It could be a complete coincidence that Biden is at the helm when Putin chose this massive invasion. That it happened on the watch of a political lifer, whose tendencies are well-studied, well-known and well-established cannot be discounted. That Biden is on record as wanting to destroy the fossil fuel industry, and is out marketing the Putin Price Hike while seizing on the opportunity to pimp electric vehicles is a consideration as well. Is the invasion of Ukraine really a bad thing for his agenda? Frankly, when considering his threat to withhold badly needed aid to Ukraine as VP if the government did not bend to his will immediately makes you wonder how concerned he really is about the people in Ukraine at least as it impacts his agenda. This issue will tied to him like a stone, as it should be, and as he would do to his opponent.

Ugh, enough with the legacy politicians. Cheney will be incredibly popular with the Dems until she’s no longer necessary, at which point a story will break that she had farm-style relations with some old guy who’s kids she babysat when she was 15. Then again maybe she can be part of the über-unifying Liz/Hunter ticket with Chelsea Clinton as Sec State, Jenna Bush as press secretary with Sasha and Malika as jr Senators from Massachusetts.

That’s the beauty of “I understood someone to say ________”. We call that a rumor in the real world, and very little good comes from such things unless you’re a Real Housewife of Atlanta. We learn this by age 7 or so, but suspend the rules for political issues.

And you have every right to respect the hell out of the woman you likely didn’t know existed until yesterday, Mup, it’s just a very tall ask in this setting to expect non-like-minded people to do the same. On your thoughts with THIS committee and this hearing, again, it’s an unreasonable request. It’s a political committee, nothing more, nothing less. The wisest course of action for anyone on the opposite side of a tribunal of this nature is to refuse to cooperate to the extent possible, and to decline to answer questions when it’s not possible. It doesn’t change if you have nothing to everything to hide. Btw, on the larger issue of “if you have nothing to hide…” I’ve been blessed with some good friends who know and work around law enforcement and litigation. The general guidance I have been given is this: If you’re approached as witness to an event that did not involve you in any way, shape or form, theres generally no downside in providing a statement. If you’re on the periphery of anything beyond that, know your rights, exercise them and seek out professional counsel. Most importantly, avoid the natural tendency to explain everything in great detail. Truth and justice are sadly quite malleable, Mup, and it’s your best interest to consider the agenda of those asking the question. I’ll take your advice on the avatar and think about it. I thought about going buck wild and changing to an S, but I was concerned folks would think I’m getting all fancy and the like. Remember these words that everyone knows to be true until they’re riled up politically and want to accuse others of being part of a cult or mongrel zombie horde: Politics make strange bedfellows.

I think she plays on a different field than the rest of us, Mup, and I have no idea what she gains or loses here. Perhaps she has legal or financial issues and is being squeezed, or a family member is up for a government contract. I think the declaration that she’s respected, honorable, truthful or anything else is interesting due to the fact that before yesterday, the vast majority of the American public had no idea who she is. Next up,of course, is “she seemed credible”, for saying she heard a rumor. There’s no Easter Bunny here, no benefit of the doubt, no requirement that people view things objectively because the committee or this previously unknown person is pure of heart. Silliness of content—I heard from a friend who heard from a friend, Trump grabbing the wheel of the presidential Fiat, Trump was completely unconcerned about guns—can be called out as silliness whether she’s under oath or not. Liz Cheney, btw, is alleging, without evidence as they sometimes say, “witness tampering”. The downside is she’s lying or fails to prove it? Nothing. You say “bring it on”, the fact that it’s been on since 2015. Time after time, the one common denominator has been political maneuvering and allegations of everything from urine-play to chicken nuggets thrown at the wall to now, guns at rallies because obviously 100% of the attendees were vetted as 100% supporters of Trump, a guy averaging at one point 6-8 death threats per day. Meanwhile, the rule of law crowd lasted until last week, when suddenly calls for violence, ignoring the rule of and hateful rhetoric rule the day. I’ll pass.

Exactly as I suggested above. We’ll say it was your idea. I’m skipping ahead a bit, but when what happened here today clicks for you—and I’m confident it is not entirely impossible that you one day you will think for yourself and learn, I wouldn’t be offended if you played this at PPP graduation:

No, but you may see things differently as is your right in this fine country. I mean you've come out hot with "Hey move to Russia!" and that's pretty powerful stuff. Now that we have the move to Russia and loser thing out on the table, what's the status on the criminal charges against Trump, the ones that you seem completely obsessed with and have assured us are forthcoming? Or is everyone in Washington still in on the grand conspiracy?

The seriousness of the allegation is where the magic happens. Remember, it's not that long ago that a ginned up allegation of collusion resulted in a ginned up allegation of obstruction and both lead to nothing. That nothing was something debated regardless of which side of the debate you were on. As everyone knows, something isn't nothing, usually, but if that something ends up actually being nothing, that's something altogether different. Our differences, Doc, binds us. I am surprised I have to tell you this.

He also should read up on laws dealing with the disposition of one’s estate. By the way, on the deadbeat dad issue. I used to think I knew the story until a friend of mine found out his wife was cheating on him, and she subsequently wanted a divorce. The guy is a good dude, with a good job, and a good father. He didn’t want a divorce. We got to taking one day about a father’s obligation, and he told me that in his case, his obligation was based on his gross pay, that is to say, in part on money he simply did not have. Of course, the government takes its non-negotiable cut before anything happens, and in his case, and as a result he was left with very little to live on. His opinion was that more than a few “deadbeats” are victims of a system based on unreasonable demand unmanageable calculations. This matter is now officially closed. Later skater.
