  1. i don't think you'll have to trade up from #8 to get williams. I think we sit tight, a good player will be there -- can't afford to give up draft picks, we have too many needs. Ngata, williams, davis, huff -- one of them will be there. Remember, we have not locked nate up beyond next year, and milloy and vincent aren't getting any younger. I love bunckley, would consider trading DOWN for an extra pick to take him also. How about our #8 for a 15ish pick, plus a #2 this year or next years #1.
  2. Would this be the last year of eric's contract ?? If u don't have a chance to resign him as a FA, then it's not worth the investment this year. Gotta get younger, and pickup a new player that can mature in the system for a year. I like jerivicious, good posession guy to complement evans.
  3. Ngata is the pick if he is there....but if not, davis is sure hard to pass up. Still, u just can't do it. YOU JUST CAN'T!! Davis is a luxury player, we have real needs on this football team.
  4. Milloy AND Wire ?? Who will play SS? You don't have another one on the roster, and none of the free safeties are physical enough to move over to strong. I'd be suprised if Milloy was released. However, i did notice that adam archuleta of the rams is an UFA....our new D-coordinator was his secondary coach with the rams.
  5. My goodness, what in the tarnation we gonna do with this OLine? Assuming Teague goes, Chris V is the ONLY proven NFL lineman we got. I will be ill if we line up with the gandy man and benny and the jets on the left side. My guess is, address DLine in the draft (start with Ngata), & patch up the OLine in free agency. Need to sign at least 2 proven OLineman as FAs. So much for the Donahoe guys, marv is gutting them!
  6. nope -- go get billy volek from the titans. If TN takes v young or lionheart in the draft, volek will be useless. He only makes ~1 million a year. If you recall he was close to signing with the bills a few years ago when he was a free agent.
  7. Rome's interview style bugs me -- if u ever notice, his guest will talk about some topic. Rome then simply repeats what the guy says, asking him a question which repeats what the guy just said. Hard to explain, here is an example: "Jim, Manny Ramirez was on 3rd base, and just missed the squeeze sign. He's done that a couple of times this year, and in the dugout we were just, like, freakin' out at his lack of concentration." Rome's next question: "Classic. Manny was on 3rd base, and everyone knows you have to look to the coach, concentrate, and get the sign right. What were the fellas thinking in the dugout?" So the guest ends up repeating everything twice.
  8. I am hoping we get ngata....fortunately (or unfortunately) we have other needs as well. If he is gone we'll still get a good player. I could see Huff as a nice pick, we'll need safety help in another year. Or Mario williams or Vernon Davis (TE) or AJ Hawk. No matter who goes before us, we should get an impact player to lock down his position for the next 5 years. #8 is a great spot to pick....top players but miss out on the top $$ of the top 5 picks.
  9. Ahhhh, the mighty 690 -- i grew up on that station. Good Times. I really miss the greatest sports talk radio personality in Southern California history -- Hacksaw. He was the franchise -- his "best 15 minutes in radio" was exactly that. Those 15 minutes were packed with as much info as you would get watching espn news all day long. How i miss ' Rancho Santa Margarita, I want to hear from you!' 'San Diego, show me your lightning bolt!' And, 'Chula Vista, I want a house wife!'. Rome impersonates him from time to time, but its such an inside joke, I doubt 90% get it. I too can only take rome in very small doses. We are lucky to have WGR, but guys like Howard, as nice as he is and as hard as he works...just can't hold a candle to hacksaw and the old mighty 690 lineup.
  10. I bet he was smoking opium while doing yoga
  11. as a satellite subscriber, i hope he stays on free radio! By the way....why are these mutually exclusive? Why not both ?
