  1. Gosh I hate the offseason doldrums.
  2. Nope. Since you are responsible for the performance of the people you hire, there's no benefit to hiring someone just because they are a relative or acquaintance. I was speaking professionally, and people I know would be good at their job. Beane does the same thing.
  3. I don't understand the complaining about beane and the Panthers/Wash connections when it comes to players. I don't know how many of you hire people as part of your job, but I do. I gladly go with someone I know, or comes with a recommendation from someone else I trust over someone off the street I don't know much about other than their resume. It's a damn no-brainer. It's the sign of a good and responsible leader.
  4. but we established you don't need to touch it. He's starting off on the wrong foot. There's nothing like soup. Or chili. Or stew. WNY in winter requires soup. I'm pretty good at making it, too, especially considering I'm a dork.
  5. I'd do that. I have three addictions. Bills, Golf, Guitar. A weekend with at least two of those would be fantastic. Find me a drummer, bass player, and singer that can play Rush, Triumph (for you SDS!), and some fun punk rock and the weekend would be complete!
  6. Wow - forgot about that guy. And I'll be happy to forget about him again.
  7. Addiction is nasty. I know quite a few people who have battled it and are doing well, some people who try but are not, and one who is no longer here. It pains me to see people make nasty comments about 1) A Buffalo Bill, and 2) Someone who is trying to make themselves better. It makes me sad when people insinuate that people who have addiction issues are bad people. Ever know someone who smokes, has tried to quit but can't, or has quit successfully? Then you know an addict. Hope you don't think less of any of them. And no, this doesn't mean I'm not concerned about the domestic violence stuff. People are multi-faceted, and opinions can be, too.
  8. Rogers is such a d-bag. Can't wait until the Bills beat the crap out of the jets next year when he's their QB.
  9. LOL! I haven't thought of "belinda-ing" a post in a long time! Almost forgot, nice job, Simon!
  10. Belicheck respects the hell out of McDermott. That's all you need to read into it.
  11. Nope, I can't spin a 5 iron. Unless you count sidespin, then I can spin the hell out of it. 🙂 I did get new Srixon ZX5s this offseason and they can hold greens wonderfully. Love them. My previous irons were only three months old, but the lofts were far too jacked and the face was so hot that sometimes you'd get a flyer that went an extra 20 yards. Mizuno JPX923 HotMetal Pro. Yuck. Even had the lofts weakened a degree, and that helped a small bit but I hated them.
  12. Top Flite's tagline should have been "The Most Abandoned Ball In Golf!" Every time you find a ball, chances are it is a Top Flite. Made of granite with a slate outer core and ceramic outer layer.
  13. I expect you are right. The problem is if you like to play in tournaments that require a legitimate handicap, you need to use the USGA sanctioned ball. They's how they get you by the, ahem, spherical objects. I like to play in tournaments, and they all abide by USGA rules. But I would support a separate golf association that governs amateurs instead of professionals. Or something like that. Making a rule that punishes amateurs is stupid. Let's say you lose 10 yards a club. That just doesn't impact the driver, it impacts the other clubs, too. So not only do you have a longer shot because your drive doesn't go as long, your next shot will not go as far because of that rule, too. So instead of a 7, you're hitting a 5. Huge difference. Stupid rule that is aimed at fixing the problem with professionals and the courses they play, where 99% of the golfers and 90% of the courses don't have that problem. Dumb.
  14. Yeah, it is a stupid game, and I'm addicted. But this is an awesome description. Some foul language, because it is Robin Williams:
