Anybody live near a railroad track?
apuszczalowski replied to RochesterRob's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Grew up with tracks behind the next street over, no crossing nearby so no horns usually, but you got used to the rumble and the sound of the train going by. Similar to now, bought a house that the rear yard backs into industrial property. Theres a large factory less than a mile away. Thought it was one of the ones closed down and not open any more. First morning woke up to hear soft banging and rattling in the house. The factory is still open and the hammers in the forge work during the day. You dont notice it much anymore. Believe this is the reason the house was built with concrete block exterior walls. I know some new subdivisions being built near railway tracks, the municipalities have it written in the subdivision agreements that the houses have certain conditions on their construction. They typically have a hill up to the tracks and a sound wall at the top. The rear of the house also requires special construction to make things quieter, and they all are required to have central a/c so windows dont have to be open to cool the house down. -

I see builders do this all the time in residential construction. Maybe 24 hours at the most after pouring a footing or foundation wall it's getting stripped of the forms and then a few days later they are ready to backfill it. Most dont care if it cracks later, they just have some one come in and patch any cracks afterwards and hope the future home owner doesn't find any leaks til their warranty is up. Today it's all about speed/timing in building. You can always take a chance and go back to fix something later on..... -
Roseanne Show cancelled by ABC after racist tweet

The only hypocracy is that their hero in charge said it too along with others and no one fired them from their jobs. I do think she has some issues, whether they are real or an act I can't say, but she keeps bouncing back and forth from taking the blame to blaming something else to attacking others to feeling remorse. She's all over the place. Seems hypocritical that kneeling during the anthem is unamerican and against the military, but butchering the song and grabbing your crotch is fine now -

Charlie Sheen is actually pushing for a 2 and a half men reboot....... CBS and the show's producer should mess with him and see they are on board, to reboot it again with Ashton Kutcher.... As for the publicity thing, this is BAD publicity causing sponsors to pull out, cast members to speak out against her and quit. The problem in this situation is that the comments were racist, unprovoked, and another comment in a long line of comments she has made in the past. They have her a chance and she crossed the line again. Then she continues to come unhinged (almost wondering if it's an act to try and have people believe she is mentally ill) by apologising and leaving Twitter only to return later that day and blame ambien, then take shots at cast for not standing with her, then acting remorseful, then saying she tried to have them not cancel the show but ABC wouldn't, etc. Jimmy Kimmel, someone who angered Roseanne during an interview a few months ago for questioning her Trump support because of her past has even come to her defence saying that people need to show her compassion. It is funny to see the trump supporters now screaming about Samantha Bee (a Canadian IIRC) using the 'C' word referring to Ivanka and demanding her show be canceled too, yet their Hero in charge has used that term many times in reference to woman, and many of their fellow supporters have used that term before referring to others. A woman using that word referring to another woman is the same as making a racist remark about someone else? Theres slot of apples an orange comparisons from the 2 sides trying to defend their people. Comments or remarks based of race or sex are usually looked at much worse then insults made based off of actions or comments made by someone. -
Daboll: Blocking Scheme, Approach to the Game
apuszczalowski replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pat's do it cause they can, because teams have to game plan for them. You can plan or tweak your schemes occasionally if you know the team your playing has weaknesses in areas, but an offence should be dictating the play, not being reactive to the defences. -
Are we expecting a spending spree next year?
apuszczalowski replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's not really comparable, they are given x amount per year to spend, they cant save and bank cap space every year. They can be fiscally responsible and not backload deals or give huge long term ones, but they arent really getting into debt by using the available space. As for will they use it and make some signings, guess that depends on who is available from the Panthers next offseason..... -
Daboll: Blocking Scheme, Approach to the Game
apuszczalowski replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wouldn't it be nice to have a team or unit that other teams have to scheme against rather then the Bills having to scheme against what they do all the time? By saying they will be flexible and scheme week to week according to the opponent is almost saying they are just going to go out and try not to lose and let them dictate how the game is played -

I still see from time to time new houses where they are putting in carpet, usually its hardwood in the living areas, tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, and if they use carpet, its only in the bedrooms (sometimes stairs). I have even seen a few basements with carpets. -

Why? She already knew they were together No I didnt, it was there the entire time -
I have a 20 volt black and decker battery trimmer, a battery filler and a battery chain saw. All work great but I bought the larger 4.0 ah batteries to use with them. Use the smaller ones for my drill and driver. The larger battery allows me to do the entire lawn on a single charge using the higher power setting and still have power left

Not really, remember Michael Richard's? Today everyone's got cameras with their phones to record it and share it with everyone on the internet..... I dont think anyone (even her) is saying that Ambien made her racist. Ambien just made her say what's really on her mind instead of keeping it to herself in her head. Just like alcohol doesn't make you a jerk and say/do dumb things, it let's the dumb inner you out to say and do those dumb things -

Have you seen some of the conversations and comments here? Its contributing to the downfall of humanity..... While that is a good rule to have, anything you say can look bad on you with your employer even if it wasn't work related. It's best to either not say anything controversial online or dont say anything at all. If you say something political or controversial and even if it has nothing to do with your employment, it can still look bad on you if they see it. Would you hire someone or continue to employ someone who posts online that they believe the Bill's should have signed Johnny Football or drafted a kicker on day 1 or 2 of the draft???? -

A lot of them do, but sometimes they just think they have to say something that they should have thought long and hard about first. I do have to give her credit, I dont like her or her political views, but at least she came out and didnt deny it saying she was hacked, she came out and took the blame for saying something dumb and said "dont feel sorry or bad, I'm an idiot" -

The internet could be what ends up destroying humanity It needs to go back to what it was I tended for. Buying thing without having to get dressed and leave your home, watching home videos of people or animals falling down and or getting hurt, getting scammed by African Royalty, Netflix, and easily accessible pornography. Everything else is just leading to the world becoming a worse place. -

Carpet over the hardwood, cause you didnt want to ruin the hardwood or thought it would be a selling feature in the future, lol. Like putting plastic over your furniture to protect it. -

I think the problem today is that we are building in areas that not to long ago were not considered buildable. But because everyone needs to make money and it's getting tougher to find buildable land, you now find subdivisions being built in what used to be swap land and or garbage land that's being opened up to developers. What was once a natural drainage course is being filled in or changed to make areas developable, then people wonder why their area floods or is always wet. -
It's their punishment for telling everyone it was actually going to be a sunny day with a 10% chance of light showers......

With a dog that size, probably concrete, but even that's probably not going to withstand the abuse, lol -
I dont see what's wrong with having to show proof of anything if they are giving you a discount (veteran, native status, etc.). To many D-bags out there that will try and fraud the system faking it if they didnt ask for proof. As for home depot, I know someone who is supposed to be banned from there because he want off on one of the Experts for giving someone wrong advise Home depot/Lowes/other box hardware stores are great if you know what you need to do a project around the house. But if you have to go in there and ask someone for advise on what to get or how to do something, turn around and find a professional to do it for you cause you shouldn't be in that store. Their experts are to building as Subway employees are to art..... You also have to be careful what you buy there. Around here they will sell almost anything, and some of it will not meet building codes for use in the area, so if you have a permit for the work it may bite you during an inspection. I have seen it many times where a building inspection has failed and the excuse was that "this is what the guy at Home Depot said I needed to use or would work"
