I got that part. It’s propaganda-free, Putin TV. It seem to fall into your “they are less liarly liars” category. 🤣 We can add that to the list of issues our friends on the left don’t really like to talk about. It’s quite lengthy, that list.

I think you're struggling with a perception issue as it relates to my thoughts on Carlson v those you refer to as "all journalists". First, TC isn't a journalist, he's a talk show host. My expectations in that realm, be it TC, Rachel Maddow, any number of PBS hosts and/or radio personalities, isn't all that high. I don't expect much, don't listen much, don't really care all that much. There was a time when I listened more, but it all sorta seems pointless to me these days. On the other hand, journalists--supposedly fiercely independent seekers or truth---I expect they'll run a fair game and call things straight, or did before I realized they simply cannot be trusted to do that. I think most have become activists for a cause, relying on the age-old adage that democracy dies in darkness. Simply put...there are too many miscues, too much circular reporting, too much deciding on what news should be shared v what should be kept from view, and a whole dose of reporting from sources deep within and highly placed anonymous sourcing that turns out to be flatly and irrefutably wrong. As for being being disingenuous, brother, you're linking Russian State TV as a credible source of information. I can't keep up with you chicken hawks...Putin is controlling Trump, Trump is in Putin's pocket, Putin waited to launch his invasion of Ukraine under Biden because Trump was once President, and now "Gee Look Putin TV speaks The Truth!". Meanwhile, you employ the strategy that your liars are better than my liars when it comes to politicians and democrats. That's fine, it just reveals that politically, you're pretty much full of &^%$. You want what you want, ignore the warts that come along with getting what you want---and your bias--known or unknown---drives you to hypocrisy. It happens. On at least one day, he thought his son died in Iraq. That's a pretty big miss, and the sort of thing usually associated with dementia or Alzheimers. While I'm no fan of Biden, that's a pretty sad thing to see happen to a man.

The effectiveness of (sometimes) false narratives are why he’s paid so well to do what he does. There is precious little purely truthful reporting in the world, and it’s up to each individual to weed through it. It’s the way it always has been. As for stolen elections, it helps to be pragmatic. There are other threads for the deep dive into American politics, but after decades of allegations of voter suppression, racism when the subject of voter ID is raised, appeals to the SC over hanging/dimpled chads, allegations of war for oil that suddenly disappear after an election, and literal false claims about Trump being elected illegitimately/elected in a coup/treason afoot, it really seems odd to focus on a TV talk show host that the overwhelming majority of Americans do not watch. As I’ve said before, there’s likely no “Stop the Steal” appealing to emotional R voters if “Russia” wasn’t so gosh darn effective at appealing to emotional D voters.

In fairness, though, you’re linking to Russian State television as a reliable source of data, and I haven’t seen one person defending TC as an unimpeachable purveyor of truth. That begs the question—what’s your personal standard on comments about the truth? What is it that compels you to comment specifically about TC, v politicians who lie or craft false narratives to influence others? I don’t watch TC, and recognize the bombastic nature of his program. I personally don’t see a big difference between what he does, and some of MSM outlets or networks news. You have to weed through the language used, consider the agenda, and consider what info might have been left out to shade the story. Much ado about nothing, really.

Russia Was Not a Democratic Hoax
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to WEATHER DOT COM's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Or if she had engaged and conspired with a rogue foreign national to spread disinformation about Trump and his campaign in an attempt to influence the outcome of the election. 🤔 -
It seems like an awful heavy lift to take limited information and speculate as to the potential criminal activity of another, especially given the complicating factor that Washington, DC is like no other place on earth. Who knows what complaints may have been lodged against Biden previously, who might be squeezing him to step forward, or what complicating factors might enter into this? It's especially difficult to project if you are a person who follows normal societal rules, pay taxes on time, puts in an honest day's work and avoids HR issues and the appearance of impropriety, that sort of thing. What we know is that Joe Biden isn't that guy--he says horribly inappropriate things, has been credibly accused of assault and groping, worked the Ukranian's over when his son had deep ties to the government, and seems to like getting a piece of the actions when folks use his name for their gain. The bigger question is why a guy would consistently and regularly completely disregard the laws of the land and tenets of common sense to treat national security issues like a half-used can of Turtle Wax. To see it happen over several decades, presumably with different administrative/legal staff over the years, certainly leads to the conclusion that he simply didn't think the rules that he bloviated about applied to him.

The problem is when you dig a bit deeper than what the conventional wisdom suggests that “everyone knows this!”, it exposes one to the reality that they may have been manipulated or duped. It’s tough to admit that. In this case, “everyone knows” the Russians wanted Trump and Trump worked with them, and people think they came to that conclusion on their own. Meanwhile, Clinton/DNC conspires with a foreign agent to spread information that directly impacts the election and it doesn’t bother them in the least. IMO, hard-hitting factual political journalism probably never truly existed. There’s likely alway been an element of tilting the scale one way or the other, and that’s before we even deal with the reality that the free press is actually a corporate press often answering to shareholders, managers, owners and advertisers looking to shade things a certain way. One thing is certain—if you went back to 2016 and said “Looking forward, in the next 7 years, the govt will spy on citizens, unmask citizens, violate FISA protocol, send heavily armed officers to raid the homes of political rivals, spend 4 years messing around with a preposterous story about Russians, and have supporters believe tales of slippage when speaking about their leaders are illegally secreting away classified/top secret documents that they literally just declared was a threat to national security”….the tolerant and forward thinking left would have declared Trump would be behind it all. It’s not so much a slow slide to these folks losing sense of ethical and moral guidelines moving toward authoritarian rule as it is they dropped them completely off a cliff.

