  1. He looked plenty fast running back that pick 6 from Andrew Luck.
  2. Someone has to campaign for him, even if it is him. This is a good thing, maybe being around football will help his case, like it has for Cris Carter.
  3. You think we were better off taking no QB at all versus taking the one that the entire evaluating committee deemed the best chance at being a franchise quarterback? That is absurd. Given the amount of time Marrone and Hackett spent with Nassib, I am going to trust their decision not to bet their futures on him. As far as taking no QB other than Nassib, they would be killed by fans and media alike for that decision if they had made it.
  4. He was a fourth round pick according to a bunch of reporters, that does not mean that was how NFL teams viewed him. He has the skill, upside and leadership to be a franchise QB for years to come and IMO would have been on another roster if we had waited until round 2. You may disagree but I am thrilled that we chose him over Geno Smith even though the "experts" would have praised our draft if we had taken him instead.
  5. I believe he has the talent to succeed regardless of where he was drafted. However, there is a good chance that if he were with a team other than the *Pats, he may never have been able to showcase those skills. He is not a purely "system" guy, he is better than that, but he would not have made Superbowl winners out of the Jaguars or many other teams for that matter, in my opinion.
  6. I thought you were comparing him to Sporano at first and I was going to object. Soprano is a much better comparison.
  7. 9. A Jet. (you missed the worst one of them all.)
  8. Solid B for potential but could become an A if Manuel and others live up to their expectations.
  9. he actually said they were going to "keep the communication open"
  10. Great analysis, this makes good sense. Any opinion on Kolb's ability to run this offense? I don't know much about his deep ball accuracy. I would love to see Manuel on the field as soon as possible, but I hope they don't put him out there before he is ready.
  11. Negative ghost rider, the pattern is full.
  12. I was thinking about that too. The Da'Rick Rogers thread is longer. I for one am very excited about this pick and I agree that he will most likely be an opening day starter. I think there is not much being said because it is a nice safe pick that most people agree with, so lack of controversy equals lack of commentary.
  13. I found it on a Vikings website if anyone wants to view. He also said that Buffalo had 10 coaches in the room with him at the combine, breaking down film, etc. I agree, he is well spoken. I did not hear the part about EJ Manuel but that may have been a different clip. http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/videos/Combine-Presser-USC-WR-Robert-Woods/070119a1-ee5e-4dd5-8b68-12032620f90a
  14. IMO, very safe. Moulds and Peerless Price were much better when they were together. These new receivers are an absolute compliment to Stevie who has been one of the few shinng stars in an otherwise dark sky. Safe and hopefully even stronger with no more constant double covers.
  15. Another pre-draft report: http://www.packers.com/media-center/videos/WR-DaRick-Rogers-talent-isnt-being-dismissed/363d5411-9ae2-4667-afb0-e63717657fbc
  16. Walter football scouting report had stated that he would be a good fit for the Bills and we should take him in round 2. This is even better. (except of course that UDFA's only get 3 year contracts) http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2013drogers.php Buffalo needs a receiver to complement Stevie Johnson. Rogers would be a nice fit with the Bills, and he could be a good selection for them in the second round. The Jets have a weak receiving corps, and Santonio Holmes could flame out at any time. Landing a wide out like Rogers would be a nice upgrade for New York.
  17. Lutzenkirchen was a superstar at Lassiter high school in Georgia which is about 2 miles from my house. I saw him make some great plays on Fridays and always figured his skill would translate to the NFL. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/philip-lutzenkirchen?id=2539204
  18. Lol Surprised to hear you say an extra year on the first contract is irrelevant. How often do we and other teams spend several years developing a player only to lose them in free agency after their rookie contract expires? For a potential franchise QB, that extra year is valuable in my opinion.
  19. Hell yeah. Keep it coming. We are addressing needs and adding dangerous weapons at the same time.
  20. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, only players drafted in the first round allow teams the option to extend the rookie contact for a fifth season. If you think you have the guy that will be your starting QB in a season or two why wait for round two or three when you can take him in round one and lock him up for 5 years instead of 4. That is a huge difference when you talk about QB's and the cost of the second contact, one year matters. I am thrilled that we got Manuel in the first round because if he turns out to be a stud we get an extra season on his first contract. Section 3. Rookie Contracts: (a) Contract Length. Every Rookie Contract shall have a fixed and unalter- able contract length: (i) four years for Rookies selected in the first round of the Draft, with a Club option for a fifth year as described in Section 7 below; (ii) four years for Rookies selected in rounds two through seven of the Draft (including any compensatory draft selections); and (ii)i three years for Undrafted Rookies
  21. Who is still made that we didn't draft Claussen in the first round a couple of years ago.
  22. Yup. SDS explains details in the sorry about the downtime thread.
  23. Damn, that pick seemed to bring the Wall to its knees.
