Warren Sapp rates Dareus over Fairley
1billsfan replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marcel Dareus is the NFL's next Tyson Jackson bust in waiting. Same size and player who'll have the same failure rate when being switched to the 3/4 DE roll. You have to be athletic to make it as a 3/4 DE and Fairley is the only one of the two who possesses that athleticism. Dareus is actually a much higher risk pick than Fairley. Failey's only negative is of this rumored bad attitude, Dareus is a lesser talent and that's MUCH bigger of an issue. This is why bad teams stay bad, they out think themselves into picks like Donte Freaking Whitner over Ngata because they are supposedly safer and a better "fit". This is becoming the silly season when people are rooting for the Bills taking Marcel Dareus over Nick Fairley. Lock it down, Nick Fairley is the safer pick over Marcel Dareus (aka Tyson Jackson 2.0). -
There is going to be a rookie wage scale, the union has already basically agreed to it... http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81581842&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Fine, but like I said, they can also trade out of the pick. The probability is high that either the Panthers or Broncos WILL trade out of the pick if they don't want Newton. I know that this isn't what the Newton or trade down people want to hear, but the writing's on the wall already.
-
Sorry, but I just don't get the fascination with Kyle Rudolph. A tight end is the very definition of a luxury pick. This team is woefully short on defensive talent in general and also short on offensive line talent. Why would the Bills pick a tight end at the 34th pick who only scored 3 TDs last year? I know that you want a tight end, but as the Rolling Stones once said, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need." No way in heck do I want the Bills to be picking any tight end in this draft. I prefer drafting a great tight end prospect when your team is pretty much already built.

Here's the thing, if Cam Newton is widely regarded as good enough to take at #3 (which apparently he already is). He's good enough to take at #1 or #2. I get the sense here that people think the Bills will no doubt have the opportunity to draft him or not draft him since they're at #3. People need to start realizing that the Panthers, Broncos or a handful of team's desperate at the QB position behind the Bills' pick will ALL be in the mix for Newton. In the end, Newton will eventually be seen as the #1 guy in the draft and either the Panthers or a team that desperately wants him will have to trade up to get him. The only way I see Newton on this team is if the Bills surrender Fitzpatrick and their #2 pick to move up to the #1 slot. Either the Panthers get him or they get a sweet deal to trade out. That's how I see it going down.

Warren Sapp rates Dareus over Fairley
1billsfan replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One guy is a "solid" player at the point of attack, the other guy exudes pure joy eating quarterbacks for lunch. We all know which one is which. Anyone who questions Fairley's desire to play football after watching him in action is truly an idiot. But we're the Buffalo Bills and we want only want soft and nice guys who like to tweet harder than they play. Mean and nasty James Harrison types need not apply. -
Warren Sapp rates Dareus over Fairley
1billsfan replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me get this straight... Fairley had 11.5 sacks, 24 tackles for a loss, 21 QB pressures, no suspensions Dareus had 4.5 sacks, 11 tackles for a loss, 10 QB pressures, and was SUSPENDED for 2 games …and yet it's Nick Failey who gets tagged by Mayock as someone that has questionable work ethic and reliability?????????? Fairley had double the sacks, double the tackles for loss, double the QB pressures, no suspension. But Dareus is the better prospect????? Wow, are these NFL Network people complete idiots. Unless he has serious proof of this, Mayock should keep his trap shut. Because based on the stat numbers and suspensions, it's Marcel Dareus who's the big fat slouch, not Fairley. It's not even close. IMO those comments border on being slanderous. Where's the proof of this? Can any of these so-called "experts" just say anything about a player and get away with it? The Buffalo Bills had better not pick Marcel Dareus over Nick Fairley based on bull___ rumors. This is why crappy teams always suck, they have tooooooooo much time between the end of the college season to the draft to over think themselves and make a horrifically foolish pick like Dareus over Fairley. -
"The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service," President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote in 1937 to the head of the National Federation of Federal Employees. In the private sector, organized employees and the employer meet across the bargaining table as (theoretical) equals. But in the public sector, said FDR, "the employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives in Congress." Allowing public-employee unions to engage in collective bargaining would mean opening the door to the manipulation of government policy by a privileged private interest." FWIW, I got this from the comment section on this page... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/116475883.html

