Per Shefty - Bills “expected to lose” Poyer and Edmunds
Dr. Who replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
I haven't thought about it for several reasons. 1) I expect he will clearly get an offer above what the Bills could reasonably match without significantly impeding efforts to spend free agent money to improve the offense, Even the low end of your scale is too much for the budget, though taken in isolation he would be worth 5/75M; 2) I believe you can get a veteran replacement with a somewhat different skill set at a better price point. I think they should target an edgier, "meaner" alternative. Sacrifice some coverage skills for grit. -

I don't see how this is a surprise. I don't believe it is an indictment on Tremaine. He can simply get more on the open market than what we can prudentially alot for his position. Poyer is great, but he's old with significant wear and tear. Cheaper replacements and more resources devoted to oline and offensive weapons is the right strategy. I'm hoping they follow through, whilst anticipating a pretty good chance they go D in the first . . . again. -
Awhile back I was pushing for Darnell Washington, though I was hoping to grab him in the second round. I think he will be an exceptional blocker and help solidify the oline. He would fill the role of TE#2. At 27, that is a pretty rich price. Kincaid and Mayer are more dangerous offensive weapons at the position who are plausibly available there as well. The problem is the value of the olinemen and wr might not be there at 27. This is probably a year to trade down and pick up another day two pick, but you can't count on a reasonable deal, so you better have a plan to make the pick. I personally hope it doesn't default to defense, though there's a decent chance that's where the value is. I can't afford to throw a brick at the telly, so I will probably go outside and yell at the clouds.

Is there any defensive player you'd be happy with at pick 27?

Another D dominant draft at the top is half way to Aloha on a steel guitar. -
Diggs unfollows Buffalo, follows Cowgirls 🤷♂️
Dr. Who replied to DaggersEOD's topic in The Stadium Wall
No kidding. Folks know now that Justin Jefferson is a great wr. They didn't know before the draft. No one did or he wouldn't have lasted until the late first round. Grow up. -

Good grief. The worst kind of "told you so" post. Diggs was instrumental in Josh Allen becoming Josh Allen. There are plenty of questionable choices made by Beane, but this isn't really one of them. They will work it out. Don't think Diggs is ready to retire and he ain't being traded. -
They are not the same old Sabres. The young core is very good. They likely hit on all three first rounders from 2022. Dahlin deserves consideration for the Norris. Power is playing great D for his age. Muel is having a down year, but I don't see him failing. The top line is dangerous. Even Skinner has become a player that is more than a sniper. Cozens has become a legit 2C. Quinn is going to be a star, imo. Krebs is that pesky bottom six player that irritates the opponent. The team needs an infusion of grit, some defensive D men, preferably RD, and improved goaltending. Levi might be the answer a few years out. They need to bring in someone to bridge that gap; and of course, Levi might not pan out -- I think he's special, though. Granato plays an offensive game, so there's a sense in which the D always pays the price for that strategy. They still need to be better. I would say they are a year ahead of schedule. I wish KA had made some available deals for this year, but I expect the Sabres to be a good team for years to come. Time to drop the cynicism, despite the awful performance last night.

Ottawa ends up with Chychrun for a price KA could easily have beat. It did not cost prospects. Really don't get the thinking here. Pretty exasperating.

He's just perpetually mad about shrinkage.

Stillman trade is still puzzling. I don't think he's ever been good, but apparently they think he fits our system. Was hoping for Chickenman, but AZ needs to drop their price. We'll see what happens as the deadline approaches. I'm not too unhappy with the lack of deals. So far, it looks to me like we might have hit on all three of our 2022 first rounders, so I'd be leary to include them in a trade. Levi signing and being the real deal will play a large part in the future being as fun as we all hope. (Yes, I know Levi will need at least eighteen months to two years to properly develop before he likely sees the NHL ice apart from a game or two looksee.)

Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR
Dr. Who replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope he's been studying offense enough to spend whatever free agent coin they free up and some early draft picks on that side of the ball. Start with the oline. -
Beane/McDermott Speak to the Media at Scouting Combine
Dr. Who replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh, I figure Antonio Johnson, the Texas A&M safety has already been sent the playbook. If they nickel and dime the offense yet again this offseason, no bueno. -

They better do more than bring in a new left guard if they want to give Allen the oline he deserves. I think TE is one of those positions that might be in play at 27. -

This is a thread about Leslie Frazier. There are plenty of others emphasizing strongly the need for a much better oline, an upgrade at WR#2, worrying if Dorsey is up for the job, hoping Josh gets right and returns to playing like he was in the playoffs against the Pats* and in the infamous 13 seconds game (granted, that level of superlative play is not sustainable over the course of a long season.) Anyway, boo Chief's fan, boo . . . jk, you're okay. -
Kelce is the focal point of KC's attack. He's the first option once Hill was traded and before that they were 1A and 1B. I'm not comparing Knox to Kelce because among other things, Andy Reid is a genius offensive mind who schemes players wide open. Kelce is in the conversation for best TE of all time. Knox, however, is better than his numbers. He was asked to support the sieve o-line for much of the year and Allen and our offense do not treat him as a primary option, or even secondary for that matter. I believe he could contribute much more based on his skill set.

So, I'm following Badolbilz' plan, ideally you'd grab a LT at 27 and kick Dawkins inside to guard. I'd be great with that if there were a potential starting LT worth taking when our turn in the first comes round. Is there such, because the best ones are going to be selected much earlier?

The Myth of the Bills over-focusing on defense in the Draft and FA
Dr. Who replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall
How is this disputable? Folks on the other side of the argument aren't paying sufficient attention. -
Von Miller's injury, and pass rush needs this offseason
Dr. Who replied to Yantha's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you go that route -- and I agree with who you cut and trade -- you'd better invest in free agent oline and maybe a WR#2, because you know McBeane is going to pick a safety up in the first three rounds as well. I don't know if we have the resources for all that, even with freed up money. -
I was more sanguine about the pick, one of the few actually who was happy with it at the time. I remember chatting with you before the draft. If your scenario had played out, of course, it would have been a disaster. I agree on Daniel Jones. I am a natural melancholic. The state of the world, my Church (I am Catholic), any number of factors often make it seem rather trivial to be so concerned with the Buffalo Bills, but then again, it is often a welcome distraction and this site has quite a few very well-informed posters that make it worthwhile. In any event, I am glad you are back and I hope Yolo is well.

Your voluntary vacation was a reaction to drafting "wrong" Josh. It was an overreaction, but folks have their own idiosyncratic criteria.

Used pretty much most of my limited technical ability to post that mock. You'd have to suppliment with FA. I'd like to sign at least one veteran OL in addition. I'm not clever enough to make trades on that site, so just chose from what was available.
-
I'm not an expert. @MrEpsYtown and @GunnerBill are the two fellas I pay attention to for oline analysis.

You'd have to change the kind of blocking scheme we have been employing for Torrence to be a system fit.
