Setting up the Global Warming lies to come
keepthefaith replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I consider myself a conservative and I'm not wedded to my own climate change beliefs. The Climate Change industry simply hasn't come anywhere close to convincing me that climate change is a problem that we as humans can positively impact. My beliefs are that much greater natural forces are the key drivers to any slight climate variations that we are seeing. In other words, if we were to all stop burning things and we executed all the cattle on the globe, scientists would still measure climate variations over time and argue about it. Now if the Federal Government wants to slowly move regulations in the direction of cleaner air and water in a way that doesn't cause economic harm or increase taxes and at the same time lessens our dependency on unfriendly foreign sources of energy, I'm on board. -

Doesn't even begin to answer the question and suggests we will all freeze to death during the next ice age. That is of course if we don't burn up before then. -
Ideology Over Results, A Liberal Tradition
keepthefaith replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You can't teach people who don't want to do what's necessary to learn no matter how much money is spent. Of course Educators can't say this in public because that could prevent increases to education spending. -
Setting up the Global Warming lies to come
keepthefaith replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm still waiting for the explanation as to how we got out of the ice age without burning fossil fuels and how that process then stopped and the burning of fossil fuels took over as the driver of higher global temps. -
We have very adequate laws on this matter. They just aren't enforced and haven't been for many years. Not many feel we can round them up and kick them out, but to continue to ignore border security and to have no regard for the costs of so much illegal immigration is irresponsible at best. Bush should have made border security a high priority after 9/11. There are many non-Latinos coming into our country across the southern border. Many with very bad intentions. Obama very blatantly goes out of his way not to enforce immigration laws or to secure the border. Like so many federal agencies, he uses border and immigration enforcement as an instrument to further his political agenda. He doesn't address or support American interests on the matter.

We should have a well defined immigration plan that identifies what kind of people we want to allow into the country (skill, background, education and employable level) and more importantly how many based on the economic conditions (employment and cost to taxpayers). There is a plan in existence, but it's not followed at all and to continue to allow whatever and whomever to come over the border is risky and just plain stupid. Very close friend of mine produced the movies "They Come To America" (I and II) and watching those will open your eyes.

Batavia possible stadium site?
keepthefaith replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes and if not there I doubt the stadium ends up outside of Erie County. The county will fight like hell to keep it there. -

They've found a hole in the sun. If that reduces the sun's output over time, we made need more of a greenhouse effect as a hedge. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2626408/Theres-hole-Sun-Nasa-reveals-video-showing-mysterious-square-hole-appearing-solar-surface.html -
The liberal green view fails to take into account the full view of: Forcasted future demand for electricity The capacity needed to meet that demand The cost to implement enough renewable production The cost to consumers and businesses if we were to migrate heavily toward renewable production now Faced with the facts, most people will conclude that the migration to renewable energy will be very slow until technology improves dramatically. At the same time, traditional methods of generating power are getting cleaner and more efficient so the goal post for renewable is also moving.

Kiper gives Bills low marks in draft
keepthefaith replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody can grade a draft for at least a couple seasons after it happens. -
Where will their cheaper energy come from? Wind and solar require huge capital and land area investments and the electricity they produce is 3-4 times as expensive as the traditional methods. Modern coal/natural gas/waste burning plants are very efficient and emit much lower emissions than older plants. We'll never meet the growing and future needs for energy with renewables. If as consumers we want plentiful affordable energy and lower emissions, it's going to come more from nuclear, modern fossil fuel plants or some newly developed technology than it will from wind and solar. The math simply doesn't favor wind and solar methods. Nuclear is the lowest cost per KW, requires a huge investment but also generates the best economic return. The return is in the form of more high paying jobs and the recreation activity on and near cooling lakes.

WR Stevie Johnson traded to San Francisco 49ers

Mike Williams might not even make the team depending upon how he behaves over the next 4 months. -
I don't think that's fair. Mr. Gator is plenty intelligent. He's simply very misguided, a product of his environment and continues to immerse himself in bad information. GIGO. I agree that's the veil, but underneath I think they don't want to actually take the field in a game they know they can't win.

My take on the Dems wanting to boycott the committee is that they're abandoning Obama. They don't want to touch this thing as they can plainly see that the facts as they are uncovered are not on falling their way.

Rankings/Ratings from the Experts
keepthefaith replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now is a good time to evaluate the 2011 and 2012 drafts. -
Would you be happy to have cleaner air and lower rates if we built more nuclear plants?

One week is not a trend and 319K still sucks.

Not bad, and let's just see who wins - OK?
