  1. First off, you dodged my question: Which team is in that situation? Secondly, to answer your question... not unless you can give me specific examples. Between the ever increasing cap (skyrocketing by over $25M each year with streaming revenue), having most guys locked up already, and some bad contracts cycling out, and cheap rookie replacements, there shouldnt be much worry about being able to retain pretty much everyone. We have our franchise QB locked up, our 2 tackles locked up, we dont have any big WRs who will command big money. A lot of rookies on D and most of our D stars locked up. No one coming up will command huge money. We're set to pay Knox $17M next year, obviously that cant happen. We pay Samuel $8M to be WR4 role player. I'd rather have Cook and his contributions than both of them combined. Who are you worried about specifically? Can't just have this "boogie man" argument.
  2. Our 6 year old and everyone in her 1st grade class are obsessed. And we know some 10 year old boys who are into it. Not sure if teens would be into it since all kids are mostly interested in things just above their age range, ha. But this 46 year old is jammin on the soundtrack!
  3. Yeah, the old saying goes "the hammer does not consider the nail a rival". The Pats rivals in the 00s were Colts and Ravens. Maybe even Miami since is seemed like the Dolphins could somehow manage some crazy win to split 1-1. BUt definitely not the Bills or Jets.
  4. Yeah. When the Pats were good I was bitter and hated them. Now that they stink, I'm happy and still hate them.
  5. Dolphins, Chiefs, Ravens, Pats, Cincy, Jets. In that order for me. Could possibly throw the Jags on that list since they always seem to get us.
  6. Slow your roll. We're all too busy trying to run Cook out of town first. Let's get that done this year, then we can move on to Coleman. But just a heads up, Coleman might have to wait until we're done with Kincaid. Not your fault, we have a lot of hate to get out.
  7. With Dawkins coming in at #42 (congrats!), I cant imagine anyone else who would be higher than that besides Josh. So looks like the Bills on the list will be Cook, Dawkins, and Josh. Sounds about right.
  8. Recently went down a 90s songs podcast rabbit hole. Really interesting/sad story behind the Gin Blossoms and Doug Hopkins who wrote their hits, but left the band (alcoholism) before they hit it big, and then drank himself to death at 32 with the regret. (For anyone interested, podcast is "60 Songs the Explain the 90s". Host can be annoying sometimes, but there are some really interesting episodes. I highly recommend the Third Eye Blind/Semi Charmed Life episode to start)
  9. His new contract would be an extension and not kick in until next year. And if anything does change this year, it would likely lower his cap hit. Thats usually how this works.
  10. Which team is in that situation?
  11. Denver Broncos, you're our only hope...
  12. Yeah, in some fairness to McDaniel, he already commented that Hill had work to do to repair relationships. Can't keep harping on it 2-3 weeks later while the guys are trying to work on it.
  13. Ok, so we disagree on what "reasonable" means. I'd think reasonable means fair to both. Seems like you're saying reasonable is when a player takes far less than their value. Which imo is unfair to the player and therefore not reasonable. Reasonable would be something in between. If Cook started at his advertised $15M, and Beane started at his usual $10M (Bernard, Poyer, etc), then reasonable might be $12M-$13M. It very well could be that Beane has his plan, and will not go above $11M. To which I'd say, in that case, Beane was unreasonable. Fine if he wants to stick to his plan, but dont blame Cook like he's the (only) unreasonable one. But we're just guessing. eta: I'd say Rousseau and Benford's deals were "reasonable". --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- rea·son·a·ble /ˈrēzənəb(ə)l,ˈrēznəb(ə)l/ adjective adjective: reasonable 1. (of a person) having sound judgment; fair and sensible. 2. as much as is appropriate or fair; moderate.
  14. How much has Beane offered? And what is Cook's agent's latest counter? Shakir signed a very team-friendly deal as a 5th round pick. That does not make it "reasonable" just because it makes fans happy. For all we know, Beane is offering $11M and Cook's last ask was $13M. Reasonable. All the reports are that they are very close. So it must be reasonable. A lot of assumptions in this post...
  15. Whether they sign him or not has nothing to do with anything he's done and if they are going to "tolerate" it. He hasnt done a single thing outside the ordinary for modern NFL contract negotiating. Beane isnt that dumb to cut off his nose to spite his face. If a deal got done today, whether for $10M/yr or $15M/yr, by the end of the Ravens game anything/everything will be long forgotten. Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, TJ Watt, Myles Garrett all did even more and got their deals. Terry McClaurin has been vocal and is holding in, and will get his deal. Trey Hendrickson and Micah Parsons are far more dramatic in their situations, and will get their deals. And those are just from THIS year. This stuff happens across the league every year. Shame on us fans for giving it so much attention and energy. It matters far less to the players and FOs.
  16. Got us to 4 super bowls, in a row!
  17. I know he was "injured" and this is borderline conspiracy theory, but some think Lamar Jackson kinda did just that a couple years ago. At the very least, he wasnt rushing to get back. Know what else you get out of UGA players? Championships.
  18. Got bit by the New Contract Injury Bug! At least he signed his deal before this happened, for his sake.
  19. Bills Mafia erotic BDSM fanfic. Seems like a lot of folks would love to get off on something like this for whatever reason. Weird that so many people saying "you dont pay RBs! they arent worth it!" also want us to use a 1st round pick on replacing our star RB. Instead of being able to snag another WR, OT, or Defensive player...
  20. That was different since Poyer was motivated to take whatever Beane offered just to get his wife to shut up.
  21. AB$OLUTELY Just like every decision and rule the NFL implements. It's to protect the shield and make/keep as much money as possible. I was questioning all this until the concussion thing was mentioned. Makes total sense why they would stop providing them.
  22. Of course it's ultimately Cooks decision and action. And he has decided to prioritize maximizing his payout. So he is listening to his hired negotiator on how to get there.
  23. They all understand the business. They all are in the same boat and support each other getting as much money as each of them can. It's the players vs the owners in a good union. Not the workers against each other.
  24. Well, who is describing him? Some non-official twitter account talking to their "source" who want to hype it up as much as possible. And even if it came from the Cowboys, of course their going to hype it as well. What else would they say? "We're trading Micah Parsons for a good but 2nd tier back"? Also, for what it's worth, as I watch camp and Cook coverage on ESPN, NFLN, radio shows, etc, they ALL refer to Cook as a "top 5 back" or "elite RB". Whether he is or isnt, and whether we believe them or not, doesnt matter. The point is, it is how he is referred to and talked about across NFL media.
  25. I fully expect Vrabel to pull one over on McD and squeak out one last-minute win over some rules technicality or having his players ready for something that we arent ready for. It's still our division, but we'll likely be 5-1 after splitting with the Pats (assuming we dont bench starters the last game as well) Not sure the Jets should even be compared to the Beatles. More like Aaron Rodgers was the Wes Scantlin of the Puddle of Mudd Jets.
