This is how epically bad we are.
apuszczalowski replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone makes it out to send like the Bills are the only ones to do this. Like they are the only ones hiring coaches with different schemes. How many coaches are available each year that run similar schemes to what you run? How many coaches run the same defence and offence as others? Bad teams change coaches and schemes, not all players fit these schemes, even the best ones. Most teams will try to hire coaches who's schemes fit what they have to maximise talent, some want the best coaches and will try to fit the talent. Until you hit on coaching and talent, there's going to be alot of turnover you could argue that the GM could have seen issues with Carlos because of past issues with him. It's not like they don't look into off field stuff in these guys before they are drafted. As for Darby, is it really a new system? Was he not here when Schwartz was or did he get drafted in Rexs first year? -
Bills signing QB Keith Wenning
apuszczalowski replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it all depends on what their intent is for the player. Right now they have their #1 in TT and don't feel anyone else available would be a better option. Also TT and Yates may not be out long so they just need the extra arm to get them through the next PS game, so the most logical choice is to sign a guy familiar with the offence instead of someone who will need time to learn it when more then likely they are cut following the end of the game. -
Its possible he may have stayed on with the right HC, but he wasn't going to stay for just anyone, and especially with a guy like Rex who wants to run things his way. The only reason he is DC in Philly is because no one hired him as HC, he wanted the job here but they passed and went with Rex. He took the year off and then went to Philly with the hopes that another good defence being their DC would help get him another shot as a HC.
-
Why not bring him in? If Tyrod sucks as bad as everyone here thinks and they are tanking the season like everyone here thinks, if he isn't going to cost them any more then money, bring him in if cut and see if a change of scenery might help him. He was an early pick for a reason. It doesn't stop them from drafting anyone next year if he sucks.
-
Then why the heck did he sign here in the first place? Is he (and his agent) really that stupid and unaware of who is the QB in Buffalo just a couple weeks ago when he signed the deal to come here? Tanking worked so well for Pegulas other team..............
-
Well according to Boldin, he is retiring to spend time fighting for human rights, so he is going to go spend time with kaepernick............

It depends on if you can look at 7-8, 8-8, or 9-8 and find good things in those years ( I personally don't see that as being bad, and some of those teams had looked good, just not good enough to make the playoffs) Depending on how this season plays out its impossible to know. You have no idea right now where they draft, who needs a QB next year, and where those teams end up. Like I said, they could go after someone like Cousins, or trade for someone using those picks. Just because they accumulated picks, doesn't mean that those picks will all get used to move up and take someone. No one knows which QBs will be coming out and how they look and grade out yet.
-
I don't believe, like everyone else, that they are stock piling picks to use them to get a QB. I truly believe they intend to spend next years draft moving around to pick up multiple talented players, probably a WR, some linemen, and whatever the best QB they can get without giving up everything for them. Chances are they assess where they end up and whos ahead of them, then either attempt to move up a little bit with an extra pick or 2, or possibly use some of the picks to trade for someone. They know they have other areas to address and I think thats the plan, to upgrade a few spots in the next draft after assessing this years talent after a season of running their schemes
-
Dind't those great Rex Ryan offences also struggle in the preseason too? I can't remember a time when the Bills have actually looked good during the preseason?
-
I don't see an issue with him getting 1st team reps now, he is a veteran lineman and should get teh chance to get those reps now, especially with others missing time and having to fill other spots. If he doesn't start losing that position because of his play soon, or is given a roster spot over someone better, then theres an issue.....
-
With Matthews coming back, I don't think WR would be something that needs a huge upgrade, not compared to the oline. You don't need elite WRs to win, Sammy did nothing in his years here to make this team any better in the standings. With the guys they have, they just need to make catches/plays to get defences have to pay attention. If the WRs can't get open, the Qb can't make the throws when they are open, or they drop the ball defences can stack up and force them to have to throw. This is what happens with NE, Brady makes the throws and the WRs catch the ball and move the chains, they don't just air it out. They will beat you by hitting short and intermediate passes that move the ball forward.
-
The problem that we have seen so far hasn't been because they don't have Watkins anymore, I doubt the results of these games would have changed with him in their. The QB and the OLine play was bad tonight. Penalties killed alot of the plays tonight too. It almost seemed like the Refs were practicing themselves calling certain plays, like the said before the game we have to practice calling 'holding', or 'block in the back' so if they see something somewhat kinda close to it, call it so we can practice throwing the flag and calling it to the crowd. Penalties are also always bad in the preseason because you get alot of fringe players trying to do what they can to look better and make a team so they do things that they hope they can get away with to gain an advantage, or are trying desperately to stop someone or do something but get beat. The hope is, which didn't happen tonight, that the majority of the calls are on the fronge guys and not the established starters who should know better.

