  1. I was hoping we would sign him to replace Ryan.
  2. Agreed. I would not want to see him on this team for the league minimum.
  3. Losing Spikes matters, but if he is SO great, if he is THAT much of a superstar, where is he now? Why didn't he catch on somewhere? Having players like Dareus, etc. in pass coverage is the football equivalent of asking Babe Ruth to bunt on a consistent basis. Rex is the main problem on this team, not losing Spikes. Jmo.
  4. Did you read the entire post you answered? Or, are you trying to make some abstract point, or win a non-existent argument? Post #61 explains things pretty well imo.
  5. You are supposed to go after a 4th string inexperienced quarterback, not send excellent pass rushers out to cover so-so receivers.
  6. Sometimes even when he doesn't drop back, he is merely holding his ground. He doesn't pursue the quarterback in this stupid defense. Once in a while he jumps, as if to block a pass. You do see this, no? I cannot understand how a fan could not be outraged. Would people think it was normal if Richard Dent was covering receivers? Or Bruce Smith? The situation is freaky and has destroyed this team. PS: I do believe that he is dogging it. But Pegula will save 12 million if he is cut. It will cost more than 20 mil. to get rid of the biggest cause of failure, which is Rex.
  7. You sound like you are specifically talking about Whaley.
  8. Fear not. You will find out soon and on a regular basis as long as Rex is there to sink this team.
  9. I belong to a "normal" gym and I think that a high percentage of the people in there are juicing. When I was much younger, I used to do 20 clean marine pull-ups. I am talking all the way down. I have long arms so this and the bench were harder for me. The other day, I saw a guy doing SETS of 20 marine pull-ups with (2) 45 pound plates attached to his waist. I didn't count the sets but he did more than 6 or 7. He might have done 10. Then, he started lifting weights. Is this normal? Can one do this without enhancements? I never really believed that NFL players were not juicing. I looked up Mario Williams's combine numbers. The man did 35 reps with 225. I realize that these are some of the strongest men on earth but given his frame, this would not seem possible. And, I watched Cornelius Bennett in college (yes, sadly I am that old). He absolutely did NOT look anything like he did on the Bills, where his neck looked like a tree trunk. In my very uneducated opinion, NFL owners do want players to juice. They also have to pretend to be against it because of getting sued. There is WAY too much money at stake.
  10. This I cannot answer. Imo Rex is a fraud, a buffoon, and an embarrassment. Maybe he will take a buyout and be a TV announcer.
  11. Keep watching those all 22s. Watch the one for this game and see Corbin Bryant racing back and forth before the snap, as if he was "threatening" to rush the passer from the DT position. Of course, he was off balance and useless when the football was snapped. The whole premise of this type of formation was idiotic, even embarrassing as a fan. And the effort does suck. I don't excuse this but the players are obviously angry. I would be to if I weighed 340 or so and was jumping in the air and running backwards. Overall, I am unsure as to what you are getting at. Do you think Rex is NOT to blame for the team having more than 30 less sacks than last season? Are you satisfied with the pressure these players are applying? Do you enjoy watching men as big as Dareus and Bryant spinning, jumping, and running backwards? If so, this season must be making you one happy fellow!
  12. I saw this but remember, there was no pass rush. The Bills (Rex) could have easily lost this game. I am not saying that McKelvin is Mel Blount but he did his job pretty well today.