In the calm light of day, the Steele dossier was pure propaganda, an elaborate tale with roots directly to the DNC and Clinton. Those is dem leadership, the IC, and media members with sources deep within knew this. Mueller would have known this early on. It was allowed to hang around because people who thought “Trump sucked” wanted it to be true, like virtually everything else associated with the Russia story. It helped shape the overall narrative, as did comments like those from Adam Schiff and his role as chief propagandist of the party. As you said earlier, there aren’t really any penalties for lying on tv, and people can be incredibly gullible. We simply need to add it to the scrap heap of other such stories and recognize people believe such stories because they want it to be true. That’s why they work, the latest of which was “Trump had classified info first time evaaahhhh…” when all we really have to do is look in garages and storage boxes of former officials.

Random Interesting Charts/Pictures of various things
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Big Turk's topic in Off the Wall
Real nice man, I click on the link knowing there has to be a naked woman chart and all I get is some Van Gogh Playboy mash up. You stink. -
I’m uncertain as to what You Tubes terms of service are, it’s weird that it would be taken down. There’s nothing all that crazy about it, a guy allegedly from Pfizer talking about virus and profit. Here’s a link to the video. https://www.projectveritas.com/news/pfizer-executive-mutate-covid-via-directed-evolution-for-company-to-continue/

What are your thoughts on the video? I’m old school, and it seems to me the story is important one way or the other. COVID changed the world overnight. If it’s a hoax video, let’s hear about that. If it’s legit let’s explore it. As of last night seemed the major media outlets were disinterested. Newsweek ran a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng story and came to the conclusion it could not yet be verified.

Don’t overthink this stuff. The set up was funny, delivery quite good. The size of the photo enhanced everything. To be fair though, I found the first Austin Powers movie hysterical. As for fear of the mob, I’d probably go more with concern than fear. Lately, we watched those knuckle draggers in the Capital, anarchists torching cities assaulting/killing people, destruction of property and more. These are crazy times, but let’s not let kitty pictures and good old ball busting tear us asunder.

See, there you go, L’Ron. You were a bit suspicious, but the videos cleared it up. I wasn’t suspicious per se, but it was a strange fact pattern and questions naturally follow. On the other hand, we had lots of folks buying the notion of a James Bond type ex-MI6 and Russian hookers urinating on beds, two assailants tying shoe laces around Jussie Smollette’s neck and stealing his Taco Bell, and so so many more.
-
Those are fair points on the ghoulish nature of the video, but that’s secondary to my point about this particular video: If the standard is to release, follow the standard and release. If the standard is to withhold, withhold. Making the $&@& up as they go would be grossly unfair to those who had their video(s) released, and gives the appearance that the pain of some folks is worth more than others. Btw, at the risk of sounding insensitive, I would bet comments made by Nancy Pelosi on issues involving release of body cameras in political motivated situations (namely involving police officers) would trend toward “release the tapes the people have a right to see them!” . Just a hunch.

Settle down Red. Seems you're angling for a fight when there's none to be found with me. The question about whether or not the video was withheld is fair to discuss, and it seems pretty simple to me. I said that upthread. If they generally withhold video for the reasons you offered above, it's easy enough to say that they were following procedure. That ends the conversation for me, and what happened to Paul Pelosi is still horrific. If they generally release video, but chose not to do so in this case (political patronage, special treatment for special people, whatever), it's fair to ask why public servants extend courtesy to this family and not others victimized in a similar fashion. In that case, what happened to Paul Pelosi is still horrific. Btw, I know many elderly people, and it seems reasonable that the same amount of respect for people across the board be extended. If it was, it was.
-
This doesn't change anything for me, other than to wonder why they withheld the footage if the normal course of action is to release. My first question is why Pelosi wouldn't signal he was in danger, or attempt to run, pull away etc. On the other hand, he's an old timer and it looked like the assailant had a pretty good grip on this wrist. He called the cops, one way or the other, so there is that. Assuming the guy broke in, who the frig knows what thoughts the victim has in the moment? We just heard about a young lady in Idaho traumatized to the point that she locked herself in her room for several hours after some really unusual circumstances in the apartment she lived in. The attack itself is gruesome, and any way you slice it, Pelosi is the victim here.

Who--the media? NBC? Jesse Kelly? Everyone? I view this as pretty simple. If the body camera footage is normally released in a timely manner on this sort of thing, it should be released. That it was not would be cause for concern. If body camera footage is not normally released, the standard has been set and followed and it is what it is. If body camera footage is released and shows what was widely reported (by sites other than NBC news), great. If body camera footage is released and shows a manipulation of the fact pattern to promote the theory of an outcome other than was accurate, that's problematic but probably unsurprising. I guess we'll see, maybe.

“Suffer” is a strong word here, especially in light of some of the trauma people go through in life. I try to be a realist, and while I’m not always successful at separating fact from fiction, I do try. I think the argument is silly, and while I recognize the fact that the use of natural gas is not 100% “safe” by all measures, nothing ever is. In my case, installing the fireplace has reduced our overall consumption dramatically. I like that. I think some people and organizations use fear as a tool to bludgeon people into submission. I think technology can be a good thing and if the next generation has the option of completely environmentally friendly heating/cooling and we see a major reduction in climate hypocrisy by those leading the charge for me to sit by a plant light pretending it’s a roaring fire, that’s ok by me. In the meantime, it’s cold outside and I’ll click the remote and be grateful for the smart folks who came up with safe click-to-flame technology.
