NFL Rules That Are Nothing Short of Contradictory ?
Taro T replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd put it more at 50-50, as his hands never stopped moving before the ball was on the turf. Either way, whichever way they'd've called it on the field, I'd expect the ruling wouldn't be overturned. -

Quite possibly, as he likely wouldn't have been trying to put the ball down and begin his celebration asap. -

Not disagreeing with your comments, just noting a certain irony that Houston wouldn't sell out the dome in the Glanville/Pardee era unless Pittsburgh or the Pokes were in town w/out Randall's buying the last few hundred / several thousand seats and that was in the midst of a 6-7 year playoff run. -
NFL Rules That Are Nothing Short of Contradictory ?

Except that play isn't set up the way Beerball described it. He set the ball on the ground (intentionally, I'll grant you) at the end on the same motion that he'd caught the ball with. Though I might agree that he clearly intentionally 'dropped' the ball, he didn't take steps while already in possession of the ball. He got his feet on the ground in the process of making the catch. There didn't appear to be any steps after he'd caught the ball, the steps were made while the catch was being made. Which is a significant difference IMHO. -

An example of where the receiver had control of the ball while taking steps and then lost the ball after hitting the turf and not getting the TD isn't immediately coming to mind. Do you have an example? What you have described seems more analogous to a runner that was already bobbling a ball before crossing the goalline. The runner wouldn't be awarded the TD unless he recontrolled the ball after crossing the line. Once the ball is controlled in the endzone, the play is dead. On a catch the ball isn't controlled until the catch is complete. Running a few strides without bobbling it would complete the catch and establish control. -

If it has been controlled for a couple of steps, then there would have been the proverbial 'football move' and the receiver is now a runner and it's a touchdown when he crosses the line. -

But there is a difference between the 2. The runner has possession of the ball once it is handed to him and if he maintains that possesion until the ball reaches the goaline, it is a touchdown. The reciever doesn't have possession until he has 'completed the catch.' As soon as he has possession and the ball has reached the goalline, it is a touvhdown. If simply touching the football, rather than controlling it were the rule (as you seem to be advocating), then James Hardy would still have a job. -
Bills D finishes #1 in NFL in yards allowed per drive
Taro T replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Until the NO game, the Bills were tied or in the lead in the 4th quarter of every single game. And they were in that spot in at least 2 more (if not 3 or 4 more) games they lost later this year. How much milking the clock contributed to those per drive stats? -
NFL reviewing Manning's yards record
Taro T replied to SBUffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When OJ got his 2,003, didn't he initially only have 2,001 but after the official stats were in it was bumped to 2,003? If Manning threw a lateral, Breese should still hold the record. -

Hasn't she been offering that and haven't they been doing that since 2007? -
Back in the '80's many union contracts were tied to the minimum wage. Is that still the case? If so, isn't this more about the D's core constituency than the high school kid w/ an entry level job?

You sure about that? I'm pretty sure Ralph was insistant that the Orchard Park stadium be at least 80,000 when it was built.

New overtime rules are awful. Great article attached

Only in the regular season. In the playoffs, there are only 2 minor changes from regulation: 1st goal wins it & no TV commercial breaks. -

But back before the kickoff was moved to the 30 the split was pretty close to 50-50. IIRC, it was 48%-52% with the team getting the ball winning slightly less than 1/2 the time. This is an elaborate solution, beyond what was neccessary. -
I really want to know why some around here are calling for a new QB...ALREADY. I'm as frustrated as anyone that the season is on the verge of being over in November (again), but EJ has played 5+ games in the NFL. He's looked good and he's looked bad. It's all part of the learning process. Troy Aikman went 1[/s ] 0 -15 11 in his first year. Peyton Manning went 3-13 in his first year. Just because three rookie QBs excelled in their first season last year doesn't mean every rookie QB will do the same. Have patience, people. Fixed. Walsh got the start in that second Skins game. Aikman only QB'd 11 of the L's. Walsh got the other 4 of those as well. Not a biggie and the point still stands.

Terry Mcauliffe Wins Virginia

Sure there's a connection. People that eat out a lot at nice restaurants are either single, widowers, or people with a lot of diposable income that send thier children to private schools. You know, the type that typically vote down school budgets. By making them pay more which will ENTIRELY go towards school children ;), then the individual school district tax requests will be lowered and these greedy folks with too much disposable cash will be less likely to vote down the reasonable local tax increases. /sarcasm -
But it's not fair to only consider the people that signed up via the website. They must have had at LEAST 2 additional people sign up via phone.
