1 Bills Drive: Let's Get Real
1billsfan replied to BiggieScooby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not trying to rip on your draft, just a constructive review… 1. 20 year old player who hasn't played football since 2009. Selling at #3. 2. Tight end who only caught 3 TDs last year. Sorry, don't like it at all. 3. Good pick. 4a. Odds are this is the first Matthews who will suck at the NFL level. Chasing a name LB who doesn't have good enough size is a wasted 4th rd pick. 4b. Good pick. Here's a better draft that I just whipped up… 1. Green WR Georgia 2. M. Wilson ILB Illinois 3. J. Pinkston OL Pitt 4a. L. Guy DE Arizona St. 4b. D. DeCicco SS Pitt 5. T. Taylor QB VT 6. I'm tired of doing research so you get only 5 rounds today. ...notice the Wanny/Pitt influence! -
OJ...oh never mind it dint happen

Seems the OJ was beaten to a "pulp." -
I've come to the conclusion that Cam Newton will become the first pick in this draft. I was just on a Carolina Panther message board and there's a 62 page thread regarding Newton (and his recent workout) that started only two days ago. That is the kind of "Super Juice" a team that struggles offensively wants with the number one pick. This time last year, Bradford started out as the 10-12th pick until his stock surged and the same thing is going to happen (for differing reasons) with the supremely talented Newton. Once the experts come around and literally start drooling and hyperventilating over him like Trent Dilfer did, the writing's on the wall. The only way I see Newton being drafted by the Bills is if they offer them Fitzpatrick and their 2nd pick to switch the 1st and 3rd picks. It will go... 1. Newton/Panthers 2. Peterson/Broncos 3. Green or Fairley/Bills - it all depends on how Nick Fairley checks out maturity-wise or not

Michael Scott reacts to Todd Collins entering game
1billsfan replied to Rush23's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
During that game, the booth audio picked up a female Bears fans saying "Todd Collins??!! Are you "bleeping" kidding me???!!!" I played it back a couple of times because it was so freaking funny! -
So a snot-nosed "first read only" rookie QB from a very gimmicky college offense will be a more accurate passer than Ryan Fitzpatrick from day one....REALLY?????? The myth of Fitzy's passing inaccuracy has officially grown to epic proportions. Sorry, but Dalton most likely will never be as good as Fitzpatrick in any category. Bills should use that third rounder to look for a starter on defense or the offensive line.

I look at that helmet and think 0-20 vs Dolphins. Worst by far of all the Bills' helmet designs.
-
...hip hip hoooray!...nah, still not feeling it. Seriously, there's no way in hell Jackson's flipping over those gawd awful throwbacks. I think the helmets remain red with a 60's inspired throwback jerseys and pants. They aren't going back to the "Simpson" unis.
-
That's the problem, if he's good enough for the Bills to pick at #3, he good enough for the Panthers to pick at #1. I remember this time last year, Bradford was around the 10th-12th best player (because of the shoulder) until the workouts locked him down as the consensus number 1 player. Don't fall in love with Newton because he'll probably end up going to the Panthers when all is said and done.
-
I hate those helmets. The Bills didn't do diddlly squat when they wore those back in the 70's-early eighties....YUCK!!!!
-
I'm surprised nobody here linked to the rumor that six NFL teams have him as the top player in the draft, enjoy... http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/2/10/1985219/2011-nfl-draft-cam-newton-auburn-big-board
-
Sorry, but I hate the helmet from that era. Reminds me of the Dolphin domination of the Bills. The helmet should either remain the same red (w/charging buffalo) with an adjustment to the uniform color changes, or changed to the classic white helmet with the standing red buffalo. I would like these uniforms shown here even less than the awful ones we have today. I think they keep the red helmet and change to a throwback-like jersey. I wouldn't mind them going with the throwbacks for good, they are so classic. Please not these throwbacks depicted here.

If Quinn tears it up at the combine, why wouldn't the Carolina Panthers seriously consider him at #1? It's not like Fairley doesn't have character/maturity concerns. I could see them taking a gamble on the huge boom or bust local kid.

