I can agree with your point on Trump v Biden, but that ignores the much, much larger point to be made here with respect to Biden. Biden has had “major flaws” for nearly 50 years and has been selected over and over to represent the Democrat party for most of those 50 years. If you’re a Democrat, his major flaws were of no major concern. We know this because of his 50 year career. To paraphrase Colonel Jessup from “A Few Good Men”….while some may find him grotesque, the truth is deep down, in places where you don’t talk about it, you wanted him on that wall, in fact, you needed him on that wall. One does not accidentally back into positions of great power in the US Senate, the Vice Presidency and ultimately the Presidency with “major flaws” unless on the whole, your people were down with the whole ride. It wasn’t the “lesser of two evils” that got Biden into the WH, it was a comfort level with who he is, what he offered and what he delivered past and present. Attempting to recast it as “Gosh, what could we really do???” is weak and completely disingenuous.

Sure, I already suggested as much. You’re responding to comments that deal with a separate issue. @Andy1 agreed with my assessment that Biden had serious, substantive issues with lying and misrepresentation and suggested Republican leadership follow the Dem leadership model of dealing with Biden. I simply outlined what exactly that model is, and I’m thinking he doesn’t want that at all.

Well, not really, Andy. You’re mixing up the players in the game. Senator Biden was outed by the media and rejected for the promotion to higher office, this part is true. However, he remained a fixture Democrat politics in the Senate, helping to guide the party for decades to come. Later, you may recall, his loyalty to the party was rewarded with the Vice-Presidency in spite of allegations of sexual assault to go with the frequent lies and deception he was guilty of. Of course, we know the political end game for Joe Biden as it relates to his lies and deceptions and the Democrats—-the pinnacle of power and the Presidency of the United States. I accept your acknowledgement of the wisdom of my post, and certainly appreciate the kind thoughts. If you’re an honest man, and you strike me as such, if the GOP follows the Democrat Biden Model as you have suggested, his future is quite bright indeed.

Just catching up on this post. It seems to me you’re confusing patriotism with blind loyalty. When a president or party has an agenda that one thinks is detrimental or harmful to the country, it’s perfectly rational and patriotic to hope that the agenda fails. At the same time, acceptance of the will of the people is paramount to a patriotic citizen in spite of feelings about agenda.

@B-Man advised you to do a bit of research, and I’ll limit my heavy lifting to this gem. https://imgflip.com/gif/4871ls Btw, this is one of my favorite media clips ever. Biden once had a certain charisma that made voters want to believe him. Most people know a guy like Joe Biden, quick wit, willing to say whatever came to mind to get a laugh but maybe a bit sensitive to questions about things he says or does. The arrogance displayed in this clip is hysterical because he really seems convinced that everything he said was completely true, and his complete douchesness is hysterical in context.

Deflecting?🤣 He got bounced out of a couple presidential races for lying about his education when people cared about such things. He was a national laughingstock. He’s made multiple false statements about his background, the jobs he’s held and so so much more. Santos is a speck on the political windshield who probably will get what’s coming his way for spinning his yarns. Folks elected Joe Biden leader of the free world in spite of his long, established history of making up stories and taking great creative license with his resume. You may like his lies better, or his agenda suits your needs better than someone like Santos’ might, but these are not new or novel concepts about Joe Biden.

Joe Biden…. Schooling, check. Finances, check. Background, check. Occupation, check. Again, if he follows the Biden model, he does a little time in the morality sin bin and this guy just might be President one day. Maybe not Joe Biden’s parents, because somewhere along the line Joe realized in politics, it’s not so much about degrees of lying, it’s that people will rationalize their support with a “degrees of lying” argument without fail.

@ChiGoose speculated the other day that Committee Chair Thompson may have taken his foot off the gas on finding the truth (the truth truth) in deference to Liz Cheney and her desire to protect other GOP representatives in all this. That doesn’t make much sense to me, 1/6 was a stain on our Nation and it makes e very little sense that after hand-picking the Rs that would participate on the committee he would somehow cave and allow co-conspirators to skate. One would think the American people would be outraged by such behavior. Could it be a quid pro quo between D and R factions was agreed to? It’s never made sense that Trump would have anything to do with securing the Capitol as he was heading out the door. Was Chairman Thompson protecting Nancy Pelosi?

