  1. Yes, I stated I was ambivalent. I mainly prefer Allen to Rudolph. I would like the other qbs listed better than both. Rudolph is big, but his arm is just average. His decision making is not strong, imo. He benefits from a conference that generally does not play good defense and a wr corps with a number of future pros.
  2. I agree with your surmise and also the ranking of the qbs so you must be right If measurables outrank performance, Allen could go third. I am ambivalent about him, but I definitely would rather take a risk his accuracy improves over taking Rudolph, so I half expect Rudolph is the fella we end up with. As is, I am guessing Rosen and Darnold (if he comes out) are gone before we pick. I just don't see the Browns and Giants trading out.
  3. For all our bad luck with lotteries and the like, we got really lucky Middlestadt couldn't do a pull-up and apparently some GMs thought that meant bad at hockey.
  4. I was hoping Hue would be let go and we would scoop him up and get rid of Dennison
  5. I think a lot of folks are skeptical that Mayfield is 5'11", let alone 6'1." We'll find out at the combine.
  6. Yes, this makes sense. I hope they are smart enough to know this. Sony Michel should be available with a mid-round pick, btw
  7. Why don't they give Groy a shot? Didn't they just sign Wood to an extension or am I misremembering? For that matter, why is Vlad starting? Really don't like Dennison, Castillo, wonder if these fellas can evaluate properly. And they are set to hopefully draft and develop a franchise qb. Wish I had more confidence in them.
  8. That's a generalization. Maybe Darnold is set to be the apex. I think Rosen and Darnold are the best options out there and both can be very good.
  9. Yeah, I don't know how the Browns view Kizer. If they truly think he can develop into a franchise qb, they could trade out. If that pick is available and at the top of the draft, we better pony up the assets and go get it.
  10. I might not have been clear. Sorry to have been confusing. Certainly, one would need either SF or Chicago to lose out. Otherwise, Browns and Giants are locked into the first two picks. Yolo is convinced the Browns will trade the pick, but I can't believe even they are that stupid.
  11. My order of preference is Rosen/Darnold, Mayfield, Jackson, Allen. Folks I trust are not high on Allen, but he undoubtedly has arm talent you can't teach. Mayfield and Jackson are the fellas I think we have a reasonable shot at.
  12. Fella was talking about SF as a trade partner to move up. I mentioned Chicago as a trade partner because of Trubisky.
  13. Bears are also an option if they lose out. Browns, Giants still likely to be one, two, which means the odds of getting Rosen or Darnold are not high.
  14. Sabres didn't stand up for Miller and the team fell apart. Bills will have so much turnover next year, it probably doesn't matter, but it's not a good look.
  15. Rudolph does not have superb arm talent. It's okay. He also has several future pros in his wr corps and plays in a conference that doesn't play a lot of defense. I think he's very average. I targeted Rudolph early in the year as someone to watch and he just doesn't impress me. Fella that goes by Kirby Jackson posted an article outlining his strengths and weaknesses. I tried to search for it, but I'm not clever about that sort of thing. My order of preference is Rosen/Darnold, Mayfield, Jackson, Allen, Rudolph. If we pick him, I will of course hope he is the next Jim Kelly and that I am wrong about him.
  16. Ahh, I'm with the fella who thinks lb is more of an issue than folks are crediting. And please, OBD, look at Sony Michel in the middle rounds. He's your eventual replacement for Shady and a great #2 right out of the gate. But qb has to be the priority.
  17. Rudolph will be available late first, maybe even the second. You don't have to trade up to get him and I'd be disappointed if he was our pick.
  18. Yes, I think so, but it's hard to make a joke with qualifiers in it
  19. The rule is if you are Seattle or Tennessee a marginally forward pass is a lateral.
  20. Really? The turnover on this team is going to be large. Franchise qb is the fast-track key to winning culture. We need draft capital to make that happen.
  21. The best way to establish a winning culture is to get a franchise qb. Past 18 years are immaterial in terms of grabbing a top qb prospect. Does this draft class have enough qb talent to justify an early pick? If so, you need to move up and get a real qb.
  22. Someone who wins a Pyrrhic victory has been victorious in some way, though the heavy toll negates a true sense of achievement or profit.
  23. You might have to trade up to get Mayfield when all is said and done.
  24. I keep reading that Taylor and Dennison's offense aren't compatible. Others have also complained about the new blocking scheme which went away from the aggressive approach that yielded a generally more effective run game. Whatever accomodations were made for Tyrod, they didn't seem to consistently use read-option and roll outs, though we may have used them some. I personally just don't think Taylor is a quality starting qb. Regardless, I agree they would be happy to unload Taylor for a mid-round pick.
  25. Forced made some sense the EJ year when there really weren't first round grade qbs available. There will be some in 2018. Fortunately, our desperation and rational action are not antithetical under those conditions.
