  1. I appreciate the quality feedback from everyone, and I appreciate the well wishes. To provide a little background, I wasn't promoted to this position, but rather, I was an outside hire. I was contacted by a recruiter, as they were looking for a person with a big media background (I used to work for CBS for a couple of years), and digital advertising agency experience, preferably in a business development role. It just so happens that my background was an ideal fit for what they were looking for in a candidate. Additionally, they wanted the candidate to be positioned in Philadelphia. It's a big company based in Denver, built in the newspaper industry but transitioning to become more digitalyl focused. The digital arm of the company was only established two and a half years ago and operates like a start-up company, but has the resources behind it to ensure its success and has far exceeded sales forecasts for the first two years. It is a huge jump in compensation for me. I travel to Denver on Monday morning for a week of training. All of my travel is to be taken care of with the company credit card, so no money out of pocket for expenses and subsequent reimbursement. I won't be directly managing the 340+ reps. I will be working directly with the digital sales managers that are based out of their respective markets.
  2. Next week, I fly out to Denver to start training for a new Sales Manager position where I am responsible for the entire east coast and growing the territory with digital advertising services solutions that my company offers, along with managing the 340+ sales reps that lie within the territory. The position is a huge jump in responsibility for me, as I have primarily been on the business development and sales side of the profession. It is also a huge jump in terms of travel. I was told the position requires me to be on the road 80% of the time from Michigan, to Boston, to Tampa Bay and everywhere in between. I am curious if there are other managers here at TBD that can offer some insight as how to best prepare for a management position and best practices to managing people in different parts of the country. Additionally, I was curious if anyone can provide insight as how to best manage the high travel demands associated with the position.

  4. Harvin is good, but I think Tavon Austin will be better than him. I also think that Austin will be the first WR off the board. Not Patterson as everyone else is predicting.
  5. Nobody thought Tom Brady would be a franchise QB when he was drafted. The only way you can get a franchise guy is if you draft him. You're not going to find a franchise guy who is a FA retread. Matt Moore is not even a temporary one. The Bills need to bite the bullet, do their homework and draft a guy that fits their system, somewhere in the first 3 rounds. Holding out and biding time for the next great QB is probably what got us to this point anyways.
  6. Would love a Geno Smith with a trade up back in to the 1st for Tavon Austin. Pairing them with Stevie and CJ, would be a great core fore the Bills and provide a number of wrinkles for Marrone and co. to work with.
  7. By saying that he is a starter, isn't Nix giving McKelvin a bargaining chip for his FA re-signing negotiations?!
  8. Don't Landry and Byrd play the same Safety position?
  9. Why does it look like she is looking at a fly at the end of her nose?
  10. Are you guys doing anything for your ladies other than flowers? Dinner? Weekend away? Nothing?
  11. She looks pretty battle hardened for 31. And for the record, I wouldn't.
  12. I don't think there is any way Matt Barkley doesn't get drafted in the 1st round. That said Astro, I'd take Dysert because Barkley won't be there.
  13. Not so fast with this Tiger and Elin reconciliation: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2267128/Tiger-Woods-goes-gold-romance-Olympic-skier-Lindsey-Vonn-heats-up.html
  14. Apparently, Jerry Rice will weigh in on this on NFL Live.
  15. I like how they have pics of real people fraternizing in the concourses. I, personally, would've selected some women that weren't so heavy.

  17. The film I've watched is just what is available on Youtube, like the individual game breakdowns they have for each QB prospect. I am by no means a scout. This is all just general observation.
  18. I've watched film of the top QBs in this draft, and Dysert is the one who stood out the most to me. I wouldn't compare him to Big Ben because he is more mobile than he was. I would compare him to a more athletic Jim Kelly. He has tremendous touch on his deep balls and he has the ability to move effectively in the pocket and keep his eyes down field are a tremendous plus.
  19. I'm glad for Marc. He is a really good coach and could do some great things with that offense.
  20. This post should be pinned and added to, to include every player on the team and potential Free Agent targets. Thank you for taking the time to post this Matter!
  21. I have seen Aaron Rodgers throw off-balance, mid-hop, falling down, etc., with great degree of success. He is the exception...not the rule, but Nassib has a very awkward pocket presence about him that doesn't sit well with me.