Nick Fairley's Bills radio blog interview
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
6'5", 298 lbs, extremely athletic, nasty attitude... ...seems like the perfect fit for a 3-4 DE. Just take a look at his videos, he plays like a bigger, stronger version of Bruce Smith. -
I didn't see this posted, so I thought I'd oblige… http://www.nickmendola.com/nick-fairley-interview/ Doesn't sound like an immature jerk to me. With all of the over-dissecting of players before the draft, the Bills just might have a chance to select him if the Panthers or Broncos get "cold feet" on Fairley. If he's there they had better not get cute like they did with the insanely stupid Whitner over Ngata pick.

"Assault"???? What happened to the toning down of the violent rhetoric after the congresswoman was shot in the head? Well that didn't last long, did it...LOL Are non-union, private sector workers not neighbors? not your friends? You know, the ones who are footing the bill for outrageously bloated union salaries, pension plans and gold plated healthcare plans. The ones that Obama couldn't give a rat's ass about. BTW, for someone who graduated from Harvard, he's a mathematic moron who obviously doesn't have a clue what the phrase "balancing a budget" means. Dude should have put down the weed and taken an accounting class. This is his dumbest move yet. Chris Christie can't get elected fast enough for President in 2012.

Fitzpatrick had 2 TDs that would be considered "garbage time" one against the Jets and one against the Vikings. The other game that you're referring to is the Bengals game where Fitzpatrick threw for 4 TDs. But somehow to you, this should demonstrate to Bills fans that Fitzpatrick really sucks? That's a stupid argument. Could you at least bring something real to support your argument?
-
No, we say that Fitzpatrick could be nearly as good as Brees and we provide evidence of that time and time again. We say that Fitzpatrick had looked to turn the corner after his 30th start just like Brees did… 2003 Brees had 11 TDs in 11 games 2004 Brees had 27 TDs in 15 games 2009 Fitzpatrick had 9 TDs in 8 games 2010 Fitzpatrick had 23 TDs in 13 games Are you saying that given a 16 game season, Fitzpatrick couldn't possibly throw 27 TDs? Yes, Brees is better than Fitzpatrick, but he's not this all time great who's impossible to come close to in performance. The final verdict will be the 2011 season, where it's more probable than not that Fitzpatrick throws between 26-30 TDs.

These state public workers are so off the reservation it's not even funny. They act as if the State of Wisconsin has this "magical" ATM machine that just prints out money just like the federal government has. The ATM machine (taxpayers) are out of money. The economic collapse exposed the ponzi scheme and the proverbial can no longer can be kicked down the road. California is 100 billion dollars in debt. I heard that, last year, "Arnold the Governator" sent his financial man to the library to research a way to declare the state a territory so that the taxpayers in the other 49 states could be given the tab for that debt.

