Drafting at 21 is certainly an advantage over Cleveland, Jets, and Denver when it comes to signing free agent QB's not named Cousins. Nobody wants to be the next Glennon.

Makes too much sense for Cleveland to trade for Tyrod. At some point they have to stop accumulating draft assets and try to win some games. Whichever QB they take at #1 has almost no chance to succeed this year. Taylor is the perfect guy and has perfect contract to bring them back to respectability before handing over the reins to Darnold or Allen.

Exactly. No decent free agent is coming here when the Bills are obviously interested in a 1st round QB without getting a crazy contract like Glennon. As much as most of want an upgrade over Taylor, the guy is respected in the locker room and under contract for another year at a reasonable number.

Because you have no idea how draft is gonna unfold and will have to pay any other decent Bridge QB option more than that.

They still pro-rated the bonus for salary cap purposes, but for cash purposes only spent what was left on the cap. So let's say this year the Bills are $30m under cap. Bills would've only doled out $30m in cash bonuses this year to sign players even though they might've had $40m in amortized bonuses in the cap number. It made no sense other than for cheap teams to invent a term to avoid telling their fans they were being cheap. Right up there with the Bills in Toronto series. The dark days of the franchise.

Who else uses it the way the Bills did? It was Wilson's way to gripe about non-shared revenue being used in salary cap formula even though his revenue sharing check was going up as much as the salary cap was. Cash to cap made no sense then and makes no sense now. Wilson was not backing out the non cash amortized bonus number in his 'cash to cap' strategy. He simply took the available cap number which included non cash amortized bonuses and said I'm not writing checks for bonuses more than the available cap number to sign players, with no regard to the fact that his revenue sharing check from the NFL was going up every year.

I agree with this, and if Jets are leaking they'll pay him whatever he wants, they know he's not signing with them and want to drive his price up for team who does. Just like all these rumors about Bills moving up in draft. Makes a team like Jets think they have to move up to get their guy.

You think he's gonna get more than 4 years of no playoffs in New York? Bowles is coming off back-to-back 5-11 seasons following choking away a playoff bid to Rex's Bills. He's gone if they don't make playoffs.

Jets fans will burn down MetLife stadium if Bowles survives another year without making playoffs. Not an ideal situation for a guy who supposedly has a lot of options. I'd take Cousins if he signs for something in Garropolo's ballpark. $28m per year. You're not getting a decent starter on free agency market under $20m per year. Cost to move up in draft will be prohibitive. I'll take above average QB play from Cousins plus all my draft picks over gambling as much as three 1st round picks on potential greatness.

Unless I had a really good reason not to go, I'd go if I got the invite. It's an honor to be one of the guys who gets invited to the draft. Seems kind of early in the process and somewhat presumptuous to be saying you're not attending the draft.

I think best situation for Tyrod is Cleveland. They need to learn to walk before they can run. Tyrod doesn't turn it over, can make some plays, and is a positive in the locker room. He'd be perfect Bridge QB for them. I think McCarron will have more suitors and get more money than Tyrod in open market.

Fair enough but is Jackson the only coach he can play for? Unless McCarron plays like Brady, Jackson will have a hard time not playing the #1 overall pick next year and will absolutely have to play him in 2019.

Why would McCarron go to Cleveland? Unless he's the League MVP next year or happy being a backup, he'll be playing for a new team in a year. Can see the win-now teams like Denver and maybe Jax going after him if they miss out on Cousins or don't want to pay his price tag.

I love Eli and can see the comparisons to Rosen, but think Rosen has the potential to be a more dominant QB than Eli. Rosen is a better passer than Eli.

Obviously this trade is just a rumor right now, but it would make sense for this trade to happen sooner rather than later. Will be tough for Giants to target free agents if there is a real possibility they pick a QB at #2 and move on from Eli.

Maybe the worm has finally started to turn for this franchise. Playoff drought over, now things lining up nicely for a tradeup. If Denver does get Cousins, really only leaves Jets and Arizona as competition for the 2nd QB in draft. Giants will not trade #2 to the Jets under any scenario. Bills have a lot more trade capital than Arizona, are in a different conference, and have good relationship with Giants Front Office.

If Rosen is being leaked as target, real target is probably Darnold. Even though he played at USC, he seems more a culture fit in Buffalo than Rosen. Rosen checks more boxes during the scouting process, but Darnold is the guy you want to go to battle with. I'd be happy with either of them, but I think Darnold is a guy you win with for a long time. Rosen has higher upside but also seems like the type who could retire in 5 years.

Because their owner had a serious case of man-love for RG3. Shanahan preferred Cousins. Shanahan got canned, Front Office reluctantly let go of RG3 after 3 years of showing he couldn't play, then low-balled Cousins after 4 years of openly rooting for RG3 to win the job. Not many QB's would've performed as well as Cousins under those circumstances.

The going rate for QB's is what it is. We'd be foolish to not go after Cousins considering where we are drafting.

I fully understand that paying the guy $23m under the franchise tag to make him prove it for more than 5 games before making him the highest paid player in the game is now considered a slap in the face.

That's some funny stuff. The guy with 7 starts under his belt could've squeezed the 49ers harder than becoming the highest paid player in the NFL. Guy should retire already. Not much more to prove.

That's possible but I don't think it's likely. Trading ahead of Arizona at 15 is only gonna cost you a 2nd rounder and probably gets you your pick if Mayfield, Allen, and Jackson if you feel a lot stronger about 1 of those 3. If Denver gets Cousins, then #5 is where you'd have to trade up for whichever of Darnold/Rosen Cleveland doesn't take.
