anyone catch DB's comments about JP!
nodnarb replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Drew handled that PC with class...until I heard that backhanded comment. I lost a bit of respect for him when he said that, and perhaps it reveals another side of his character. we already know that he has a skewed perspective of his own abilities, but to make that comment is just low-roading it, no ifs and or buts. don't let the door hitcha that being said...JP had better be an upgrade immediately, or this staff of coaches will look pretty bad. I'm confident that they're right. They really studied it, and came to the conclusion we were all hoping for. And we were hoping for it because Drew just can't get it done when it matters most. -
what we really gave up for losman

If I had a dollar for every time I had to explain this over the past year, I'd have about twenty-six bucks. -
can he do any worse than drew did against the patriots?

what about chris chandler as a backup?
nodnarb replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
just say no to crystal chandalier -
Let's trust the opinion of sam wyche, who wouldn't put the team in the position to fail. He clearly thinks JP can do it.

I think we all like Drew and wish him well. He truly is a class act, but not quite as "stand up" as he could be. What I mean is, he should be more aware of himself. He ought to know that he's not worth 4 million per year. He ought to know that his time as a backup has begun. He's simply not quick of mind. And you have to be. He'll either be a: 1. Cowboy -- most likely. 2. Brown -- Crennel likes big arms, or so I hear. I hope he likes missed reads, too. 3. Seahawk -- Don't count out Bledsoe wanting to play for his home team, even as a backup. He might see it as a convenience. He'll surely rot out there, as he spends more time with family than with his playbook. 4. Chief -- Vermeil likes old guys at the helm. 5. Raider -- Nobody likes old guys on the cusp of retirement as much as Al Davis. 6. Bear -- They're pretty desperate for a healthy passer. 7. Raven -- Seriously. Billick loves big arms, but there's no way he gives him the starting job.

With the DB issue not finished but pretty much
nodnarb replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too John. When he arrived I was hopeful but wary. Loved his arm, didn't trust his head. Drew has always had a knack for coming up small in big games. For making throws that seem to belie his ability and pedigree. Part of what makes Bledsoe so seductive is that he looks the part to a T and sounds the part to a T and talks the part to a T. If you had to make an action figure of the ultimate pocket passer, it would look like Drew. Tall, Long arms, big hands, cannon arm, and tough. The problem is you can't put a good football brain in a plastic toy. Intangibles such as poise, timing, pocket awareness, and the ability to see the field are what matters most in a QB, and these are the areas where Drew was once decent, never great, and has slipped from decent into the frustrating region of INCONSISTENT. He's Jeckyl and Hyde. He'll have a game like the Miami game or 9ers game or Rams game and then he'll lay an egg against the Browns and Steelers backups, and of course every big game that your team must have. I wish he could see himself with better clarity, cuz I'd like to have him as jP's backup. Short of that, I'm a little disappointed that we're not going to get any value back for him. If we could have pulled off a trade for even a 4th or 5th rounder it would make the transaction feel better. Later, Drew. You hardly knew ya -
cuz it's the bengals.

I'll play. Bledsoe realizes that he doesn't want to start over again, move his family again, etc. for Parcells, who he knows will bark at him incessantly. He realizes, at long last, that his better days are behind him but he can still play an important role for the bills. He agrees to restructure his final two years at 1.75 per, and our backup situation is no longer as dire. If this doesn't happen, I certainly won't weep. Best of luck to him. He won't do any better than his career average, which is quite average. He can go anywhere and achieve 54% completion rate with about as many INTs as TDs and a rating around 70. He can ho-hum the football world into 2010 for all I care. BUt that's all he'll get from himself. I'd still like to see what Shane Matthews can do in a backup role. Smart, dedicated, and still has a live arm. Bills sign Pat Williams AND Jonas Jennings. Bills trade Josh Reed to his old ball coach in Miami for a 4th round pick. Bills sign a veteran WR to play #3/4 with Aiken, and then draft WR in the first day. Josh just doesn't seem to be able to get it done. After such a promising rookie season, you have to wonder...WTF? OR, maybe Drew just failed to look his way and the Bills want to see what Josh can do with JP. I dunno....