  12. haha -- hey now! If u read it, they are both very consistent content wise, just the tones are a bit different. The language i used was much of the same wording nate used, where the billsdaily provided a...well written (!) BRIEF verison in a rather favorable tone, using that highle edumacated 'i'm a writer' type big words. The conversation was pretty long - about 5mins. So a lot more there than anyone could jot down: From BillsDaily: Nate Clements was on Sirius NFL radio today and said he expects the Bills to tag him if they don't work out a long term deal before then. He figures they will tag him and get a long term deal done afterwards. He said he would like to stay in Buffalo and help get things turned around. As I said I didn't get the whole interview, this must have been at the beginning, the part i missed. On compensation, he says he's a fair man but he puts his numbers up against anybody and would like to be compensated for the way he has played over his career in Buffalo. ---CHECK (he did go expand on this quite a bit He has spoken to Marv Levy and the GM made it known that he is a priority but serious negotiations haven't started since the Bills have been preoccupied with getting the organization set up. He has yet to speak to Dick Jauron but expects a conversation soon. CHECK On last season, he said the Eric Moulds situation was minor compared to everything that went on. CHECK He refused to be baited into an answer when Shannon Sharpe suggested Mike Mularkey quit on the team. CHECK, he absolutely did say that he was suprised mularkey quit, but he guessed that he had to do what was best for him, but he didn't expect him to quit
  13. whatever happened to kordell stewart. He would seem perfect -- a reject from both the steelers and the bears.
  14. Didn't get everything, but here is the recap, on with shannon sharpe and randy cross: He wants to be paid -- will put his numbers up against ANYBODY. He has put his time in, worked hard, and needs to be paid accordingly. It's all about the jack. His father always told him to take care of his bizniss, and then everything will be fine after that. He did that for 5 years playing out his contract, now needs to get paid accordingly like the player he is. Verizon sucks, they dropped his call (after they lost him in the midst of his interview). Suprised mularkey quit on the team, wouldn't commit to saying anything against losman vs. bledsoe. When asked if that was the right move, he said they've lost a number of good players that could have helped them out since he's been in buffalo: travis, drew, peerless, pat, etc. eric moulds: his 'situation' last year one of many, he's a veteran and has been thru the wars...so it's expected he would want the ball. But was not a big deal to the team. Coaches and players not on same page last year. "It was a bad atmosphere and a bad situation for me". Nate has talked to marv, and marv told him he is high in the bills' priority list. Haven't gotten to the point to talk contract, as they've been consumed by getting the new coaching staff in place. He moved into a new house in houston 2 weeks ago, and is just getting settled in down there. Likes houston, the city is 'a good fit for me' He invited Shannon Sharpe to come down and hang out with him in Houston. Shannon says, Nate, u need to get paid -- doesn't matter who the team is, you'll play for santa claus if he is the highest bidder. Shannon speculates that miami might want him instead of ty law...nate would be the better player to sign as a free agent. Franchise tag might not be a bad thing for nate....if there is an uncapped year in 2007, he would get mad $$. In my opinion, nate's loyalty is to $$ and he has no loyalty at all to buffalo. It's all about the stats and the jacks. That said, I think we still need to resign or franchise him.
  15. i think it sucks....UB needs him more than the bills do
  16. Settle down, now boys. We can go ahead and take a TE with our 1st pick, and that would be fine. Then, when we can't stop the run, or run the ball in 2006, we can go ahead and draft a top DT NEXT year, with our top 5 pick. I'm voting for Ngata or Huff.... I wouldn't be opposed to another TE in round 2 or 3, maybe marcedes lewis or Dom Byrd in round 2 if either is available.
  17. we should move josh reed to CB, then right?
  18. Question -- that article states: "If Clements is offered a minimum of the average of the top five salaries of last season at his position, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, he becomes a "non-exclusive" franchise player and can negotiate with other clubs. The Bills can match a new club's offer, or receive two first-round draft choices if it decides not to match." 2 first round picks?? Anyone know how that works? Is it just two total (i.e, one pick in addition to the one we already have)? I assume we would get the pick of the team that signs him, correct?
  19. The other play at the end of the 1st half -- Hasselback threw to DJack, who caught it going into the end zone. They called him out....clearly lookd in to me!! And no review!! He got one foot down, then the other CLEARLY kicked over the pylon. That is a TD....not even reviewed.
