Bwahaha...are you kidding me? So many inaccuracies here I don't know where to start. FIrst off, he's 6.3 217. secondly, he DOES NOT Have a shotput release. He has a GREAT release. Wyche said he had the best release of all the QB prospects in the draft. RIVERS has a shotput style. Get it right. -

I must have missed something on the board this week. -
We've seen Bledsoe's ceiling. This season was as good as he gets. And that's not good enough. He actually had a "career season" this year, folks. His rating was right on his career average. His completion percentage was too. His TD-INT numbers were within 5 of each other again. If Bledsoe wasn't such a good guy, he'd be widely considered to be the most overrated quarterback of all time. The most important aspect of drew's game is that he's completely unable to hoist the team on his shoulders and win a big game against a tough defense. When was the last time Drew beat a top 5 defense in a big game, and played a key factor in that win? It was several years ago, in New England. Drew has not only hit the wall, he has backed up and run into it at least 3 more times since first impact. There is no way in hell that, with the investment we have in Losman, this team SHOULD put Drew in control again. If he wants a paycut to hold the clipboard and help Losman develop, fine. Otherwise, I'd rather he be traded...even if its for a lowly 4th round pick. Drew's value has dried up on Buffalo's watch. Belichick saw it coming, and he was right again. There's no way in HELL that drew is worth the 5 million he's slated to get next season. That number will make it unlikely that we could ship him off to the Parcells for a mid round pick. He'd have to restructure AGAIN, or be cut. There are fans out there who seem blind to the truth. They'll point to 9 wins and say hey, that's a big improvement. No, it's not. We played 2 games against defeated, humiliated teams with no playoff shot and NO HEAD COACH. We beat one of them (the Browns) DESPITE Drew's performance. GO back and look at his numbers. He played like crap and we still won thanks to our D. Drew does not have the ability to pull this team up, to elevate them by his play. If he was able to, he would have. Instead, our D and ST pulled our team up. It's time for JP, even if he's not ready. It'll do more for the team's confidence than any other move, and that's evident after hearing Moulds' comments. The Bledsoe era in Buffalo is over. It has to be. If it's not, then I've overrated One Bills Drive and our coaches. But I don't believe that. I believe they realize the situation we're in, and I believe we'll be saying goodbye to Drew at some point in the offseason. This will free up all his $, and with Moulds' restructuring, we'll be able to afford a backup QB who fits this offense better.

what you were offered probably wasn't the real thing. you can make a drink look chartreuse but that doesn't make it absinthe. the key ingredient is wormwood extract, which has an alkaloid called thujone in it. Thujone in small quantities does little. Thujone in medium quantities gives an extra pensive levity to your buzz. Lots of thujone alters your perceptions - not severly like acid, but mildly. You like Van Gogh paintings? Well, many theorize that what he painted was his version of photorealism. That's how he saw the world because he was constantly drinking absinthe. I don't know if that's actually the case re: his art, but it's an interesting idea. you can't get it here because we americans have an institutionalized double standard about drugs, and we're pretty foolish when it comes to the concepts of prohibition. Go to amsterdam and drink up.

best, smartest football players available, regardless of position. that's my opinion. If I had to take it by position, I'd go TE G DE WR OT CB
-
to do that, you have to have enough under the cap to accommodate the amount you'd have to spend if you kept a franchised player for that year. a franchised LT would probably cost about 7-8 million, which would put us right at the ceiling, BEFORE our tenders (and restructures)
-
No, compensation DOES come from UFAs. But a team has to lose more in UFAs than they acquire in FA. So we'd have to lose them both and acquire nobody, pretty much.
-
i'd rather go through 8 games of a rookie learning than 8 games of a veteran with so many limitations on the table, which every decent defensive coordinator knows how to exploit, that he's often a non-factor in games our defense wins and is often a major factor in losses. that's bledsoe, folks. want a good example? we crushed the browns, right? how did drew perform in that game? look it up. we won that game with johnathan smith at QB. To give that W to drew is ludicrous and there are 4 others just like it. i love drew, and wish him well. in dallas.

