  1. The Bills (and most teams) use a hybrid Astro. Based on the play/opponent. They are particularly fond of the inside zone (see the Eric Wood game highlighted on BB.com) and the G-pull/power G/whatever a team calls it, with Levitre or Wood pulling to clear around the second man as the back goes upfield. In the pass game, it would depend on the protection called. In some cases, like with the Pats OL, one side may be Zone and another man and in others it's BOB (Big on Big) man it all the way. A lot of what Fitz is doing with the center is telling the line in pass pro who the "Mike" is. Because if it's a five step where the first read is say top right to middle of field, he'll want protection to ensure: 1-He's upright 2-His line of sight is unobscured and 3-The back knows who his pickup cues are going to be from.
  2. That's cash to cap Scrap. The Bills and Packers do that already.
  3. Was Stevie being there (albeit in the crowd) allowed per lockout rules? I know he was in the stands signing stuff and meeting fans...
  4. Really it's 2% they're giving up though isn't it Ramius for cap floor being raised and long-term health issues? In the long run, to me with that both sides win. If you can make more for your general body and not just the high flyers money wise and keep yourselves on the NFL Pension/Healthcare longer, that's a fair deal.
  5. Some (particularly the ESPN variety) are former college players turned analyst/scout, but yeah it's still the case...
  6. Typically in the old days, most of the time teams hired experienced coaches to be their scouts, as over their careers they'd seen what it takes to be a solid insert-position-here. Not a big deal. If you look at most scouts experience, prior to being scouts they were coaches for a while.
  7. Well, to be fair everyone's entitled to their opinion. And his employers while he was a scout had the opinion that you shouldn't have porn on your work computer, which is why he's on NFL.com. Grades are fun ways to excite/rile up fans. Regardless of good/bad/indifferent, people still read them, so why not write em?
  8. Bills Article on Jasper This was a outstanding job by Buddy in trusting his scout and giving him guidance, as well as being men of their word.
  9. If the tags hold up Beerball, if someone tries to sign Donte, they'll owe us compensation based on the slot they gave him. I'd assume they either gave him lowest (which is the round he was drafted - 1st) or the 2nd rounder if they want to move him.
  10. Bill, If you take a look at Nix's history while working within the Chargers organization you could have seen this coming. Even if you wouldn't want to give him credit for making the draft picks or FA signings, the Chargers built their current line trading for re-treads, signing vets that might be serviceable and drafting mid to late round guys that they'd try and develop. In fact, even after they had Brees and Rivers, they continually drafted dbs and linebackers or 5 technique defensive ends high. McNeil was a second round pick 2 years after they drafted Rivers. Kris Dielman was a UDFA that played Defensive tackle in college. As you said, it takes looking at Nix's drafts here to appreciate the work he's putting into it. But I'd also go one step farther and look at the pick ups he made mid-season last year, as well as whatever he does when they get a chance to sign people. I can almost guarantee they'll sign a few ex-Chargers at weak spots, as well as continually look to turn over the bottom to middle of our roster. I don't think every move is perfect, but the blueprint has worked and will work again.
  11. His Facebook page He spends a good bit of it promoting his site, and it's unfortunate some Bills fans go on there to congratulate him on his opinion on their draft...
  12. He also needs chemo this year and will be out. If anything they can (hopefully) get him with the 25th pick in the fourth or their pick in the fifth.
  13. If you look at the Ravens, the fact they can play Kelly Gregg at the nose slanting and Ngata at 5 technique allows their inside and outside backers to thrive, particularly Lewis. If we had a player of that caliber (Dareus) at 5T, that makes an 80% Merriman look like his 100%+Steroids because he has very little in his way to the QB.
  14. He typically does three mocks - one they could do, one they do based on need and then the day of they release the one that has what teams will do based on his contacts. He's typically pretty spot on with that one.
  15. One of the things in hindsight that may have affected Brohm was being insulated with his brother(s) on staff at Louisville.
  16. The latest news has Cinci wanting the wideout at 4 and hoping a qb lasts to 35 for them. If anything if we're not sold on the QBs at 34 we could get them over a barrel then....
  17. Apparently Roscoe is still rehabbing his wrist and Lee and the DBs should be there as well - this is just a pic posted via twitter. It has Easley, Levi, Fitz, Nelson and of course Stevie... Pic
  18. Do not forget, a few days later, Clayton followed up with this: My link How can he say the Bills MUST draft a QB this year at 3 one day and then follow that up by saying that there are no franchise quarterbacks in the draft?
  19. Shouldn't the question be are the guys available at QB at 3 Franchise quarterbacks? Just because we're picking that high, that doesn't make them a franchise quarterback...
  20. Promo, Don't forget to add Newton's 11 games at Blinn, where he won the NC as well. I can't find his stats there other than start/wins but as soon as I do I'll post em. he'll be well over the limit as well for starts...
  21. Just as pissed as Steelers fans if Urbik turns into a player at RG?
  22. One thing to note: the "scouts" in this case are internet journalists from scout and other draft related websites. The team and National Scouts (National, BLESTO) have seen these kids, at their schools mind you, practice and play games. So the real people that were offended were the guys who don't do that work during the year outside of going to the odd game.
  23. If we get out of the first three rounds with one of those guys and a backer like Shepphard, that'd go a long way to fixing that D.