I’m going to be outraged about something one way or the other, I can assure you of that. It might has well be about Chris Sims and his lactose intolerant bs. -
And he was branded a crazy warmonger by dems and left-leaning folks when it was fashionable. Now, a man once reviled by the left for aggressive posturing and deceiving the American people/press/politicians is a beacon of truth. He's entered Cheneyesque territory. https://www.vox.com/world/2018/3/22/17153338/john-bolton-national-security-adviser-trump-hr-mcmaster Bolton has said the United States should declare war on both North Korea and Iran. He was credibly accused of manipulating US intelligence on weapons of mass destruction prior to the Iraq War and of abusive treatment of his subordinates. He once “joked” about knocking 10 stories off the UN building in New York. That means his new appointment to be the most important national security official in the White House has significant — and frightening — implications for Trump’s approach to the world.

What’s amazing to me is that some people think this type of logical, reasoned and fact-based analysis represents a defense of Putin and/or some version of extremist ideology. There are countless examples of the government/media skewing the narrative about what is/isn’t true, including for many, the “WMDs in Iraq” saga. HB laptop is another example. What makes it comical is the exact same people who are perpetually distrustful of the Trump/Rep admin, and who would cite the lunacy of Fox News, NY Post and other outlets lack any sort of pocket presence when it comes to offerings by outlets like WaPo and NYT. The point is that the same people rolling their eyes about a thread entitled “The American Media Should Not Be Trusted” would sign on immediately to “The American Media Should Not Be Trusted” if you simply focus on a different outlet. Spot on post, Ja. -

I will need my own room, of course, and internet access with a large screen is a must. If you have to loot to supply these things, I encourage you to do so but understand I'll be trash-talking you here on the PPP page devoted to that sort of thing. Circle of life, you know, that sort of thing. BTW, if you ever bought a newspaper, visited a news site on line, or bought a Playboy for "the articles", you're way dumber than me. -
If the allegation is he committed fraud, that should be investigated on its merits and handled accordingly. Following the arc of other scenarios where criminality is discussed, we would want to revisit the issue in 2-4 years. I don’t know anything about that, but I have listened to all sorts of tall tales behind told by politicians seeking office or seeking to hold office and there seems to be little appetite for criminal investigations. Truth be told, the only people who seem to care are the ones from the opposing party. Now, as I begin to consider what my team might look like as I begin my political career, I am going to reach out to @muppy to join my team in some high level role. I want to capture the female vote, and with some of the aesthetic challenges I face, I need a smart and principled individual to offset the homeliness, lies and half-truths I am sure to deliver. Mup…what say you?

Tibs is apparently a pro-liar-until-he’s-anti-liar liberal. I don’t have the political savvy of an @Irv, but I really think a platform of lying at the right time, to the right people, for the right reasons will resonate with the masses. I’ve come up with a slogan all on my own: What a mess! The ugly cousin to Whataboutism is Idontwanttotalkabouthatism. My apology was insincere—I did it for the votes! That’s where the magic happens.

It wasn’t my contention, Chi, it was yours. You said the rumor was that “Cheney didn’t want to go hard after GOPers”. What “fairly mundane” actions by GOPers would result in the 1/6 committee “going hard” after anyone? No parking pass displayed in the Congressional lot? Leaving dirty dishes in the Congressional sink? That notion in an of itself reeks of political shenanigans. Why would Thompson want to pursue mundane issues to begin with? Silly internal squabbles would just detract from the work of the committee. We were told this work was vitally important, and that this went beyond Dem and Rep politics and what mattered was the truth. Liz Cheney has been anything but a shrinking violet here, now you seem to be suggesting that failure to acquiesce to her demands might have caused her to fracture the work of the committee? Would she sell out the truth in exchange for political leverage, or even threaten to do so? I’m still confused by what’s in this for Thompson if the truth was his goal. He easily could have outed Cheney if she was strong arming him. If, as you suggest, the political committee acted politically to protect some members of Congress while targeting others, the entire body of work is suspect. What an interesting turn of events.

She may be the face I can't forget A trace of pleasure or regret May be my treasure or the price I have to pay She may be the song that summer sings May be the chill that autumn brings May be a hundred different things Within the measure of a day She may be the beauty or the beast May be the famine or the feast May turn each day into a Heaven or a Hell She may be the mirror of my dreams A smile reflected in a stream She may not be what she may seem Inside her shell
