  1. It was a strange decision. Tyrod had not played well the preceding game, but NP was clearly in over his head. I heard a rumor that Dennison was pushing for Peterman. No idea if true, but I have little confidence this crew knows what it is doing, especially with regards to the offensive side of the ball. I hope we have a new O-line coach and OC and qb . . . and a RT since DD will probably be playing LT and a real #2 rb . . . etc., etc.
  2. National media is clueless and often driven by political agendas. They seem to think Tyrod is an above average qb when he is actually a serviceable backup who can reach the heights of mediocrity on a good day.
  3. We clearly need a lot more than a franchise qb, but we won't be consistently good until we get one. While qb has to be the priority, one can find significant holes at nearly every position. The coaching staff has question marks and until the front office shows astute judgment in turning draft picks into superlative players to replace the talented players that did not fit the program (MD, Sammy, etc.) the GM is a question mark as well. I see this team as actually what one would expect from a veteran team of try hard fellas, especially in a down year for the AFC. I don't see a basis for confidence the team is close to being very good. They might, but all the question marks have to turn out well. I'd say the odds are against it, but what can one do? Have to hope for the best.
  4. OTOH, it's a special sort of pathetic that trolls folks on Christmas.
  5. And after that, the Patriots*** won a Super bowl and this year, they are getting all the calls (again.)
  6. Mercifully, after next week this issue probably goes the way of EJ criticism. On a good day, Tyrod is a mediocre qb. He makes a pretty good backup. We'll be moving on, but if you want to get upset about criticism, have fun while you can.
  7. It's not the game I remember as a child. It's not only that we know more about concussions, etc. and the violence is being selectively taken out. It feels corporate, managed, and dull. Rules are written that allow a catch to not be a catch, particularly if it benefits certain teams. When the populace begins to doubt the justice of the game, it is no longer a contest and becomes instead a largely predetermined spectacle.
  8. Right. Who would you rather be now, the 49ers with Jimmy G and a losing record or the Bills at .500 or 9 - 7, draft picks and Tyrod Taylor? All the folks in SF are happy. A great qb makes everyone better, but then again, Shannahan knows offense and we have Dennison and Castillo and a head coach that right now seems like Dick Jauron redux. (I'll give you Dennison is handicapped with very limited qb options.)
  9. Not really. NFL isn't hockey. Deserve, not deserve, I don't care. We are not very good in a league with few good teams. We're also old with a lot of marginal players. So far as I can see, we are playing Dick Jauron ball. Maybe it will change if we can find a real qb, but there are holes all over the team. Not sure how one could even imagine a plausible scenario where this team could go on a playoff run. (And I have nothing against folks who want to be optimistic and hope for such.)
  10. Browns and Giants probably take Rosen and Darnold right off the top. Don't be so certain two picks in the twenties plus gets you a stud qb.
  11. So funny that some folks were cheered to get rid of the oft injured Sammy for this fella.
  12. I am biased as I am an UGA fan, but I would love the Bills to draft Roquan Smith in the first and Sony Michel in the third if he falls that far. I think DL and OL will be FA priorities. QB, however, trumps everything else.
  13. I don't see Jackson listed as one of the qbs invited to play. I am unsure what their eligibility criteria is. As per Vick, I live in Atlanta and saw him play a lot in his prime. He had a cannon for an arm, just flicked a ball with velocity. Jackson does remind me of him, though I don't see any character concerns with Jackson. Some scouts seem to doubt Jackson is an NFL qb, but he sure appears to have a lot of talent to just dismiss as a prospect.
  14. Opinions on Jackson appear to be all over the map. His arm is plenty strong. I think he might be a "smart" Mike Vick. Some folks are dead set against a running qb, though. Anyway, not my first choice, but I would definitely consider him. I think he will be there without trading up, but he'll be a first rounder imo.
  15. Well, despising the Pats*** does not preclude hating Miami. Easy to strongly dislike the figures you mention, but Shula and Griese, even Marino were not objectionable the way Golden Boy and the Sith Lord are.
  16. Me, too, but no, more coal in the Christmas stocking.
  17. True, but back in the day, I remember thinking the Fish got a lot of calls because Shula was on the competition committee. Still, in retrospect, I did not loathe Miami the way I despise the Pats***. Even when we were 0 for the decade, we played the Fins close in a lot of games. I think we came closest to beating them their 17 - 0 season.
  18. I haven't really seen him play much. Not convinced Dennison is the guy to groom a qb, but I was pretty impressed.
  19. I'm not a Rudolph fan, but I am certainly not an expert. He's the fella I think could slip to the second round. I would take him there if I am still looking for a qb. Of course, if he is as good as you think, you take him in the first. To me, whenever I watched him, his judgment seemed questionable, his arm strength okay, but not equal to his stature, his wr corps has several future pros, and his conference plays poor defense, generally. OTOH, I like Mayfield who plays in the same conference.
  20. He does need a lot of work and I'm really not sure inaccuracy is all that correctable, though as some point out, there are extenuating circumstances that mitigate his flaws. I prefer Rosen, Darnold, and Mayfield. (Jackson and Allen have different question marks, but they both seem high risk/reward picks to me.) I expect Mayfield is the only fella we have a real shot at (of those I favor). If, however, we don't trade up for a qb, Mayfield is gone and Allen is sitting there, I'd be tempted to gamble. Just be prepared to sit him the first year and let him learn.
  21. Someone will take Allen in the first round.
  22. I can't argue with that. I loved TM's deadpan schtick, but it turns out he made a lot of terrible decisions.
  23. Yeah, this is assuming the Skins have no real leverage to force an expensive trade. I personally would not pay a king's ransom and I am ambivalent about Cousins, period.
  24. Right. If you sign Cousins, you use picks to build around him. I don't think he's as good as the price tag is likely to be, but he's certainly not a bridge qb.
  25. Monumentally stupid is in our wheelhouse.
