Interesting. Didn't see that as a move forward, but didn't see going for a McCarron as the plan B behind a rookie when they traded Taylor either. Hope whichever way it goes, they make it work.
-
Really hoping whoever they draft pans out as they have no experienced arms in house. If the rookie tbnl pans out, swapping Taylor to McCarron works. But really not confident right now about it. Peterman has to be the saddest person in WNY right now as his job security just dropped precipitiously. Really can't see them keeping 3 young guys on the roster.

Chicago Is A Training Ground For Medics
Taro T replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Though Chicago is experiencing a sustained drop in murders since a dramatic spike in 2016, it remains a city where a high number of gunshot victims cycle through the trauma center night after night. About 30% of patients at Stroger Hospital, on Chicago’s near West Side, are admitted to the trauma ward with wounds from firearms, compared with a national average of 4.2% for level 1 trauma centers—hospitals certified to have the resources to handle multiple victims with penetrating and other serious wounds—according to the National Trauma Data Bank. “The experience here can’t be replicated elsewhere, unless you have a major land invasion,” said Dr. Faran Bokhari, who chairs the trauma & burn surgery unit at the hospital. Like Rahm Emanuel famously said, "never let a crisis go to waste." -
No. What people have been saying about revelations that Mueller's investigation is that finding that Trump's team was trying to establish "backdoor connections" in January doesn't make sense if they ALREADY (allegedly) had connections. Which, to have colluded in the Fall, they would necessarily have to have had. Wtf do they need to set up connections if those connections already exist? Either they already had connections & didn't need new connections or they couldn't have colluded prior to the election because they didn't have connections. (Or, both stories are bunk; but even giving you the benefit of the doubt saying 1 might be true, which one is it Bob?)

Tillerson's out. Pompeo to be the new SoS
Taro T replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There'd been so much talk of Tillerson being out over the past year, none of which panned out, figured he was safe through the midterms. -
Glad you're well.

Rep. Schiff wanted the probe to remain open ended. Couldn't have seen THAT coming.

In fairness, Frank has to have been dead for at least 30 years. Poor guy must be spinning in his grave. How could people following his legacy be that obtuse? (Where's the shaking your head emoji when you really need it?)

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

Ummmmmm, in what alternate universe does that sentiment even begin to appear reasonable? No guarantees that talks will be fruitful, though the speculation that a deal is already imminent is plausible, but this is the 1st that NK has even hinted at getting rid of their nukes as truly negotiable. That in itself is a great development. -
Sadly, the bolded makes sense & seems plausible.

So, 44 issuing vague threats about what relaliation might look like was thought to be more threatening than stating something along the lines of "if you do this, we will do that?" SERIOUSLY? And this from an article written by a "friendly." How in the #### is a guy who hasn't followed through on specific threats (red line in the sand, anyone?) going to be deemed MORE serious by making non-specific ones? Putin probably laughed in his face to that one.

Wasn't clear on my statement about "cooler heads" apparently. Meant that before they try to implement the policy would hope that they realize these schemes never work out for anybody except, arguably, the few oligarchs that end up with the spoils. It's arguably that even they end up ahead in the grand scheme because they invariably don't know how to maintain the productivity of what they just stole. If this goes through expect starving people w/in a decade.

What could possibly go wrong? The forced evictions of landowners have been remarkably successful at raising the general population's welfare in the past century or so. /sarcasm Hopefully, when they get to thinking through how to do this "without disrupting agricultural production" cooler heads prevail. But wouldn't want to have any money on it.

RIP Lane's dad. Guess the paperboy will never get his $2 now. -
Really hoping you are right about Mueller's investigation. If you aren't, we are on the verge of civil unrest not seen since the '60's. (Hopefully just the 1960's, butit might be more 1860's-ish.) We probably still arein for some serious tumult evenif you are right. But if someone people have been certain dislikes Trump shows that there were some serious bad actors aligned against him & our political system, maybe they'll come around. Fully expecting the IG report to be 90% in line with what you've been anticipating the last 14-18 months. And if it turns out that 45's also dirty. So be it. Drain the entire swamp. Not expecting it in his political dealings because we still haven't seen anything from the leak factoryin over 1 year that is substantiated in a non-circular reference sort of way. But if it's there, drain away.

The Deep State War Heats Up
Taro T replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The tide really is turning. -
One other thing the New Yorker article does try is to exonerate 44 for not making the Russian "hacking" public. It's now McConnell's fault.
-
Good catch on the bolded. Had thought the point of the piece (besides telling the world how apolitical Steele is while highlighting his potical instincts ) was to hit people over the head with the FACT that 44 & Biden (& even Hillary roundaboutly) knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about the dossier until January '17. Sure they didn't.

Lincoln was President for life. So, the Republicans have a history with this proposition. IMPEACH!!!!!!! -