Trade Tyrod Taylor this week
apuszczalowski replied to sb_bound's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, If I am to understand this correctly, the fans here are soooooo smart that they know that taylor won't amount to anything and sucks so bad that they need to trade him now, AND NFL GMs are going to be willing to make a trade for him AND give up a 2nd round pick? If Taylor is so bad that the Bills would be willing to get rid of him and play out the season with a 5th round rookie QB and TJ Yates, what would make anyone believe that an NFL GM would be willing to offer anything of any value to the Bills in order to get him? -
Well, if there is one good this g about those numbers it's that they cost the Ryan Brothers their jobs and a new coaching staff could be enough to change some of those things. It also shows that losing some of the players everyone's complaining about shouldn't make them any worse then last year since most of the numbers they put up can be replaced easily. The only complai t about losing them is that some of them had high hopes/potential to be much better, although they had yet to really show they would actually reach it
-
That's the issue here, the NFLPA leaking the stuff to the media to get the fans (who already have hatred for Goodell) on their side and so the fans put pressure on the league (and it's sponsors) to view the accuser as someone who is lying and untrustworthy and have the decision overturned for Elliot who will now be the victim. What should have been done is that they stay silent about it to the media (aside from just saying they will review and fight the ruling) and only bring it up during the hearing. Bit now they have the 'court of public opinion' on their side to help pressure the league into dropping it
-
Where the problem lies is in the definition of the GMs role with a team Is the GMs role to go out and get the players that the HC needs/wants to fit his system for the team OR of his role to get the best possible players and have a coach who can work and adapt to the players they have? I think the GM role has been changing over the last few years where the coaches are being given more control on players and the GM role is becoming more of the gopher to get them what they want where as before I think the GM used to pick the direction of the team and pick the players with the coaches role to coach the guys they had and make it work. I don't think Whaley was a complete flop, bit I also don't think he was anything special. Seemed to me that he didn't mesh with the coaches and there was always a battle over who was in charge.

Saw somewhere its been 4 years since he has thrown a ball in a game? But CK isn't blacklisted by the league..............
-
They didn't have an 'Elite' WR, they had an often injured one with the Potential/Hype that one day he could be an Elite One When Healthy. And with how often Watkins is always fighting an injury, theres no guarantee he will "have 10 years left in his career". And good for you that no one can convince you it was a good move, there are still people here who can't be convinced that the earth isn't flat, or that man has walked on the moon either May I suggest joining some of the other and rooting for Sammy and his Rams instead? I hear they could use help filling the new LA Stadium soon.....

First off, the problem isn't that they keep blowing the team up every couple of years, the problem has been hiring the wrong people. There was noting wrong with firing The Ryans after 2 seasons, it was actaully 2 years too long for them (since they shouldn't have been hired in the first place). They actually looked like they had a decent thing going with Marrones team, but he left on his own instead of seeing things through. The problem is that when they need a new coach, they should be looking for quality guys that will work more with what they have and not want to change everything (except for changing everything Rex did). Rex was a huge mistake and that mistake by the front office set them back a few years. It would have been much worse for the team to give him more time just because "coaches/GMs should have more time to build their team" then realizing they made a mistake and moving on ASAP. The new guys should be given as much time as they need until they show they either can't do the job competently (like Rex), or they team just does not appear to be moving in the right direction. If the team appears to be getting better on the field (and results are getting better) then they continue Theres always going to be some changes and some guys that may not fit a scheme whenever a coach/co-ordinator is changed, and that is more likely the issue with Darby. More then likely, they felt he wasn't a great fit for their scheme, may not have been happy that it didn't fit his style of play, AND they had to give up something of value to get Matthews from the Eagles in order to get another good WR. The deal for Watkins is most likely done because they feel from discussions with him that he is going to cost to much to re-sign, may have indicated he wants to test the market, AND they feel he was injured far to much for them to want to invest what he wanted into a WR with his past. He has spent more time injured, or playing at less than 100% (trying to play through injuries) then he has played "healthy".The decision to move him was probably based on getting a good offer from a team for a guy they didn't see being around much longer here. They also may feel that they don't need a WR like him because (as many hwill always point out) they have a QB whos strength isn't his arm/QB play so their offence can work best with a possession guy like Matthews and Boldin. These moves aren't the end of the world, they didn't lose some HOF locks that have been doing much of anything on the field that makes them irreplaceable or the key to getting into the playoffs (except having the hype/potential to be great). This team has missed the playoffs with a healthy, a playing hurt, and an on the bench injured Watkins, he wasn't the guy that was holding them back from the playoffs, but he also wasn't the guy who was putting them on his shoulders to get their either. I think we need to see the way the season and offence/defence plays out with these changes during the season before we all start writing them off as being doomed and tanking. McCoy may not be happy to see Watkins go, but Wentz appears to be just as mad to see the Eagles move Matthews. but hey, its always fun to overreact and whine and moan about how the new guys in charge need to go and blame the years they weren't even here on them, or that it has anything to do with them.

Feel Like We Are Going Back To Dark Days
apuszczalowski replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What have the Rams done to show that they are a competent franchise and that taking the 2 Bills WRs is the answer to getting better at the position? And so far the only move that has paid off for another team was the Pats getting Hogan (who the fans here couldn't get rid of fast enough because of how bad they thought he sucked) who like everyone, looked good catching passes from Brady. No one knows if Gilmore will be an improvement on defence for the Pats, and is Gillislee will be a huge improvement as a RB on their offence Hows leodis doing? Hows Kiko doing? Hows Mario Williams doing? Hows Williams (the RB) doing?
