  1. I just heard where they called him "Trump's attorney," too.
  2. AOC's already calling for May's "like...impeachment, totally."
  3. That's rather a misstatement of things. The President isn't "granted" an automatic clearance; the office itself conveys de facto and de jure right to access to the country's secrets to the person elected to hold the office. The difference is pedantic, but important: your phrasing implies that someone adjudicates the President for suitability for a clearance, which would be a Very Bad Thing. But you don't. You, as a private individual, do not have a right to another person's private information, of which income tax filings are. And that is the law. Still a conflict of interest if you keep it in the family. Jack didn't make Bobby his trustee.
  4. Stupid Trump meme aside... Beto wants to address abortion via executive power and judicial activism, but not legislative action. And Trump's abusing power? I ***** hate Democrats.
  5. This thread as good a place as any. NYS makes double jeopardy legal for people associated with Trump.
  6. You mean, "Don't obfuscate with facts and details?" @Tiberius
  7. The triumph of optimism over basic human psychology. A large part of the country has been literally brainwashed, in the most fundamental sense of having a set of axioms, beliefs, and a group association incorporated in to their very identity. You don't overcome that by slow-rolling indictments in the hopes they'll come around. In large groups...well, it generally takes a war to shake that sort of programming.
  8. Once again, the Left has somehow cast a Republican president as simultaneously being a conspiratorial genius and a bumbling oaf.
  9. I disagree. It should be hard for administrations to implement their agenda, because they should have to go through Congress. Anything that reduces regulatory power of the executive and the power of the true deep state (the federal bureaucracy - not the conspiratorial "Deep State" of the other thread), and requires legislation to issue from Congress as it should, is not a bad thing. Elections have consequences, but legislative elections should have legislative consequences, not executive elections.
  10. 30+ years and counting. Look at the byline. That has selection bias written all over it. They guy specializes in abortions performed specifically for the health of the mother.
  11. That wasn't the Gestapo, that was the RMVP. Goebbels, not Himmler.
  12. They still have a belief that the rule of law will go their way (i.e. that they'll get the impeachment they want.) . It's ingrained in their self-identity at this point; the moment that's attacked is the moment people become dangerous. (I also have this really odd thing where I can't click the "Quote" link on your posts. I have to multi-quote to quote them. Whatever your board issue is with posting, it's weird.) Or they're seeking asylum from political persecution, because Trump's going after his enemies and using the DoJ as his own Gestapo. Think like someone who, again, has made the #Resistance an integrated part of your self-identity. Would you believe you were wrong? Would you accept contrary evidence as contrary, or find a way to use it to justify your self-image?
  13. If they don't get them all on day one, at leadt two would flee the country, I expect. Regardless, there's a significant number of people who would view it as Trump persecuting political enemies, and consider it a casus belli.
  14. It bears pointing out, @Tiberius, that there's bipartisan support for you taking a flying ***** through a rolling donut. But you're still here.
  15. Trump: A case with four investigations in it! Not one or two or three, but four! Four investigations! What the hell am I supposed to do with an empty case? Barr: We are attorneys, not merchants. Trump: But you can still count. Look it's easy. Look at my fingers, four investigations, four indictments, zero investigations, zero indictments! (You were intentionally quoting The Fifth Element, right?)
  16. Five investigations shalt thou not count, neither count thou three investigations, excepting that thou then proceed to four investigations. Six is right out! Once the investigations number four, being the fourth investigation, be reached, then lobbest thou thy indictments towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.
  17. And Praying Mantis. And Nimble Archer. And Iran Air 665. And a quarter-century trade embargo. And 15 years of routine violations of their airspace and territorial limits.
  18. Unprovoked? Seriously?
  19. It actually makes sense. Women I know who've put up their kids for adoption have lived through their lives with the "What if?" and "Did I do the right thing?" and "Is he better off?" and "If I'd kept her, by now she'd be..." questions. Abortion is much more final. Adoption, women carry the knowledge there's a living person out there that they brought into the world, but are not part of their lives, and have to live with being a "mother without motherhood." From all I've seen, it's more difficult to deal with, long-term.
