Round 6, Pick 183: CARY HARRIS, CB, USC
colin replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan 2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you misunderstood the post. he is saying that they could (as in may) not beat out the rookies this year. they are marginal guys compared to the rest. ko and wilson are two guys we don't want starting, and while i like scott as a tough guy, he just isn't great in deep cover situations (which happen 40%+ in the nfl!!). byrd at FS and donte at SS, along w mcgee and leodis gives us a bunch of tacklers and guys who can pick a ball and bring it back. also we need to be in nickle and dime every single game. that brings in corner and youboty. and at least 1 or 2 of our picks today are for april to keep fresh legs on special teams. -
McShay just gave us the best draft
colin replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and that's what we are going for too. but i disagree with your point of huge. the only position on D where the giants are bigger than us is OLB. schobel might be a little on the small side, but he's been by far our best defensive player for a while. and you didn't address all those other teams, they have sick speed. also took at philly, they've been MONSTERS on the D and pass rush for years, and they are all smaller than us but are aggressive and fast with a great secondary. you just can't admit that there is more than one way to skin a cat, can you? -

giants, colts, miami, all spanked new england bill. what do they all have on D? speed and ability to rush. -
for me the dangerous part is OL. now our OL had a massive step back last year, and Peters and Dock played terribly at times. that cost us games. i think from LG to RT we are a bit better out the gate, and definitely better by week 10. it comes down to how we play at LT. if we lost peters of 07 then i'd suggest we'd fo sho be down, but the fact is we lost hold out hurt 2 years in a row 11 sacks giving up peters, not all pro peters. we also lost lazy fat plodding dock, not vicious blocking dock. if we get serviceable play from lt i think we are up graded on the line period. our pass rush is upgraded, our linebackers are flat to upgraded (i assume someone will step up at SAM, and poz is a year more mature), our secondary is net upgraded (leodis to me is better now than greer, and byrd is better than our other guys at FS), and our D line is better w aaron being healthy and maybin being a rusher on 3rd downs. we CLEARLY got a bunch better at skill positions and another year for edwards is a big plus. i think our team is better at almost every level and if we get any play from LT we are better everywhere.

One Stat That Will Surely Improve:

red zone TD % as well. with more maulers up front and much more size at WR and TE i think we start turning 3s into 7s -
Drafting players not at their natural position?
colin replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what did those bums ever do?!?!?!? the point to note is that what a player at a certain position does in some schools is what they will do at a different position in the pros. now maybin is a DE and that's what he will be for us, jayson taylor but less gay. but our new LB was a bit a rover in school at S so it won't be a million miles off, and the interior O line guys are all versatile. -
Round 5, Pick 147: NIC HARRIS, OLB, Oklahoma
colin replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan 2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he's a guy with some limits to him, but COULD turn out to be just the kind of LB we want. so many of the highly rated LBs were just not fit in the passing game to play for us. maluaga, cushing, and laurinitis all have moments of brilliance, but i don't think one of them could play the pass like poz at all, so getting one wouldn't really help us. -
Questions For Those Who Have Seen
colin replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
kearse, freeny, mathis. -
brown and barwin, both of whom i kinda liked, are project guys with lots of question marks. maybin is the most gifted natural pass rusher in the draft by far. quick, hungry, hard working, great reaction time, super long arms, good upper body strength. the knock on maybin is being light and not good on the run -- both jayson taylor and aaron schoble had the same knock be grew to be stud run defenders in the nfl. maybin has all the tools to get to the passer THIS YEAR. i don't see how any pass rusher grades above him.

Round 2, Pick 42: JAIRUS BYRD, CB, Oregon
colin replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan 2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
exactly. the idea is with ellis stepping up, schoble getting healthy, and maybin coming we will be getting pressure on passing downs. having an extra play maker (where scott and wilson were anything but) in the secondary should result in more turnovers. -
so if he is a day one starting safety and comes up with picks and big plays, that's idiocy? they went big time on interior blocking this off season, and i think they love bell and think he is ready right now to start. we'll see tho, they prolly think they can get a vet to play tackle if they need one for a year, with bell on the come up.

Posters analysis of this draft will indicate
colin replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
to me we got a situation starter on d in maybin (and that's a good thing, as it means he is playing only to his strength while new), a starter on D in byrd, and 2 starters (maybe not day one, but call it one day one and one later on) on the interior o line. we got athletic nasty nasty smart nasty hard working nasty guys in the trenches now. dock had sick talent but was a soft fayg, and our previous centers really sucked, so now we have a strong middle of the o line, and perhaps a legit pass rush. that would have gotten us a few more wins last year. -
i want polynesian guys -- best hair and names in the nfl. imagine if we got maualuga along w kavika and poz? talk about hair and names!!

Round 2, Pick 42: JAIRUS BYRD, CB, Oregon
colin replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan 2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
so on 3rd and long we have aaron and maybin rushing on the edges, and have youboty, mclovin, mcgee, corner, donte, and byrd in coverage. you guys realize that nickle and dime account for over half of 3rd downs and like 40% of all plays, right? -
where would brown play for us? behind aaron and maybin? he's another little guy who won't be good against the run, and he has very very limited moves. we also have denney kelsey and ellis. i thought an OLB would make sense, but if they think there is a guy in FA who will match sintim then they don't bother with sintim, and i'm pretty sure they think any tackle on the board is no better than bell
-
very physical guy, i think he might be our new safety.
-
sintim makes sense. guy would be a day one upgrade for us

top rated C. \ BILL IN NYC I WANT YOU TO SMILE ON THIS!!
-
every report says he is teh fastest, most sudden, and has the most natural pass rush talent.\ they also say he is tough and durable. if he rotates in with our 5 other ends and rushes the passer, this is a great thing. i wonder if some of you even like football.

some good players for us left
