  1. Bet he's regretting turning down that Bills offer now. He should fire his agent, because that was by far the best offer he'll get.
  2. "Inside sources" need to learn not to speak in 1st person definitive language. Indicate that there is "talk of/discussion of/consideration of" by a "source close to the situation". That way we can speculate together in a healthy discussion, and offer leniency to them when things go awry. If "inside source" makes brash statements like "we're cutting him tomorrow" or "we're signing him Monday" and these things never materialize, than they deserve to be discredited/disrespected as a source. We all like inside scoops, just not statements of fact when they clearly are not.
  3. It would also negatively impact our chances of being a playoff team, and maybe a very good one at that, if we cut him. Let's remember, it's his abilities to help us win games as a player, not mere nostalgia for our beloved Freddy, that is the primary reason he needs to be on our team.
  4. I love Freddy as much as anyone, but let's not get carried away and think he'll be above McCoy on the depth chart, people. His role will be that of a complimentary back who will spell LeSean, give us some meaningful carries, provide added blocking and receiving on passing downs, and in case of injury to McCoy step in as starter. Valuable? Yes. Feature back? No.
  5. Nah, he got handled pretty good. We had 49 yds rushing. Suh had 5 tackles, one for a loss.
  6. Great point. He's not physically strong enough to handle that kind of power...something to consider in FA/Draft.
  7. Still get softy nostalgic thinking back to the Irv, Tom, Rick era of Eyewitness News. Great memories.
  8. Still scarred from when Ultraman was taken off the air.
  9. Frank Gore turns 32 in May. He's had over 1,200 more regular season carries than Freddy plus an additional 342 playoff carries. He's considered to still be an elite back being fought over in free agency. Let's keep perspective, people. Age is a relative number, and Fred has not given any indication he is not capable of being a strong complimentary back to McCoy. Like Kenneth Davis supported Thurman Thomas, you need two quality backs if you want to win big.
  10. What if Mario Williams looks a step slower and just can't cut it? Do we cut him? How about Kyle Williams? He's super popular, but what if time and injuries have taken their toll. Does the team have the temerity to waive him? Look, your entire argument about FJ is based on the false pretense that fans wanted him back as a lovable folk hero to be retained out of pure sentiment. That's ignoring the facts. That's creating a false reality in which a bad running back (Bryce Brown) is better than Freddy. Freddy was better than Bryce last year. Much, much better. Bryce Brown was a failure. The only reason he got off the practice squad was due to Freddy AND CJ going down in the same game. Fans want to win. They see a player who is the better being pushed out. A better leader, better receiver, better blocker, better runner, better teammate, better competitor, better performer in the clutch, better influence on others...just better in every way. His age is not relevant to that fact. He was much better than Brown at 33, and there is no reason to believe he wouldn't be better at 34. Those who blindly trust The Doug even when their eyes and reasoning says otherwise, well, a lot of us respectfully do not. Look, GMs have their own agendas, too. Sometimes they are selfish ones. They're human, and are at times even more subjective than fans. In this case, Fred isn't Whaley's guy he's Whaley's inheritance. Meanwhile, Whaley traded for Brown and in the process invested a piece of his reputation in getting it right. Well, he got it wrong. Fortunately, the fans and the owner himself stepped in and corrected the judgment error. Because of this, if Shady needs some rest or misses a game all is not lost. We have a replacement in Freddy who can jump right in and win us games. Could Brown? Not the one we saw last year, and we're too good of a team now to take any chances on a stiff who bombed out in his extended audition last season carrying a critical load next season. Draft pick be damned, the smart move was retaining Freddy.
  11. Maybe his issues were bigger than the public is being told. This is a very long rehab, certainly more than if he was just a spoiled party-boy heading off to a luxury spa to boost his reputation stock. Wish him well.
  12. I'd rather pass a jagged kidney stone glazed with Tabasco than sign this pouty-face douche.
  13. All that matters is we have signed a very good player who's approaching greatness. Our defensive front seven is insane.
  14. Talk about an organization in free fall. I'll be surprised if they win 6 games.
  15. You're not biased, you're objective, reasoned and completely accurate.
  16. Well, he's certainly not in the same league as Jim or Bryce Brown.
  17. If I were coach I'd definitely give him a shot. Why not? Of course,. after the clash of civilizations between him and Ryan a couple years ago, that ship ain't sailing near WNY.
  18. I think almost everyone understands this. The owner will have his way when he decides to have his way. He openly declared Whaley and Ryan will both REPORT to him. Yes, they are in charge of their responsibilities, but they must REPORT to Pegula. If Pegula doesn't like what they REPORT to him he'll make the call. If he decides to let them have their way, fine. If he decides to override, like he transparently did with Freddy, it's because HE, the OWNER, has the final word.
  19. That's a factually inaccurate assessment. It's simply a fact that Pegula does have veto power over anything and everything that has to do with the organization. He has not hid the fact that Whaley reports to him, and that any substantial decisions will require Pegula's stamp of approval.
  20. Oops! This post just discredited you, Leroi. You have dropped several predictions in a row, which can maybe be explained away by changes on the ground if you want the benefit of every doubt, but you overplayed your hand on the Whaley outranks Pegula comment. He most certainly does not, and the source I quote directly from that is Pegula himself. Looks like your little charade is over, bub. We now know you're a fraud.
  21. The people have spoken. Don't mess with our Freddy.
  22. Per WGR twitter, Freddy staying with no changes to his contract. This is perfect. He deserves that money, and we aren't on the hook for guaranteed money beyond this year. Total win.
  23. Shady + Freddy + Booby + Powell = buh-bye Bryce Brown.
  24. In with Freddy, in with Powell, out with Brown. Win/Win/Win