how the fug is Ashee Simpson a celebrity?
nodnarb replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ya gotta remember, there's no link between celebrity and talent. -
http://buffalonews.com/editorial/20050104/...?tbd1058884.asp I billieve Bledsoe limits what the offense can do, and I'll bet everything I have that he will never be the difference in a victory in big game. He'll be the difference in a loss in a big game, but not in a victory. Sucks, because Drew's a great guy and I'd love to see him be successful here. I hope TD knows that if Drew is the starter in 2005, it will SERIOUSLY impact ticket sales. I just don't believe fans will want to see him in control anymore. You can't argue that the guy's play is trending downward. He's a mediocre quarterback who is defended in the press due to his career stats and character. I'll take an ass hole that just wins. No, not flutie for fugg's sake.

i agree, jay. i was screaming at the television. i really think our coaches outcoached themselves. it's more simple than they made it. leave your best players on the field, especially after they were just effective for two downs. sam is our best pash rusher. leave him in. kelsay is an animal. leave him in. posey isn't a playmaker. why is he in at DE? it was makign me crazy.
-
oh will you pleeeze wake up... Drew was a non-factor in 3 of those wins. Go back and look at his stats in the cleveland game. We won that DESPITE drew. hey, we all love the guy and wish him well. In Dallas.
-
you can't just add up the total numbers cuz he missed some time throughout his career, particularly 2001. Yes, I'm too lazy to do it myself. One of you antiDrews must have the data handy, no? I'm sure the data ain't impressive.

In spite of Mularkey's system, which is ostensibly all about high percentage passing and play action, Bledsoe actually had a worse completion percentage than last year: (58.2% vs 56.9%) A better TD/INT ratio (Lee Evans) but his rating for this year (76.6) is exactly One Tenth of a % worse than his career average. In other words: The Bledsoe of 2004 is the BEST he'll be. We just saw Drew's CEILING this year. There is no "upside" left to his game. It's all out on the table, and every D-coordinator is aware of it. If he's our QB next year, expect pain. And expect to consider 9-7 a lofty goal. 2003 Buffalo Bills 471 274 58.2 2860 6.07 11 12 49/371 28 2 73.0 2004 Buffalo Bills 450 256 56.9 2932 6.52 20 16 37/215 31 9 76.6

When asked if he expects there to be an open competition or if it would still be his team, he flatly said, "No, it's still my team" I don't like that one bit. That's the LAST thing I want to hear. Man, this team has me worried. If they can't see how limiting Bledsoe is, then maybe they're not that good after all. Why did we draft JP Losman again and give him a 5 year deal? What value are we getting again?

the real game is tomorrow, right? that was all imagined after i ate those bad clams. tell me it was the clams.

When there are 3 blockers and 2 people to pick them up, the lineman is usually responsible for the guy closest to the QB, or with the shortest line to the QB. THe problem was not mike williams there. It was that they did not have the right protections called for that defensive play. It was a simple matter of They Fooled Us instead of We Fooled Them. It happens in football, you know?

There's talk about getting Kurt Warner

If you were right, I'd agree with you. The Bills only beat 3 decent teams in the Rams, Seahawks and Jets. Their other six wins game against hapless teams with losing records. And even in those wins, Drew was often mediocre at best. Go back and look at the stats. The Bills often won DESPITE the play of Drew. You can't say that about ANY SINGLE Colts game. But I count this many AWFUL for Drew: 1. the Raiders game: Drew was pathetic 2. the jets game 3. the Ravens game: Drew was horrid 4. 2nd NE game: Drew was horrid 5. Against the BROWNS (at HOME) Drew was a pathetic 13-30 for 106 yards and an INT. 6. Bengals: Drew was a pedestrian 16-32 with 2 INTs and a 3.6 yards per pass avg. 7. Today vs. the Steelers. Granted, he didn't get much help by horrid playcalling, but he still looked shaky and scared out there. There were 4 wins in which his play was merely okay. Any backup QB in this league could have won with the way our defense and ST played in those games. I don't believe that Drew has much value to this team anymore, and I'll look forward to hearing that we've traded his rights. I wish him well, and honestly think he's a great guy that I'd be proud and lucky to know. But he simply cannot go the distance and make plays when it matters.
-
NJ Sue, I find it odd that you support Drew no matter how badly he stinks up the field and yet you say Teague stinks. Teague absolutely does NOT stink, and I'll take Jim McNally's opinion of him over anyone here. He's still taking the heat from a poorly COACHED offensive line of 2002-2003. Teague has been our BEST lineman all season.

