  1. Thanks for this. It will improve my productivity at work immensely. Since he agrees with my views on Lynch, I am happy with him. Will check out more later.
  2. Love: Lynch -- so most of you are opposed, I take the shot; I think he could be special given time and with Taylor, he has time. Like: Rankins or Butler Hate: Any CB Expect: Reed or maybe Chris Jones
  3. Jones absolutely makes sense as a mid-round qb pick. I'd much rather take a shot on someone with a higher ceiling, even if that risks a lower floor.
  4. It's obvious to everyone that Lynch needs to sit for a year or two. There won't be any controversy. Having Taylor actually makes taking Lynch more justified, imo.
  5. I am aware that his system at Memphis was so primitive, it means he has a sharp learning curve. Don't you think Whaley would clarify to the Pegulas the nature of the risk and developmental requirements on Lynch? I think he gets the go-ahead from the top before he makes a pick like Lynch. Otherwise, forget it.
  6. Thanks, I didn't know that. Guess one has to factor that in. I know you think Lynch is false gold or pirate's gold or some such. I like him -- and I like Vernon Butler if we go defense, but I don't claim any special insight. I'm usually wrong about qbs, in fact, so you're probably right. I still wouldn't be upset if we drafted him.
  7. His very low wonderlik score is somewhat concerning, but he has a lot to work with, especially if you can afford to redshirt him the first year. Taylor at minimum means the Bills are in a position to do this. I'm not good at linking, but Gil Brandt has a pretty positive view of him in his "hot 100." If he's there at #19, I take that shot. It is not equivalent to "betting the farm" and in a draft deep in defensive front seven, one can get first year defensive help in rounds 2 - 4.
  8. Yours are more interesting. Any comparison for Hackenberg? Is the Lynch -- Leaf comparison rooted in personality and maturity or athletic ability? Any idea what round Doughty is slotted to be drafted? Thanks.
  9. None of those comparisons, with the exception of Wentz to Roethlisberger, are anything designed to promote optimism.
  10. I am starting to come around to that assessment. However, my track record predicting pro success at qb is not generally good. Also, I have some deja vu with the EJ draft year. I looked at all the qbs and finally decided EJ was the one most worth a shot, though I had seen him make many bad, inaccurate throws. The difference, perhaps, is that Hackenberg really did play under extreme duress and without great playmakers the last two years.
  11. I read the Hockey Futures Board devoted to the Sabres. A mix of hockey knowledge, but the regular posters who seem insightful to me are relatively optimistic. My own sense matches their optimism, but as I live in Atlanta and only get to see a few games a year, I mostly rely on the opinions of those who see the team frequently. If you are talking 2020 to win a Cup, maybe I can see the outside date, though I think they will contend before that. Playoffs, as you note, is a relatively low bar. They will surely meet that soon, probably next year.
  12. I don't think you pay the cost to move up for anything other than someone you believe is a franchise qb. I would guess Buckner before Ramsey, btw, if it were for a non-qb.
  13. Lottery is April 30th. GMTM has done an excellent job with the rebuild. A strong off-season would set the Sabres up for a plausible run at the playoffs. Long shot is too pessimistic, imo.
  14. I think you mean Will Rogers, but funny, nonetheless.
  15. He seems like a curmudgeon. I don't recall that particular advocacy.
  16. There's a fellow with that handle who sometimes posts at billszone fanzone.
  17. I like Vernon Butler. Versatile, with a high motor. I was hoping he would slip to #49, but now I think you have to take him in the first.
  18. LOL. Goodell is going to suspend him eight games for that.
  19. LOL. Marty McFly is going to be pissed. Could very well be a smokescreen or a low probability, but funny juxtaposed against Back-to-the-Future's dismay.
  20. Ah, forgot to answer. I don't have a single favorite movie. I tend to break down favorites into categories. Dystopic sci-fi: Bladerunner Fun fantasy: Star Wars, though The Empire Strikes Back is better. Family: The Black Stallion Classic American: Casablanca Film Noir: Tie between The Big Sleep and The Third Man Screwball comedy: The Awful Truth Thriller Comedy: Charade Sentimental: I Remember Mama Baseball: The Natural Romantic Comedy: Roman Holiday Western: Stagecoach, Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Searchers (John Wayne is underrated as an actor.) Artsy American: Tree of Life And I like lots of foreign films: Wild Strawberries, Chungking Express, Babette's Feast . . .
  21. Coincidentally, Turner Classic Movies showed this a few days ago. It is really entertaining. You get my vote for most distracting avatar, btw.
  22. I suppose on balance a new stadium is probably needed. My sensibility is not at all populist, but when I read this kind of innuendo and suggestion from NFL fat cats, I do sorta want to tell them to shove it.
  23. I think the Pats* should lose another first round pick just for writing the letter. I don't think the NFL is going to lose the appeal, btw.
  24. When GMTM made the trade for Lehner, he got a lot of flack. Nowadays, the hockey boards are generally conceding that Lehner may work out well. In addition to Johnson, who I agree is worth keeping, Ullmark has potential. We just signed Jason Kasdorf to an entry level contract. I am actually not worried about goaltending. We need a top LHD and a couple of top six wingers. Let's see what Fasching and Baptiste bring to the table. Maybe Ennis gets healthy and can contribute. Who knows on that? We have plenty of ammo to trade in the off-season and one more top of the draft add. How nice if the lottery worked in our favor the year the draft is in Buffalo. Anyway, I agree the Sabres give one plenty of reason for optimism.
