  1. I hear Eric's house is now up for sale.... The bills have a right to ask him to take a pay cut, and he has a right to refuse to do so. HOWEVER, he is still under contract, and if he is not released or traded, he should honor that contract. Give back his bonus money?? I think the Sundowner has most all of it by now.
  2. I agree that JP made lots of mistakes last year, and played like, well...a 1st year starter, which is what he was. He didn't play well enough to win many games. I do not know if he will be good or bad. He might be great, he might suck. This season, there should be an open QB competition, and if JP is good enough to start, he will win the job. IF he wins the job and starts, he will have a chance to play, and hopefully demonstrate progress. If you said he has a rag arm, you are wrong and I discount your opinion! He was drafted in part because he was so good at throwing the deep ball! Some say he isn't a leader...to this i disagree. He showed some flashes that i liked very much. One example was calling out Reed after he ran the wrong route. The other was, when that security guard went down on a deep TD pass Losman threw to Evans, JP was the 1st to run out onto the field and shake the guys hand. He is a straight shooter, is fiery. He has a personality that people can get behind. Of course, being a young player, and not having a lot of success, you can't expct him to be the vocal leader of the team. That would be a) fake, and b) not well received. He has to be himself 1st, if he has success the others will listen and get behind him.
  3. My point exactly, as you clearly contradict yourself again. Face it, you are wrong, dude. Eli did not put up better numbers than JP. Interesting how you keep quoting numbers and stats, and then when u are wrong you state you aren't interested in stats. Please enlighten us with several examples, and define what you mean by 'typical' for a QB starting in his 1st year. -- but then you go quoting stats of Elway, but aren't interested in stats. OK, so the bottom line is that you would have cut Elway also? And probably Aikman too. BRILLIANT!! As for the plan at QB for the Bills, I actually think we're on the same page. You said you are all for letting him develop, but if he doesn't get any better he will sit on the bench. That is my point exactly. He might be Elway or he might be Akili Smith....or something in between. Fact is we don't know, and the only way to find out is for him to play. Cutting him would be, possibly, the dumbest move in the history of pro sports. IMO, JP has to win the job going into this year. If he can't beat out Holcomb and Nall, he shouldn't be the starter. But Holcomb is not the answer, and is a temporary band aid for a life threatening hemorrhage.
  4. i don't know, 22nd in the country is pretty good for a guy who only does it as a hobby. Notice there is a dude from lackawanna who is #9 overall -- i bet we could get him on day 2!
  5. Your an ass...do you really want to argue that Eli's 1st season was significantly better than JP's? Honestly? OK, how about this: 1) JP has a BETTER completion % in his 1st year than Eli does. 2) JP has a significantly HIGHER QB rating than Eli did (65 vs 55) 3) JP threw for MORE TDs and FEWER INT's than Eli did (And Eli had ~80 more pass attempts than JP) 4) JP threw for over 1300 yards, Eli had 1000 yards (And Eli had ~80 more pass attempts than JP) (And JP also ran for 150+ yards) 5) JP had a higher yards per pass attempt than Eli (5.9 vs. 5.3) You say "Moreover, Eli Manning as a rookie broke 65% twice.... Losman - never." I say"Moreover, Eli Manning as a rookie broke 30% twice.....Losman - never." --> Eli had a game where he went 4 for 18 -- 4 for 18!!! Do you understand? You can spin the numbers however u like. Bottom line is they both have very similar stats in the 1st year....not great. But your argument that Eli was better than JP his 1st year is wrong. If anything, JP had a BETTER year than Eli did over the same portion of their careers. Quite a bit better by the stats. BTW, you also didn't read that post you replied to....says the duration of time BEFORE a QB completes 60% over a season is usually a few years....nobody said JP HAD a 60% completion rate! You need to do some homework before you come spewing your nonsense.
  6. just wait, you haven't heard jerry sullivan yet! i like brad -- he and jeremy used to have good chemistry when they were on together. But he is doing a nice job himself. Schoop or the Bulldog is better than Schoop AND the Bulldog. They talk a lot of nonsense when on together. The AM show is pop radio....they do as much sports on shred and regan! I got me sirius, on my AM commute i listen back and forth from howard & WGR. I agree, some of the howard simon shows are awful.
  7. JP wasn't Tom Donahoe's 1st round draft pick....he was the Bills 1st round draft pick. Big difference...
  8. Not true -- not over the same amount of playing time JP has had. JP has better numbers than Eli did in Eli's 1st 7 games as a pro. You need to get your facts str8.