You're wrong about the cap there. Cut Mike Williams? Are you high? Don't give up your day job. the bills are between 6.5 and 8.5 million under the estimated cap for next year. Moulds will have to restructure or be traded. He'll restructure, hopefully. Drew will either restructure and agree that he has to compete for his job and potentially be a backup to JP, or be cut. Mike Williams is NOT the problem. Anyone who thinks so is reading profootballtalk, the website that slings schitt and 40% of it sticks, and the rest of it just stinks. The Bills played a bad football game when it mattered most. They have themselves to blame, in the following order as I see it 1. Drew's two bad plays led to two Steelers TDs. 2. MM/TC called a conservative "let's not lose" game. No downfield passes until it didn't matter?! are you kdding? 3. the defense played like schitt 4. the clements fumble cost us 3 and he gave us 7. Enough about that. Drew's play is what hurt this team more than any other single player. YOU CAN'T KEEP CLINGING TO THE FACT THAT DREW'S A GREAT GUY! Your QB needs to be a winner. In control. Unshakeable.

1. Drew traded, with dignity, to the Parcells for their 2nd round pick. Likely? No. But a man can dream. 2. JP the starter with Shane Matthews and a FA as backups. Shane has looked pretty damn good in his spot duty. He's a smart caretaker type. Perfect for backing up. 3. Keep Travis through his final year. He's worth more as a backup for 1 year than the 4th round pick we'd get. 4. Draft a guard and bring in a FA stud guard. 5. Draft another CB 6. Draft another WR. It appears that Josh Reed is indeed a pretty bad pro. Sometimes you miss. 7. Bring in a FA DE. We won't get away with no DE injuries for another whole season. 8. Bring in a Lamont Jordan type. A big, pass catching brusing 3rd down back. I still can't believe this happened. This didn't happen, did it? Our coaches didn't call the game to avoid losing, did they? It's not true that they never called a deep pass, is it? It's not true that our vaunted defense couldn't stop their 3rd string runner, is it? It's not true that we were thoroughly outcoached, is it? It's not true that once again, Drew choked in a big game, is it? It's not true that our kicker is scarier than any halloween mask, is it? It's all true, isn't it? Wow. How far we've fallen in 6 hours.

New England fans tried to warn me
nodnarb replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I said it too. I have family in Boston and they've watched Drew for a decade. He broke their hearts and warned me about it when he arrived in buffalo with all that pomp and circumstance. Drew freezes. He locks. He plays jittery. He shows no emotion. He's inaccurate on short and mid-length throws. He's a great guy. A real high-character player. Give me an ass hole who can get it done anyday -
Back From Game - A Wakeup Call For Our Fans
nodnarb replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The real sad thing about this team is that, while we've been quiet as we enjoy watching the Bills beat up on inferior teams, you HAVE to still realize that Drew is a weak link for this offense. His numbers this season are pedestrian at best. He makes some of the most boneheaded throws, and they always seem to come at the worst times. This points to a guy who has the jitters - a guy who's afraid to lose so he holds it too long or throws it to the nearest jersey. He had absolutely no presence out there. No command. If I hear this team say that Drew is the starter next year, I hope they're prepared for poor ticket sales. Drew is a great guy who I wish possessed that IT that allows him to win big games. He lacks IT. And IT doesn't miraculously come back.
