that's just insane and ignorant. you realize every single coach, front office, and gm in the nfl constantly says that they totally disagree with you based on the draft picks they use and the money they spend on contracts, right? small changes in center ability might result is slightly worse execution of things like shotgun snaps, or the odd wrong line call. slight changed in corner back ability can result in 6 points from anywhere on the field. it's just not close, everyone with a log in id to this board should know this.

jesus bill, you think a center is worth as much as the best corner in the nfl? the contract might be too big, but you fundamentally don't understand how important the defensive secondary is in the nfl. the final four teams in the nfl last year all dumped big money and draft picks into their secondary and only one had a highly drafted and paid o line. gandy, who you and others insisted would ruin our entire o, was the starting lt for the best team in the nfl. stop the chubby chasing and secondary hate.
-
gandy had a hard job and kinda sucked, but both pitt and zona have way under top level LTs and managed to get to the bowl. in fact, if edge had one less bad drive, or if the secondary (of course bill in nyc will insist without a HOF lt you can't win, and that the secondary does nothing) played a bit better on the last drive for zona they would have walked away a winner. the chubby chasing has gotten just too crazy here.

How in the world is Pitt favored by so much?
colin replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think a lot of this game will come down to pittz not being able to protect big ben, and pittz having no way of covering the zona wrs. for all the chubby chasing on this board fluffing peters while lets yet another sacker by, playmaker are the ones who score. -
i'd like that if there is a guy we want there, but i think that is worth more than just 1 2nd

Why is Pat White being spammed on us? Is it just a dopey...
colin replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ill take him. big play slash role -
nah, i think he could play in most any system.
-
i think the peters fans just assume that if we pay him he will play as hard as he can every play and not get hurt. it didn't work that way with sf and jonas jennings, and i don't think it will work that way w us and peters. i say we get that lt out of carolina for about what peters would want, and ship him off for some picks. tag and trade greer to clevland for winslow, and we will either be able to drop some cash on a DE, or just get one in the draft (along w a sick playmaker in the front 7, dt or lb) and draft a kick ass c as well.
-
he looked pretty effing good in the coverage of the bowl practices i've seen. monster against the run and rushing the passer. i bet he could drop 10 15 pounds and be decent in coverage too. agree w the polimaulu comparison -- dude goes full speed all the time and imo has big plays in him. him, poz, and crow, w mitchell competing (maybe beating out poz?) would really be a sick lb core. throw in a new DE in FA and we'll be top 5 or 10 on d with some turnovers and such.
-
I hope they don't use a first round pick on a tight end
colin replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
some people think he is too slow or whatevs, but that lb from usc mauluga is sick, i'd be happy w him. -
i think he's close but not there. if he wins the sb, and has 2 more 4k+ years, he is in.

the way willis had his arms all twisted up makes me think he might be really badly hurt

willis got blasted!!

you really shouldn't have posted this. don't you know the drums that are currently being banged here? 34 is better than 43 in all cases. we have no DEs and every DE in the nfl besides ours gets pressure every play, and it doesn't matter who you have at WR or in the secondary, all that matters is the line! 34 and a good coach will win every single game 100% of the time. and jp just needs one more chance!! it's the system!
-
Who's record is 45-53 over last 6 years?
colin replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the bucs were 9-3 and manged to lose out and not make the playoffs, including dropping the last game of the season against the raiders!! i'm not huge on dicky, but it's not like you can just stick another coach in and know he will instantly be better. -
Kawika Mitchell - Good FA pick up or not?
colin replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if we add back crow and another play maker or two to the front 7 (maybe forcing poz to compete and possibly sit) then mitch might be an even better player for us. he was very good at times, but not great too much of the time. as a unit our dline isn't good at pass rushing, is good against the run, and our lb's kinda stink -
i dunno, i think greggggg is still a good dc. wade will be a good dc if they fire him too.
-
he held out and refused to even talk to the team, he was under a contract he agreed to, not franchised or anything, and had one good year. now he has one good year and one pretty good year (although he got to the pro bowl). our o still sucks and we need playmakers desperately. i want a good line as bad as anyone, but i know enough to know that some good linemen alone won't make an O work, we need guys scoring touchdowns. if trading peters gets us some of those, i'd do it.
-
you are assuming we can just pay him and he will be good for us. if it is true that he is going to continue to be a holdout risk, a malcontent, and injured and out of shape, then we really don't want him on our team. also, i think the point of this whole thread is that super star o linemen aren't the key -- super star players on D and scoring touchdowns is the key, along with a good line on o. it would be nice to have a bunch of probowlers on the o line, but that didn't help the cowboys last season, nor did it make the star studded new england line good enough to stop the giants pass rush, and the giants zero pro bowler line last year didn't look too bad. better athletes play on the d line than o, it has always been that way. a super star on the d line can cause disruption helping the other guys and get to the ball carrier by himself. a great o lineman can possibly neutralize a great d lineman, but all 5 have to do their jobs for the line to be a success. we need a good line of 5 guys, not any particular super stud, especially one who wants to hold out and hurt himself and the team.

jesus dood, you are such an self important amateur. you will be kind here? are you a highly accomplished nfl gm? no, you are a guy with a keyboard just like me. instead of coming up with a million smoke screens pretending to be so knowledgeable about the unknown, just point out the salient point of disagreement: you think peters is a great important player for our team and should be paid top 3 o lineman money in spite of his holding out, injuries, and public statements. i think he is a very talented lineman that at times is great, but at other times is far from great, is clearly a malcontent, and simply is not worth that large of a contract. so if he is gonna hold out and get hurt and not be consistent in protecting the passer, i think we don't want to pay him that kind of scratch. so what do we do with him? well, we trade him to get something for him, it's that simple. you talk about creating a need, but if he holds out again, he is creating the need. you can't count on a guy because the chubby chasers on the board have decided to crown him the king of the fat asses. if he holds out again he is making it very very clear he is not a team guy. eff him.
-
you are making this much harder than it needs to be. we need our o line to play well. we don't need peters for that. he helps with that, but if we have any other serviceable guy at lt and a better c/rg we can be a better or at least equal line. with the picks we get for jp and the extra money we can sign very good players at de, wr, te, and lb. along with our draft that will make us a much better team. peters IS a malcontent, he held out for christ's sake, what more does he have to do? i'd like to have him and other upgrades, but like most any player he is totally replaceable and his injuries and attitude and hold out demands more than offset his play, which i don't feel is anywhere near crucial for us to win.
