  1. Hope we get the double dose of good news that Brown will be traded/cut and Freddy retained. From strictly a football perspective, Brown is a terrible running back who shouldn't waste the roster spot of a more deserving player. Powell would be a better choice because he can both provide speed depth at RB and contribute to special teams, where Brown is strictly a back, and not a good one at that.
  2. Guess it worked.
  3. His cap hit is $1.1 million LOWER than last season, and 25th in the NFL overall. Before the McCoy trade, the Bills were willing to pay a stiff like Spiller over $4 million. Freddy is a UFA next season. Pay the man his money and let's get on with business of building a winner. http://overthecap.com/position/running-back/2015
  4. Love it. Hate on Pegula for meddling with HIS team because of a tweet that said he got involved. I didn't think there were people so naive to doubt that every single owner in the NFL gets involved on significant personnel matters. I would say cutting one of the most popular players in franchise history to satisfy an ego trip by the GM...who, as Pegula publicly stated from the beginning, reports directly to HIM...qualifies as significant. I'm sure Terry is not micromanaging small stuff, but this was a very bad move and demanded his attention.
  5. Who ripped the McCoy trade? The Brown trade was the big loser. Freddy is making fair pay for his worth. God forbid McCoy goes down and we get stuck again with Brown. Short memories for some just how big the drop off was last year when Freddy got injured.
  6. By no measure, and I mean everything accross the board, on and off the field, in the locker room and in overall contribution and value as a player, is Bryce Brown anywhere near as good or valuable as 34yo Fred Jackson. Fred was our offensive MVP last season. Career high with 66 catches, led the team in rushing, best blocker, best clutch performer, and his numbers are skewed by the fact he fought to come back early from injury and play with pain. Bryce Brown was the worst back on the team last season. Terrible vision, plays smaller than his size, bad blocker, fumbled in the clutch, and was legit beat out by Freddy both before and after the injury. Not only is Freddy better, but I question whether Brown should even make the final roster cut even if Freddy were gone. No way is this about anything on the field. It's about ego. Whaley's stubborn insistence on justifying his bad trade. Period.
  7. I knew it. Follow Tim Graham‏@ByTimGraham Bills want that trade to start producing. If Fred stays, Brown remains buried RT @chrishinca42 why is Brown number 2, Keep Jackson instead
  8. IMO, this is about Whaley trying to forcibly justify his bad trade for Bryce Brown, who flat out sucks. Seems a pattern for Whaley to keep beating the dead horse of his overreaches until we revolt. So, in keeping with this, OUR Freddy must be sacrificed to validate his quest. Well, let's see how this one plays out with fans and media for ya, Dougy boy.
  9. Freddy being cut to save a couple dollars and add special teams depth?
  10. Hard to believe he's gonna be 34 in July. Seems like just yesterday he was a young superstar. Time flies.
  11. Kinda surprised to hear we're not in this mix.
  12. Would the Steelers have won their Super Bowl XL without the leadership and motivation of aging, beloved Jerome Bettis finishing the last season of his career? Hell, they dedicated their whole season to him. Would the Giants have beaten us without aging, beloved OJ Anderson, the old warrior vet playing his final season? No chance. Sometimes, a player at the end of his career can inspire a good team to greatness. If Freddy were to have his farewell season in 2015, the city, the team, the fans, hell maybe even the football world would be inspired and moved by the idea of winning one for Freddy. It might even be enough to lift us from a playoff contender to something much, much more. Fred is a special player who had a special career who built a special bond with the city and its fans. In many ways, he symbolizes Buffalo. A player like this is not another replaceable commodity. As Buffalo's favorite son, who has such a special and unique love affair with the town and the team, to not ride this final wave to possible glory for us all would be an injustice beyond measure.
  13. A lot of inside sources seem to agree that Freddy's leaving is fait accompli. If so, I'm genuinely disappointed to hear this. Freddy is not just a quality vet who always gets the critical extra yard, block or catch, he's also the heart and soul of the team. The consummate pro whose work ethic, attitude, leadership and credibility is necessary for every successful team. He's so much more valuable than a free agent special teams contributor, or a never-has-been stiff like Bryce Brown, who showed no heart and failed miserably trying to replace injured Freddy last season. The impact of losing Freddy cannot be measured in statistics or dollars. It would be a damn shame for this young, talented team starved for leadership, and the fans of Buffalo who love him, to have this happen now.
  14. Bryce Brown is toast. No way Freddy goes.
  15. Love this line in the article: "After wading through last season with the milquetoast Kyle Orton..."
  16. Why does anyone care what a bunch of sports radio hacks have to say about the Bills choices? Would you also listen to them about what groceries you buy or who you decide to marry? They are just blowhard, 2nd rate entertainers rambling about crap they honestly know almost nothing about. Move along, people. Nothing to hear here.
  17. Love Chip Kelly. He handed us a Top 5 back for a damaged goods LB that probably wouldn't have started. Go Chippy, Go Chippy...