  13. Graham had 8 tackles and 3 assists. McKelvin caused the interception. Watch the game.
  14. 1) Graham was steady; he usually is. That said, I think that the top defender on the Bills today was McKelvin. This is a rare thing to type, but his hit set up the interception and he broke up a lot of passes. 2) Corbin Bryant played well today, even though he was frequently used in pass coverage. 3) I suppose Hogan has played himself off of the roster next season. He isn't totally awful, but there is no place in this league for a possession receiver with questionable hands. 4) Just before the half, the interception that Tyrod threw was dumb. The delay penalty by Watkins before that was dumb. The clock management was dumb. There is zero accountability on this team. Rex is a horror show. 5) The Bills netted 236 yds on the ground today. OK, Tyrod DID run for 67 yards. Still, Gillislee had 93 yds. and Karlos ran for 76. Those two also combined for 4 catches for 37 yards. Having a big, physical back made quite the difference. They didn't seem to miss Shady all that much. Just sayin..... 6) Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street. Chicago, New York, Detroit it's all on the same street. Your typical city involved in a typical daydream, Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings. Dallas - got a soft machine, Houston - too close to New Orleans. New York - got the ways and means, but just won't let you be. 7) Folks, I am sad to report that I cannot any longer defend Mario Williams. He looks weak and appears to be not trying at all. Believe me, it hurts to say this. He was a great player and I have a ton of respect for what he does off the field. 8) Tyrod Taylor has better vision on running plays than any qb I have seen as of late, and this includes Russell Wilson. Is Newton a better runner? I don't know but Tyrod kept us in the game with his legs today. 9) People should stop posting that the Bills DL only goes into coverage "about 5% of the time." That is simply not true. They are doing it constantly. It is pitiful to watch. 10) I am usually happier than this after a Bills win. The truth is that we were just a bit lucky to win this one, or so I think. 11) Watkins played very well today. It was good to see some shorter patterns mixed in, as crazy as that sounds. I believe he is a complete receiver, not just a deep threat and should be used accordingly. 12) No quarterback sacks today and not much pressure either. Sometimes it is hard to believe what I am watching. 13) I hope everyone here and your loved ones had a wonderful Christmas and or Chaunaka. 14) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Thank you for this post. You are right, imo Mario IS a special guy. From what I have read, he lives in Houston and hangs out with cops and correction officers. Houston was short on cash and Mario spent a great deal of money buying them police cars. How many people do something so cool? As a player, he is a freak. How many humans have a thin build, weigh 290, and are fast and as strong as a bull? The man was tremendous for years, now all of a sudden he sucks? Is that how this works? I think that Rex Ryan is a fraud and a buffoon. He destroyed any chance of success this team had, despite finally getting an adequate (at least) quarterback. With the talent on our defense, this was no easy task. I don't like what I have seen from Mario this season. It is disappointing but Mario Williams is NOT what is wrong with this football team. The biggest problem is the sub-par coach.
  16. I have been a fan of Marcel Dareus since the first time I saw him play at Alabama. That said, I advise you to be cautious in terms of your optimism. First of all, I question his motivation after his 100 million + dollar contract. Next, do you remember Big Sam Adams? Sam LOOKED like a nose tackle but was anything but. Same with Marcel. He is a penetrating lineman. Marcel will never play to his full potential tying up blockers. He is strong enough to push and get through. This is how he got double digit sacks last season and why he got the big bucks. The Mario situation is simply depressing. Sadly, I agree with you wrt Kyle. I deeply appreciate his effort and what he has done for this team, but it is not realistic (imo) to expect him to have a healthy season. And his salary while not bank breaking, is substantial. As for Hughes, the penalties do suck, but he got his money and it's clear that he still cares. He is really the only pass rusher we have under this loser defensive system. As I said in another post, my name for this defense is the "Jauronettes."
  17. So the fact that he offered contracts to both Byrd and Spiller means nothing? He tried to sign both of these guys. Pretending it didn't happen is one thing. But pretending these were players that he chose to let go is a bit much, no?
  18. Priceless!!!!! :) What, no mention of Whitner?
  19. Normally I would feel the same way as you but Rex is an utter disgrace. We went from having a great defense to one that totally sucks. The drop off was not due to injury. It was due to lies and idiocy.
  20. Quite the interesting post. My take as a life long Tide Fan is however different. The team that beat Notre Dame was just freaking loaded. The OL was SO good that the LG and RT were drafted at #10 and #11. Lacey, Yeldon and Amari Cooper were on the team as you know. From the opening kickoff I could watch the game in sheer joy and total relaxation. If the Bills ever get back to a superbowl, give me a game like that. I don't want to be scared, sitting there waiting for them to blow it. I don't want an exciting game. Pretty sad I suppose.
  21. Yep. Tyrod was the 3rd leading rushing QB in the league coming into the Redskin game according to the announcers.
  22. If we have the conversation in 2 or 3 years, will we bring up what McCoy did with the Eagles, or just with the Bills? Brother, I am NOT declaring Yeldon, as much as I like the kid, to be a HOF back. I also know that Pegula has cash, but there is still a salary cap. Money that could be used on different players. So, I think it is a fair comparison. Taking the above into account, I think Yeldon for 1 million is a better buy today than Shady for 10 million plus. Jmo, and thanks for the dialogue.
  23. I thought he would suck. I also thought Rob Johnson would be great.
  24. I know you don't post much, but allow me to say that imo, your screen name is in the top 20 of all time.