First, don't bring up the "educating our children" crappola. If it was about the children then giving back a few percentages from your paycheck wouldn't be made into such a catostrophic issue. Second, our salaries in the private sector aren't paid off the backs of ordinary taxpayers. You know the ones who are completely tapped out!!!!! This is ridiculous, there's literally no money left. What part of that do these public employees not get?
-
If Fitzpatrick had played a hypothetical additional three games (making it a full 16 game season) and averaged his TDs per game (approx. 1.7) he would have reached 28 TDs. That would've put him right with Aaron Rogers and Matt Ryan. Right below Rivers and Brees. So how is it so far fetched that he's a player that has turned the preverbal corner? Is he going to all of a sudden regress? After a full training camp as the #1 guy? Sorry, but I give him a pretty good shot of proving all the doubters wrong. As of right now, I actually like him better than Eli Manning.
-
Dude had 23 TDs in 13 games coming in cold off the bench. Looking at Drew Brees' career arch, the light went on for him around his 30th start just as it had for Fitzpatrick this season. Not saying he will be as good as Brees, but he certainly can be almost as good as him. If Drew Brees and Eli Manning can win Superbowls, then so to can Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick will have this coming season to either arrive as a top 10 QB, or prove the doubters wrong. I think there's a 50/50 chance of either happening. I seriously think he has the potential to get close in performance to the big boys like Manning, Brady, Rivers and Brees. Ralph has KDS (Kelly Derangement Syndrome). The feeling that you need a football QB god to drop in your lap to get to the Superbowl. He really did slap Fitzpatrick in the face with those comments. Let's hope it provides even more incentive for our QB to prove him wrong.
-
What part of there is no money left do they not get? What part of they are free to quit their public worker job do they not get? Everyone who left their jobs should all be fired. Plenty of people in the country looking for jobs who would gladly accept the private sector-like contribution of benefits. They're acting like spoiled children, except they're adults acting with blatant disregard to the debt they're piling on their children and grandchildren.

Sorry but... "Henne an Fitzy are comparable." ...is one of the dumbest statements made here in a looooong time. Fitzy had 23 Tds in 13 games last season, Henne had 15 TDs in 15 games, in what world do these facts say to you that these two QBs are comparable to one another? Seriously dude, that was an idiotic statement.
-
Dareus is not in the same class as Nick Fairley. Just look at the videos. Fairley is a monster and tosses o lineman around like rag dolls. The Bills "big board" should read... 1. Fairley 2. Green 3. Peterson In a trade down scenario... 1. Dareus 2. Quinn 3. Miller The Bills would deeply regret drafting for need over BPA (by not drafting one of "the big three") for years and years.

I really think our draft falls this way...
1billsfan replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
New coach, new QB. That's usually the way it goes. The Panthers are not going to pass on Newton because the burned a high pick on Clausen last year. If he was a first rounder then that would be different, but they can get away with drafting Newton and call it their beginning of a truly new era. Just go on one of the Panther message boards and see the buzz about Newton, and that was only after one workout. -
That's pretty funny considering that he'd have to get past the Panthers, Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, 49ers, Titans, Redskins and Vikings before they'd ever get the chance to even draft him. The Dolphins are idiots.

I'm certain that the Panthers will end up picking Cam Newton #1 overall. Think about it this way, what exactly is upside of drafting Nick Fairley over Cam Newton when you have Jimmy Freaking Clausen as your starting QB? After the combine and his pro day, the writing will be on the wall that they are "all in" with Newton. Did you hear Trent Dilfer's obscenely enthusiastic endorsement of Cam after his workout? That's only the beginning my friend. The Panthers will get a very talented "franchise" type QB (who'll have the endorsement of the "experts") and they'll also get the added benefit of a huge boost in season ticket and jersey sales. I think the Bills will get Nick Fairley after the Broncos pick Peterson at #2. That's a great first pick! -
I think ol' Russ is high on crack. No way does Nick Fairley slip past the Bills. Miller over Fairley???? That's too rich. They said the same things about Warren Sapp. Just makes the comparisons between the two even stronger. Fairley is a beast and the Bills would be pulling another bone-headed Whitner over Ngata move if they did this. BTW, Green is the safest pick in the draft. Put down the pipe Russ.

Dareus is definitely not considered one of the two best players in this draft. In fact he's widely considered second tier talent after Fairley, Peterson, Green. If the Bills don't draft him, he probably falls to the 6-12 range of the first round. Dareus is considered a solid d-line prospect, but not someone who'll become a perennial pro bowler. The Bills should either draft one of the top three, or trade back and go to a defensive line player. Dareus would be a good pick in a trade back scenario.