I was in Pittsburgh for the weekend

Are you out of your cotton picking mind? I've got news for you, Ryan Fitzpatrick aint teaching @#$! to anyone of these snot-nosed rookie QBs in this years draft. Dude just threw 23 touchdowns in 13 games and nailed down the starting position for the first time in his 6 year career. He's going to be concentrating on winning the division, not babysitting. -
Amen!!!! I agree bring back the red end zones brotha!!!!!!! I still don't recognize RWS. Those green end zones just aren't right. I say do a complete purge of the Curse of Donahoe!!!!
-
What you say is true, we do need to solidify our interior defense. The problem is drafting for need over elite players when you are picking #3 in the draft. There are 7 more picks and the Bills' 2nd round pick will have first round value. The Bills will be very sorry if they draft Dareus over Green or Peterson.
-
I absolutely do think that the Bills could become an offensive powerhouse next year, possibly even without AJ Green. Fitzpatrick made a huge jump from forgotten backup to a very solid performer. Who's to say that he won't progress even further and make another jump forward with the whole offseason and training camp as the number one guy? IMO, for this to happen, CJ Spiller does need to become the starting dynamo back he was drafted to be. If they get AJ Green, look out. I can see the Bills' offense be so good they're being compared to the glory days of Kelly and Co..
-
You act as if the Bills have only one pick in this draft. I totally understand your strong frustration regarding the prospect of the Bills picking either Green or Peterson, but if they are head and shoulders above in player rating than Dareus (or Bowers, or Quinn, or Miller) the Bills would be taking a huge risk picking one of the aforementioned at #3. I do hope that one of these top ten defensive players looks like another Suh with practically zero risk factor. I don't see that right now though. I do see Green and Peterson as can't miss superstar types. One of these defensive front seven guys in the top ten had better knock it out of the park at the combine and in interviews for me to let players like Green or Peterson pass on by. If the Bills select Green, I see them taking the Rams' "Greatest Show on Turf" road to the Superbowl. I think the Bills could be in the top three in scoring if they figure out the offensive line (maybe draft that nasty guard Watkins in the second?), then draft all defense with the last 6 draft picks.

"Diva" national anthem...check! Heavy promo of "Glee" airing after the Superbowl...check! Black Eyed Peas halftime show...check! Pink shirts...check! We may need an AC/DC halftime show next year to inject some testosterone back into this game...AC/DC means what?!...oh never mind
-
What are you talking about? The top three "elite" type players in last years draft were Bradford, Suh and McCoy. This year, it appears that there's again only three "elite" player types which are shaping up to be Fairley, Green and Peterson. That doesn't mean that Dareus won't be an elite player, it's just that he doesn't project to be an elite player. So with the #3 pick overall, the Bills should avoid drafting for need over one of the "elite" type of players. You should never ever use a #3 pick on a reach/need player. That's NFL reality. As for my 300lb comment…sorry but with these big fat men, I worry about the Mike Williams syndrome. Just another reason I'd take the elite playmaking athletes in Green or Peterson over Dareus.
-
Obviously it's all conjecture until they tee it up. But judging on last year they nailed Bradford and Suh.
-
I think you're confusing what "elite" is. Every draft has a drop off somewhere in the first top ten picks from "elite" player types to "very good" player types. For instance, last year it was after Bradford, Suh and McCoy. Dareus is out of that "elite" group level. You factor in the bust level among defensive big men selected in the top ten and concerns of weight and stamina issues when a rookie is starting out at 300 (and he's not that tall), well then you should have your decision already made and select the "elite" player that you're in position to take.
-
I'm still waiting on a name from someone. Who are you taking over Green or Peterson?
-
So if the Panthers take Fairley, and either Green or Peterson is there at the Bills #3 pick and there is no trade option on the table, you take who over them...
-
Yeah right!...LOL What you said is flat out foolishness, did you read the CBS Sports report I linked on him? The kid has blazing speed with all the athleticism needed to play corner at an NFL elite level. Doesn't even matter because he'll be probably be picked by either the Panthers or Broncos anyways. But for you to say that he's nothing special is complete BS.
