will do under the influence (like drive and kill people), the health risks and the drug addiction that would certainly ensue. Don't give me the alcohol argument. We have enough trouble with that which should tell us we don't need to make another mind bender widely available.
  12. You can order a grilled chicken salad and an unsweetened ice tea (or water) and live to tell about it.
  13. Does affordable mean free or just competitively priced? Who pays?
  14. It appears to me that neither side is ready to talk peace. The fighting will continue until one side has had enough.
  15. How many first ladies have engaged in political fundraising? Can't be many. On the Republican side it might be zero.
  16. Should be very entertaining. Great idea.
  17. Corporations are not people signed, Elizabeth Warren
  18. I use that pointer from time to time and my wife is very happy.
  19. We would have settled for an average recovery. By most measurements, this economic recovery has been the weakest in modern history.
  20. There is truth in that statement. It's more likely that the economy has recovered very slowly in spite of Obama's policies. Nobody's going to accuse him of being a pro-growth private sector guy and that's what we need. We need leadership that will inspire confidence among both consumers and business people. We need policies that will incent businesses to stay in the U.S. and invest here. More employment fixes a lot of problems. The Democrat party can't support these ideas as they've made a career out of bashing corporations, profits and the greedy rich.
  21. Bush followed by Obama should make it very easy for someone to be the next very good President. All kinds of low hanging fruit out there. By no means am I inferring that either Bush or Obama were/are good.
  22. As I've said many times, the party in power always screws up. It's simply the Democrats turn and they are doing a fine job of screwing up. It'll be interesting if we end up with a Republican House, Senate and White House after 2016. This country desperately needs common sense, pragmatic, principled and tough leadership. It's been a while since we had that.
  23. What we're seeing here is simply the ugly transition from Bush's militaristic approach to Obama's kinder gentler approach. It's a little messy but I'm sure the left feels that over time our "nice guy" approach will lead to tranquility.
  24. Obama is simply waiting until after the 2014 election to put the finishing touches on his immigration work and on his other agenda items. Brings new meaning the the phrase "You ain't seen nothin' yet".
