  1. What I want to know is how this relates to Bledsoe. We have not yet resolved how bad he stinks and you start posting stuff on other topics. Will you please stick to Bledsoe and how bad he stinks.
  2. We took the kids to the ocean this year and went swimming every day that it didn't rain. We were in the water a lot. Not one time did I see one of these "fish" that supposedly live in the ocean. Maybe they are in area 51. Disclaimer: I realize that my analogy is just as dumb as your Shangri La analogy. It is a known and documented fact that Iraq had those weapons. Despite repeated demands, they provided no proof that the weapons were destroyed. Is that not enough reason to assume that they still have them? If not, is it enough to be suspicious? Further, although WMD was part of the rationale for the war, it was hardly the entire reason. The danger of WMD being passed along to terrorists was a real threat under the old Iraqi regime (and remains so in other parts of the world). The stability of the ME (long term) is also important. I think it is fair to analyze and/or criticize the attempt to instill Iraqi democracy as part of a greater ME plan. I also think that it is fair to say that the "old way" of trying to achieve long term peace was going down the wrong road. Declaring a long term policy that involved regime change "failed" after two years is folly (just as declaring it a success or "on schedule" would be). Supporting the status quo is a bad strategy when the status quo is ticking. I have yet to see a single proactive plan from any journalist/politician/sociologist that would be a step forward in the ME. Have you seen one?
  3. Mick, I usually read your posts thourougly and find them thoughtful. Wrong, but thoughtful. On this one I stopped reading where I put the dots. Your definition of "historical fact" is a bit off. The weapons have not been found. This does not constitute proof they do not exist.
  4. Did Reagan drop taxes before he raised them? Did the net of his cuts and raises turn out to be lower or higher taxes? Do you think the Dem congress was involved in the raises at all? On a pertinent side note: For a year (1998) I decided to keep a record of every penny I spent using Quicken (great program that everyone should use). I did this in part to get a good grip on my finances and also to see how much I was spending on taxes. I kept track of everything I could. If I spent $108 on an item and $100 was for the item and $8 was sales tax, that is how it was entered. I took a similar approach for my phone bill, etc. It turned out that of every dollar in expenses spent, 67 cents were taxes. I did manage to save some that year so as a percentage of income, taxes were 55%. (These numbers do not include the 50% of my payroll taxes that my employer paid although you could make an argument that I should have accounted for them. They also don't include taxes I paid at the gas pump because I could not find reliable figures.) Although I still use Quicken extensively, I no longer detail it out so thouroughly. I honestly don't think my percentages have changed much (if I had to guess). Do you think this is enough? 2 of every 3 dollar spent going to taxes? Is 4 out of 5 better? Why not just all of it? Is that what Reagan would have wanted?
  5. Don't get so uppity. I'm simply saying that it may not be fair to judge him just yet. BTW a 44% completion ratio does not mean they were all catchable. If you think we should cast him off, then fine. It is your opinion. IMO he made several good plays in his first year. If you go back and look at both NE games (granted they were losses) he gave them a lot of trouble. He dropped one bunny in a 31-0 win and the naysayers started. He made some bad plays, but he did not have "countless dropped balls" as everyone seems to believe. I don't think he will be a HOFer but I do think he could still be a solid slot receiver. Bledsoe is not exactly the world's best hot read QB that will hit the slot receiver on a blitz (also my opinion). This does not absolve Reed, but it certainly makes it harder to call him a bust.
  6. I agree with this post completely. Add to your points that Bledsoe throwing quick reads over the middle to slot receivers is not exactly a "strength" (unless you count middle linebackers on the opposition as being slot receivers --- he throws to them nicely). I saw enough of Reed at LSU to know he has potential. The only thing that worries me is some random stuff that has been posted about his attitude.
  7. Evidently his next law suit will be against someone named boomerbomerjamjam or something like that. It will be only $2.5 for slander on a Bills message board.
  8. Dire Straits
  9. After acting as DC for the Super Bowl Champion Buffalo Bills?
  10. If you've got a screen name that is one long word that you haven't seen anywhere else (like mine) go to Google and search for it. Your posts come up. You probably already knew this but I thought it was pretty cool.
  11. Please note that stevestojan can also be used quite nicely as a noun.
  12. Happy Birthday. I hope those chips last you until you are 23.
  13. That's not the American way; that's the human nature way. This, in a nutshell, is why big government does not work. Not here or anywhere.
  14. Just tell me if we're winning or losing the blowout. I need to know.
  15. Why do they have to freeze the shopping carts? If they are going to do this shouldn't they go all out and get one of those Michael Jackson/Austin Powers devices and make sure it is really preserved for future generations? Seriously, why are they freezing shopping carts? I do not get it. The article did not say they were freezing the contents of the shopping carts, they said that the actual carts are being stored in the freezer. Mightn't these carts say "Safeway" on the side? It shouldn't be too hard to find the owner.
  16. It was good to see some TBD faces again and meet some new ones too. It was fun to sit with UDonkey who made the long trip. Special Thaks goes to Lori for the ticket help. No comment on the game (if you can't say something nice....)
  17. I know it isn't as big as the opener, but is there a tailgate where regular TBDers attend? Where is it? When?
  18. I'm in town and want to go to the game. Our trip wasn't scheduled until recently so we can't use the tickets I usually get. I'd like to go to the game and I'm only looking for a single seat. Does anyone have advice for picking up a single ticket before the game. I would think they'd get cheaper closer to gametime and it will probably help that it's a single, but I haven't bought a ticket this way before. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  19. Bingo. Nice work. I also agree with your percentages on the jets & broncs. I think it is a shame because IMO Denver stinks out loud, but they will be playing an NFL Europe type team. Go Claymores Go.
  20. Local Time Warner in Albany dropped it. They sent a letter out about it. They added some lame sports outdoor channels or something.
  21. You'll be in my thougts too Bud. Merry Christmas.
  22. Inside joke. John used to come around here calling everyone marginal fans.
  23. Those are pretty marginal instructions.
  24. Exact quote Pedro made about the Yankees during the baseball season.