Curious. Just realized I haven't seen his name around here for weeks, maybe months. Did I miss an episode of As TBD Turns?
-
. the sporting news war room has Jonathan Nichols, Ole Miss as the #1, and nUge #2. I saw another with the same opinion...gb report maybe? don't recall.
-
Frankly, I couldn't care less. But he IS the #2 kicker on some draft boards.
-
trade travis to the eagles for their high #2. 2a. mark clayton, WR (he really might slip this far based on his size.) 2b. khalif barnes, OT (that kind of potential in McNally's hands...whooboy) 3. Alex Smith, TE (could be a nice middle round gem. Might not last this long.) 4. R0nald Bartell, CB (might not last this long, but he'd be a steal here.) 5. Mike Nugent, PK (just to satisfy this board) 6. My sleeper: Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB (smart, good arm, poised, football geek) 7. Darren Sproles, RB (it'll be interesting to see which team takes a flier on this kid. Unreal balance and cutting ability, but at 5'6", he'll be likened to Quentin Griffin, who has been disappointing and inconsistent.

Bills Team Report Feb. 13, 2005 By agreeing to a contract extension last week, WR Eric Moulds secured his future with the Bills while also providing some salary cap relief for the team. His new deal, which runs through 2007, includes a $5 million signing bonus and $1.5 million in base salary. His base was $5.5 million under the old contract in addition to a $1 million roster bonus. More important to the Bills, the new contract drops Moulds' 2005 cap figure from $8.6 million to $5.16 million. Moulds, 31, is still an elite receiver capable of beating double teams with his strength and route running. His work ethic will continue to set an example for the team's young receivers, especially rookie sensation Lee Evans. . . . The Bills are encouraged by QB J.P. Losman's early arrival for offseason workouts. Organized activities for NFL teams don't officially begin until late March, but Losman wants to get a jump on getting himself ready for next season. Although the team has not publicly discussed Drew Bledsoe's status, all signs point to Losman getting every chance to win the starting job. Losman missed most of last season after breaking his leg in the preseason. He has to get more comfortable in the offense and harness his considerable athletic ability to establish himself as the new leader of the offense. Hard Truth: With the likelihood of Losman becoming the starting quarterback, there will be more pressure on RB Willis McGahee to exceed his tremendous comeback season. McGahee ran for more than 1,200 yards despite starting just 11 games. His physical running style allows the team to execute more ball control and set up the play-action passing attack. Losman is sure to have some growing pains early on, but he'll have less pressure to carry the offense as long as the running game is productive with McGahee as the focal point. Inside Dish: There are a few skeptics in the locker room about whether second-year QB J.P. Losman is ready to replace Drew Bledsoe as the leader of the offense. Players don't question Losman's talent. They just wonder if Losman's feel for reading defenses and decision-making can match his physical skills in his first year as a starter. Many of the veterans are hoping the Bills are making the right decision by turning to Losman. After barely missing the playoffs last season, the players don't want to take a step backwards.

Is Sam Aiken ready to step up as the #3 WR?
nodnarb replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ask sam -
the other mistake is that the patriots received a 1st round pick in the 2003, not 2004 draft as they say. Bledsoe did not get them Wilfork. Their trade with the Ravens for Boller got them WIlfork. But I wouldn't expect a paid journalist to get his/her facts straight. Nah.

makes you wish he was johnathan william losman or, more simply, JP Winman

when was that? that couldn't have been his juggular...he'd be gone. what the heck happened, i mean medically?

Is Moulds the best wideout in the AFC EAST?
nodnarb replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Evans will be special. But Moulds still isn't on the Holt/Owens/Moss/Harrison level. He still drops too many. But I love 'em. (i expect at least one "oh yea? why don't you marry him then?" comment.) -
Buff News: Moulds '05 Savings $3.4 Million
nodnarb replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills, and all us fans, should feel lucky that a guy like moulds actually digs Buffalo. He could go anywhere he wanted and he'd be in demand. He holds all the power in this relationship, and he chose Buffalo. Again, we're lucky. -
correction. pro personnel people don't care much about former player connections from college. if they did, you'd see more QBs throwing to their college WRs. As much as you might think it a good thing, it could also become a bad thing. JP might develop a preference for locking onto him. It might produce in JP a desire to pump up his buddie's stats, and subconciously look for him when he shouldn't. You never know. But I do know that you don't see NFL personnel men trying to link their players with their college chums.

lenny p-losman back in buff; will start in 05
nodnarb replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well, sounds like the bills have begun a new era. now if the coaches can teach this kid how to slide, we won't have to worry about him lasting for 2.1 games only.