  9. OH, BABY! Here's the breakdown, from draft value chart. A 22+29 is about equiv. to a #8. So a str8 swap of our next year #1 to denver for this years 22 & 29 is a perfect swap. Work in a contingency to make up any big differences next year with a day 2 pick xchange either way. Also trade our #8 to Vikings for their #17 and #48 this year. We Get....a whole new team! Hoping we also sign Pickett: 17 - Winston Justice, OT USC 22 - Kiwanuka, DE BC 29 - Nick Mangold, C OSU 42 - Ko Simpson, S S.Carolina 48 - J Addai, RB LSU 70 - McIntosh, LB Miami 73 - Bradie Croyle, QB Alabama even tom donahoe could find one good backup if u give him 7 picks on the 1st day!
  10. now that's the best idea i have heard yet -- and based on the draft value chart, it is a perfect trade: Our #8 = 1400, vikings #17 (950) + #48 (420) are of equal value. I would totally do that. We'd get 5 picks on the 1st day! How does this grab you: 17 - Bunckley, DT 42 - Latui, OG USC 48 - Joseph Addai, RB LSU 70 - Mcintosh, LB Miami 73 - Brodie Croyle, QB Alabama Or, if we sign Pickett: 17 - Winston Justice, OT USC 42 - Ko Simspon, S USCarolina 48 - Joseph Addai, RB LSU (or OLine if u like) 70 - Mcintosh, LB Miami 73 - Brodie Croyle, QB Alabama I am still taking a QB if we don't sign Mcown...if not on day 1, I want Reggie Mcneal or Drew Olson on Day 2
  11. Yeah, the eagles are really happy with the impactful move they made on T.O. last year. Philly was just glad to finally get dis-impacted today.
  12. I hope they bring him back to the broadcast next year...i personally liked having a players perspective, and appreciated his comments. He should get another opportunity!
  13. Wow, you canucks can be a suspicious lot. Sirius NFL Radio is usually the quickest on the draw...they announced it 20 minutes ago.
  14. I heard it from Key himself...he doesn't have a website Jerry Jones got into hot water because he was on a radio show talking about how he'd like TO to be a cowboy. Philly threatened to go after him for tampering. Jones has made it pretty clear he wants him. It will probably be done very quickly...we'll see. Parcell's cutting Meshawn is pretty interesting. He was always thought of as a 'Parcells guy'.
  15. it would be #1 this year AND #1 next year. No way. Saints would love it! They'd get a #8 overall this year, and TWO upper half #1 picks next year! WOW! No wonder everyone wants to trade down.
  16. Based on the draft value chart: http://www.theredzone.org/2005/draft/draftvaluechart.asp the #2 overall pick is worth 2600 our #8 overal is worth 1400, our #2 is worth 500 Our top 3rd round pick is 230 So to get to #2 this year, even our 1st, 2nd AND top 3rd round pick would not do it. We'd have to give up this yrs 1st and 2nd (1900 total), AND next years 2nd (~500 +/- 100 depending on next years record). That's A LOT. I don't think it's realistic. I would not take anyone other than Leinart at #2.
  17. this is business, that's what all the players say. Now EM doesn't like it when he doesn't get his way? Screw that. There is NO loyalty of players to their teams, why should the team do the player any favors? What benefit do the bills get now by cutting him now? None. What is the upside of keeping him...you may have room for him afterall, even at this stupid salary. Or you might be able to use him as trade bait. If you need the cap space for something later, you can cut him at your leisure.
  18. my sources from deep within one jags drive says MW will be a solid 10 year starter in this league. Will make the pro bowl once as an alternate.
  19. remember the Aints lost Lecharles, weakening the OLine. DBrick would offset this loss, and protect the shiny new QB they just bet the franchise on. DBrick makes most sense here if they keep Le pick.
  20. Mcown makes the most sense. Kerry Collins is still available. (Stop it! I'm not a big Collins fan, but is is a decent proven starting QB, which is more than i can say for the guys we got).
  21. I agree...mo money mo money mo money. Heard an interesting perspective this AM on NFL radio. Guy who was a former GM, said that you'll notice the best managed teams (colts, pats, steelers, etc) are NOT signing any players right now. He said u don't win the superbowl in march, and guys like polian said they will wait a couple of weeks for the madness to cool off. Said a number of teams are way overspending for average players -- which will lead them to problems down the road. The Bannon signing, and this signing of shelton is in that category. Bills probably overpaid for Royal, but not terribly so...tripplett and davis were reasonable.
