  1. There seems to be evidence that supports a use of force by the officer, but at what point is it excessive? Shoot him in the legs.
  2. 6 shots and a couple in the head is troubling. My hunch is the officer will be found guilty of use of excessive force or something similar.
  3. Hard to believe this had support from Dems in the House, Senate and the White house. Obviously there's more to this bill than the author states in his piece. We agree on that so do you think there should be a birthright guarantee to make equal people who are not?
  4. It simply costs more for lenders to lend money to people who present higher risk or are borrowing smaller amounts. As for gas, some of that difference is the difference in taxation on a gallon of gas from one county or city/town to the next. None of this is to prey on the poor. It's just math.
  5. I stand by my comments. One of the best things we could do as a society to correct the issue of unskilled and unproductive people (regardless of their race) would be to tell people in very strong terms that the government is not going to support them for a lifetime. Put time limits on government benefits and send a message to people what is expected of them in terms of personal responsibility (finish school, work responsibly, don't commit crimes and keep the family unit together). Now, if the government wants to spend some money on training and educating people who are willing to make the effort and be good citizens but need some extra help, I'm all for it. The continuation or the expansion of government aid will never solve the problem because it doesn't change behavior. Conversely it provides an incentive not to change but it does guarantee continued support for politicians that support those programs.
  6. Haven't read the article yet but I don't have much sympathy for people who quit high school and make little or no effort to become productive members of society and then blame "the system" or racism for not being fair to them.
  7. No, we've had a circus for years now. There are no laughs left. It's time to elect a principled leader for President.
  8. Yes to Kyle Orton.
  9. Wait a minute. You just said that people can recover from bad choices and then you say that this kid of 18 years "was not going to be on the path of straightening up". Sorta contradictory wouldn't you say?
  10. No ****. My comment pertains to civil liability and accidents that occur in racing and not criminal acts.
  11. All drivers sign waivers before each race which state that they release everyone involved of any liability. Strongly worded stuff. Yeah lawyers will work around it if they can make a case and this incident will certainly put that agreement to the test if a civil suit is filed. The young man made a horrible decision to exit the car and go onto the track and I think it'll be very tough to prove that Stewart acted with bad intent. You don't unbuckle your belts if your race car is disabled on or near the track without being told to do so by a safety worker unless you are on fire. Every driver should know that. I do think that before this is done with that Stewart will be making some sort of restitution to the family.
  12. We'd be better off if Gore had been elected twice. Had that happened we still would have been attacked on 9-11, We wouldn't have gone into Iraq, the economy still would have melted down and Americans would have elected a Republican twice instead or B.O. and we'd be on a much better path as a country right now.
  13. Once all the noise of race and a petty robbery are eliminated, my hunch is that the police officer will be arrested. Certainly the officer can use force if attacked but multiple shots and deadly shots may be hard to defend as reasonable force.
  14. My thoughts exactly but don't worry, we're safe. The Maxim studio is on the 2nd floor. Hillary would never make it up the stairs.
  15. Unfortunately the skills required to get elected and the skills required to govern well are not at all the same.
  16. That will really suck and it looks like ISIS has already carved out enough land to make some sort of claim to it. You know we can point the finger at Bush here. If Sadaam was still in power, no way that ISIS would be attacking Iraq. Sadaam would have probably invited ISIS over for cigars and cocktails and they'd leave after a good time. Obama's easy for everyone to understand. He doesn't do what he says and he does what he doesn't say.
  17. Same can be said about debt, SS, Medicare, jobs and possibly immigration depending on what he does or doesn't do on that.
  18. If Walmart (and many other businesses) is forced to pay $15/hour, lots of people lose their Walmart jobs. They'll simply replace people with a better caliber of employee who can do the job of more than 1 current person or introduce more technology into their business which will reduce their needed headcount. Walmart will work hard to reduce their labor costs. The greater problem is the weak demand for labor and the lack of any recent policy change that might actually be pro-growth.
  19. Obama doesn't lack a strategy at all (in his mind). Only the impending political disaster of the world witnessing the death of 10's of thousands of Christians has moved him to respond.
  20. I hear JP Losman has stayed in shape.
  21. How could they list France as a threat without including domestic right-wing extremists on the list?
  22. What the article should say is that a weak economy and weak demand for labor hurts lower income people the most.
  23. I think this is a very insightful thread that RTL has started here. The Bills have a young undeveloped QB and questionable backups. They need to play a high percentage offense. Run the ball and make high percentage throws. Master these things first. The Bills don't yet have a QB on their roster that can beat a team the way the great ones do. Run the damn ball!
  24. Nothing wrong with spanking a kid to the extent that the pain lasts only a few minutes. Frankly, many adults deserve a spanking.