  20. I don't think Ben got in on that TD run, but i don't blame them for not overturning it on replay....couldn't clearly see that he didn't get in. What was more disturbing was the side judge running in to spot the ball short...was as tho he initially forgot that the steelers were supposed to get all the calls, but remembered as he was running, so signaled TD. WHAT THE @Q#()@ ??? The other calls were inexcusable...
  21. I am guessing you aren't familiar with the WNY real estate market. What you are saying may be true, but does not apply to the OP area. So San Diego may speak the truth, but it isw not the truth here. As an FYI, willis' house is a new build, and was part of the annual homeshow where builders show off their top of the line work. If u haven't been, it is a pretty big event, there is an admission fee and buses are brought in to transport people from offsite parking. They take an entire street or two, and each builder builds one of their best homes...and it comes fully decorated, landscaped, etc. They have local painters, interior designers, landscapers, furniture stores, home theatre companies, etc. do them up also to get customers. I went to it this year, so i must have gone into Willis' house -- trust me, they are all complete with top shelf options . I also recently completed building a new home in OP not far from #21's place. I went with a competitor of the builder of willis' pad, so i am pretty up to speed on what's available in the area and how the dealio works. I totally agree that it can be cheaper to do some upgrades yourself, rather than have the builder do it up front. I did the same thing. But for $720k, and a builder's model, trust me he has granite (or other top shelf) counter tops, built in viking ranges, etc. I know what $720K gets u in OP on a new build. I know the models, options, and associated costs each builder offers. Here is a link to the home across the street from willis, also part of the home show. Most all of these homes had finished basements, some with home theatres, sports bars, etc. They also had the landscaping done. http://www.buffaloniagarahomes.com/propert...rch=NO&src=hfe# Here is another on the same street: http://www.buffaloniagarahomes.com/propert...rch=NO&src=hfe# and here is the description: JUST COMPLETED 2005 HORIZON SHOW HOME! EXPERIENCE THE RICH FEELING OF THE ARTS & CRAFTS INSPIRED HOM E! LAVISH TRIM, RICH HRDWD & CERAMIC FLRS, ENTERTAINMENT SIZED DR, BTLRS PANTRY, FORMAL LR, PRIVATE STUDY & GREAT RM SHARE FP, CUSTOM HIGH END CABINETS IN KIT W/GRANITE TOPS, WALKIN PANTRY, DINETTE OP ENS TO 3 SEASON RM, MUDRM W/2 CLOSETS & BENCH, SEP LAUNDRY, CUSTOM MESSAGE CENTER ON 1ST FLR (COMPUT ER NICHE ON 2ND FLR) MSTR SUITE W/ HIS/HER 2 SEASON CLOSETS, MSTR BTH W/WHIRLPOOL & BODY SPRAY SHOWE R, LRG BDRMS W/ WALK-INS, DAYLIGHT BSMT, EXTENSIVE LANDSCAPING. HRV-FRESH AIR HOME! here is another in the same price range in OP: http://www.buffaloniagarahomes.com/propert...arch=NO&src=hfe I see your point about dead space over the garage, etc. which does makes sense....but not in this case. His house is done -- landscaping, interior design, paint, the whole works. He may add a home theatre, and/or finished basement if it's not already included. ALso, rolling the costs into a mortgage can be attractive, and makes sense -- the downside on a new build is that it goes on top of the closing price...and hence your assesment...therefore u pay property taxes on it. So u do have to be careful about that. And your assumptions about me, by the way, would be incorrect. I have ZERO credit card debt, all vehicles paid off, no student loans. Fortunately the wife is an MBA and CPA with a prominent position in banking, so i am able to rely significantly on her, while i go out an put my doctorate degree to good use. You and San Diego speak the truth, but it doesn't apply here....
  22. yeah, this is krap -- if the colts can't win, steelers have the biggest following....they won't let Pittsblerg lose
